"Mr. Charlie, this woman doesn't seem to be very obedient!"
Joey looked disgusted.
He walked over to Catherine and poked her calf with his right foot, causing her to struggle even more.
"My dear friend, this is a girl from a respectable family, not like those sluts on the street. It's normal for her to have a temper!"
Charlie was all smiles. They had now entered the stage of inspecting the goods and negotiating the price; it all depended on the two men's skills.
Joey didn't reply immediately, but took two steps back and circled the large pillar that bound Catherine, giving her another 360° look.
As he moved, Catherine's bound hands twisted wildly behind her back, trying to break free, but it was all in vain. These people were repeat offenders, and their binding skills were outstanding. How could she break free so easily?
"Tsk tsk tsk, her figure is alright, but there's nothing particularly outstanding about it!"
A true buyer, even if they have their eye on a product, must remain discreet and downplay its additional attributes to lay the groundwork for future price negotiations.
"Joey, you have exceptionally high standards!"
"Look at these full breasts, they're only a little smaller than my head. Look at this slender waist, it's even thinner than a wasp's. And look at this pert bottom, it's more beautiful than a freshly picked peach. And finally, look at these long legs, just thinking about carrying them on your shoulders is wonderful!"
Charlie walked over to Catherine, gesturing with his hands as he spoke, just like a merchant trying his best to promote a product.
"There's no shortage of women like that in Baron City. I can spend just a few dozen silver coins and have a happy and comfortable night!"
"I'll probably have to spend a lot of time 'training' this woman after I buy her, otherwise I'll end up feeling resentful instead of happy!"
Joey now needs to cultivate an image of being knowledgeable and wealthy, both to intimidate the mayor's son and to negotiate a lower price later.
"this……"
Charlie seemed at a loss for words after Joey's remark, as these kinds of transactions usually went quite smoothly.
His status as the son of the town mayor could keep some people in check, and the girls were generally quite obedient, unlike the stubborn girl in the room today.
"Waaaaah..."
Whether she was eager to escape or was angered again by Joey's words, Catherine continued to sob and whimper.
"You bitch, can't you behave yourself!"
Charlie, who was holding back his anger, seemed to have found an outlet and slapped the bag over his head.
With a crisp "snap," Catherine finally quieted down.
"Hey, Mr. Charlie, don't be so rough with women, you might hurt them!"
Seeing Catherine get slapped, Joey couldn't bear to watch any longer. Remembering how high and mighty Lady Catherine had been in those days, and how she had fallen to such a state, Joey, who usually didn't like to meddle, softened.
"Since you're not satisfied with this, so be it if it's broken. I'll find you a better one another day!"
Charlie had no such chivalrous spirit. Seeing that the slap had yielded an unexpected benefit, he changed his tune and wanted to replace Joey.
This kid knows how to do business; Joey really underestimated him.
With just one slap, Joey's thoughts were revealed; this girl had caught Joey's eye after all.
Having figured this out, the next step is to negotiate the price.
"Fine, this will do. I'm leaving Gold Rush Town today, and I'm still willing to be friends with you, Charlie. I don't want to miss out on this deal!"
Joey gave Charlie plenty of face, but also found a reason not to replace him.
"Joey, you're such a good friend! I knew I'd brought you to the right place!"
"Here's what we'll do: 100 gold coins, and you can take this girl with you right now!"
Charlie started rubbing his hands together again, looking eager to get the gold coins.
"Dear Charlie, did I hear that right? 100 gold coins? That's not a price a friend would ask for!"
Joey looked troubled, seemingly somewhat dissatisfied with the price.
100 gold coins? Are you kidding me? I only had 90 gold coins in my pocket, plus some silver coins. That's like stealing all my possessions to get Catherine, this living Buddha who can't eat or sleep.
Although he had a bit of a helpful spirit, he didn't want to go back to the way things were before he was free, especially since Big Beard was part of the group. Big Beard still had an innocent expression on his face, seemingly unaware of what had happened.
"So how much do you think is appropriate?"
Charlie didn't name another amount, but instead let Joey make the offer.
Actually, Charlie just blurted out that price. When he saw the pile of silver coins being exchanged at the bank, he guessed that Joey probably had around 100 gold coins. If he could get all the money at once, that would be the best. If he could kill a pig, he would; if not, killing a chicken would do too.
"40 gold coins, that's the most I can do!"
“In Baron City, you can buy a very nice girl for 30 gold coins. I only added 10 gold coins because of you!”
Although Joey had never bought or sold women, he calculated the prices here in his mind and, combined with some memories from his previous life, deduced this price.
