Chapter 57 Commander of the Second Knights

"Hey, big guy, I've been here for two days already, can't I go out for a walk?"

Joey opened the door, and a tall soldier immediately blocked his way, preventing him from leaving the room.

He returned to his room in frustration, muttering curses at the wooden soldier at the door and at this stupid place, Saibanda.

Since Joey and Vivian arrived in Saipan, they have been put into the two rooms they are currently in. Although there is only a wall between them, they have not seen each other for two days and can only communicate by knocking on the wall.

Catherine completely disappeared after she boarded the warship and did not live with the two of them.

Presumably, her identity is extraordinary, and this room, which Joey considered quite luxurious, is ultimately not worthy of her.

"Knock knock knock!"

Vivian from next door knocked on the wall again.

"Knock knock knock!"

Joey responded by knocking on the wall.

This was their secret code, meaning that they were both still in the room and currently safe.

However, Joey was quite worried about Catherine. After all, she owed him a lot of gold coins. Losing contact with Catherine before getting those coins back was like losing a huge sum of money, and his desire to find her was especially strong.

Logically, Catherine should have treated him with respect after returning to Saibanda, since he had gone to great lengths to bring her back safely. Why hadn't he heard from her in two days?

Is it that she doesn't want to contact me, or is someone preventing her from contacting me?

Everything seems to have become a mystery, and it appears that only by meeting Catherine herself or the person in charge of Saibanda can the truth of these matters be clarified.

Joey was feeling a bit down. Although he had been treated to good food and drinks these past few days, he just couldn't shake off his unease.

Joey walked to the window, pulled the curtains wide open, and shoved the window open, intending to enjoy the scenery and ease her boredom.

This location is great; it's practically a sea-view room, offering a clear view of the Saipan coastline.

There were still forty or fifty huge warships in the harbor of the fortress, and more than a hundred smaller warships, the same kind that had picked up Catherine a couple of days ago, were anchored on the sea.

There were countless cannons along the coast; Joey couldn't possibly count them all. He could only say that he had his eyes opened. Such heavy weapons with strong firepower were still very attractive to men.

"Knock knock knock—"

Just as Joey could see a red moon at the edge of the sea, he heard another knocking sound behind him.

The sound wasn't coming from the other side of the wall, but from the wooden door of the room.

"Is someone knocking on the door?"

Joey rushed to the door and deftly opened it.

A stern-looking man, around forty years old, stood at the door. He was fully armored, but the armor seemed different from that of the soldiers at the door, and looked more advanced.

He wasn't wearing a helmet, and a prominent scar ran from his forehead to his right cheek, highlighting his masculine charm. The helmet was being held by a soldier standing quietly behind him.

"It seems a superior officer has arrived!"

Joey muttered to herself and began to scrutinize the man in front of her, while the man was also scrutinizing Joey without any restraint.

"Your name is Joey Brown?"

In the end, it was this man who spoke first.

His voice was very magnetic, and even Joey was amazed, feeling that his voice was just as good as hers, and that they were evenly matched.

"Yes, my name is Joey Brown!"

"May I ask your name?"

This was Joey's first time meeting Saibanda's officers, so he naturally had to be polite. Even a powerful dragon can't suppress a local snake, and sometimes you have to be timid.

"I am Zoro, the captain of the Second Knights of Sebanda!"

"Thank you so much for bringing Lady Catherine back!"

Although Captain Zoro was expressing his gratitude, his expression suggested that his thanks were merely superficial. He was still scrutinizing Joey, seemingly distrusting the young man.

"The commander of the Second Knights?"

Joey felt that this official position was already quite high. The highest official he had ever seen in his previous life was a village party secretary. The sudden appearance of a knight order commander was enough to intimidate Joey, an ordinary citizen.

"Respected Captain Zoro, may I ask where Lady Catherine is now?"

Joey still felt he had to get down to business. After all, he understood that delays could lead to problems. He needed to see Catherine as soon as possible, settle his payment in one lump sum, and part ways amicably.

"Lady Catherine was escorted to Baron City yesterday by a small team I arranged!"

Commander Zoro looked at Joey calmly and casually told him the news.

"What? That silly girl just ran away like that?"

Joey's expression changed, and he no longer cared who was standing in front of him, and began to berate Catherine.

No wonder I haven't seen Catherine these past two days. It turns out she's already left. But why did she leave yesterday? And in such a hurry? Captain Zoro is really decisive in his actions. From another perspective, it seems that Captain Zoro doesn't even trust Joey. With this arrangement, even if Joey leaves now, he won't be able to catch up with Catherine at all.

"What did you say?"

Captain Zoro also heard what Joey said, and his expression instantly turned serious, his brows furrowing into a deep frown, indicating that he was somewhat angry.

Seeing that Captain Zoro's expression changed, Joey also readjusted his emotions. Now was not the time to turn against him, otherwise he might not even be able to leave this room.
