Chapter 4 Stone Bridge Turns into Wooden Bridge

Why do I say that? Because that's how Joey and the bearded man met and became "brothers."

"Then, brother, do you know where these Draenei went?"

Seeing that the topic had turned to the Draenei, Joey took the opportunity to ask a question.

"I heard they went to Baron City, and the king promised them a living area!"

"However, I've also heard that some Draenei don't trust our human king. They worry that he only covets Draenei science and technology, so a large number of them plan to go elsewhere!"

The coachman deliberately lowered his voice when he said the last part, clearly showing that he was quite cautious about the king's criticism.

After listening, Joey nodded approvingly; both of the scenarios the coachman described were quite possible.

The Draenei were not originally inhabitants of this continent of Doraemon. Their spaceship crashed here, and tens of thousands of Draenei on board settled here more than 500 years ago.

The technology possessed by their race was unlike anything ever seen on this continent, naturally making it coveted by the native ruling forces.

However, compared to the Horde's brutal plundering methods, the Alliance's appeasement policy clearly won the Draenei's favor.

There were really no other third-party options, so we had no choice but to join the alliance.

"Since most of them are heading towards the capital, the situation is probably much more serious than I expected. Once this bridge is repaired, it looks like we'll have to get out of here as soon as possible!"

Joey pondered for a moment without showing any emotion, then stopped dwelling on the question and suddenly returned to the question the bearded man had asked earlier.

"This bridge no longer serves its original purpose, but in order to satisfy the officials above and at the same time line my own pockets, this wooden bridge must be repaired no matter what!"

After hearing Joey's words, the groom immediately continued:

"This wooden bridge definitely needs to be repaired. After this truckload of timber is delivered, there are still more than a dozen more waiting for me!"

"I heard the project needs to be completed this month. Your fat foreman has asked me to expedite the delivery of all the timber in the next couple of days!"

"More than ten trips? To be completed this month?"

Joey gleaned some important information from those words, but he didn't speak again in front of the coachman. Instead, he turned to look at the big-bearded man with a simple and honest face and shook his head gently.

The carriage continued its journey, and today's simple and unpretentious working life officially began.
