"Big Beard, how much more can you carry?"
Joey counted the pile of ore on the ground and asked the bearded man a question without looking up.
"I can probably still carry about 100 pounds, but I really can't carry any more than that!"
The bearded man looked at the ore covering the ground and was somewhat worried.
Joey has delayed his return to Saipan in order to learn the professional skill of mining.
His little pouch was already completely full, with plenty of gold and silver ore, but he didn't want the copper ore at all.
Now, in their eyes, Wawa is no longer a mentally unstable dog-headed man; he's practically their living father.
The two of them had barely reached the LV1 level in mining skills. If it weren't for the fact that they couldn't fit any more ore in their bags, they wouldn't have planned to return to Saibanda.
After all, with this skill, the captain position with 20 gold coins a month suddenly becomes less appealing.
However, given that these are just ores and require further processing such as smelting and sales, retaining a position in the military is also for future convenience.
"Alright then, the other silver mines will have to camp out here in the wild for now. We'll bring them home next time we have the chance!"
Joey was extremely reluctant to part with it. He still had feelings for these ores that he had worked so hard to obtain, though his feelings were only slightly less intense than those for the bearded man.
"Dig! Dig!"
Suddenly, the dog-headed man jumped and hopped excitedly.
"Dig, take a break, there's plenty of ore!"
Joey thought he had discovered some ore while digging, but he was no longer excited; instead, he felt a little disappointed.
"Dig! Dig!"
Digging showed no signs of stopping; he held his pickaxe and knife and gazed at the azure sky.
Joey was a little puzzled. Following the direction that Digg was looking, a black "cloud" was rapidly approaching from the edge of the azure sky.
"Boom boom boom..."
Those aren't dark clouds, they're airships, the tribe's airships!
Joey snapped out of his daze and looked in the direction the airship was heading.
Saipanda!
He muttered something under his breath, and his expression instantly turned extremely serious.
"Big Beard, put everything down. We need to get back to Saibanda quickly. Someone's trying to raid our base!"
I was just farming in my spare time, and these damned orcs actually tried to raid my base.
Although Joey was aware of the risks, based on his assessment of the strength of the Saibanda Fortress, this important military stronghold of the Alliance still had the ability to retaliate. Although there were quite a few enemies this time, those guys from Saibanda were not pushovers.
If I rush back now, I might still be able to get some soup.
Without hesitation, the bearded man did whatever Joey told him to do. Although he didn't understand where the airships above were going, he still threw down all the packed ore.
He followed behind Joey, and the two of them ran wildly toward Saibanda.
Seeing the two run away, Wawa didn't even need Joey to call him; he immediately put away his pickaxe and knife and diligently chased after them.
...
"Joey, is this Saibanda?"
Looking at the scene of corpses strewn across the land, the bearded man asked Joey beside him uncertainly.
His voice also carried a hint of sadness; he had developed some attachment to Saipan after spending so much time there.
Joey himself was also a little confused. The airship he had seen a few days ago had arrived half a day earlier than him, so how could Saibanda be in such a terrible state?
All the warships in the harbor were destroyed and lay scattered in the sea; most of the Alliance airships that were originally docked in the fortress were destroyed before they could even take off; the defensive cannons were all accurately destroyed, as if the tribe had known their location all along.
Corpses were everywhere in the fortress—Alliance and Horde, on land and in the sea—everywhere you looked, there were lifeless corpses.
The entire fortress is now unrecognizable, a scene of utter devastation.
"Big Beard, check if there are any survivors. Those from the tribe, finish them off with a blow. But the brothers from the fortress, make sure they live!"
After saying this, Joey ran towards Vivian's residence based on his memory.
"Vivian!"
"Vivian!"
Looking at the completely collapsed house in front of him, Joey couldn't help but worry about Vivian's safety.
"If only I had agreed to let her go back then!"
Joey felt a little guilty. If she hadn't asked Vivian to stay here before she left, she might have made a fuss with the child and left much earlier.
"Meow!"
At this moment, Blackie jumped off Joey's shoulder.
It stood in the spot that originally belonged to Vivian's room, circled around twice, then jumped back onto Joey's shoulder, looking around as if it were also searching for survivors.
A large fortress with multiple types of troops and complete equipment was actually destroyed.
Wouldn't the tribal armies that were originally located in the north and were tied down by it still make moves, and they would definitely do something to expand their gains?
Joey walked back somewhat dejectedly. After all, Vivian was gone, and finding a survivor in the current situation didn't seem so easy.
"Joey!"
"Joey, over here!"
The bearded man suddenly stood up from his position at the port and kept waving at Joey.
Joey hurriedly ran towards the bearded man's location.
As he got closer, he discovered that the bearded man was holding someone in his arms.
"Uriel!"
Joey crouched down and looked at Uriel, who was covered in blood and whose armor was tattered.
"Captain Joey!"
When Uriel saw that it was Joey, he became somewhat agitated and tried to struggle to his feet.
