Chapter 62 [VIP]
After chasing away the noisy man and dog, Pei Xingzhi lay alone on the bed, his thoughts in turmoil.
Too many things have happened lately, and the various complicated issues have left him dizzy and trapped in a vicious cycle where he just wants to escape. He hates these messy relationships that seem like a tangled ball of yarn that he can't untangle, but upon closer inspection, they are just a series of troubles strung together by one or two insignificant little things.
He still wants to leave this place, but he has no way to leave.
Oh well, I'll just take it one day at a time.
With too many worries lately, when Pei Xingzhi woke up the next day, the alarm clock had already rung four or five times. His brain heard the alarm, but his body didn't have the strength to turn it off.
Just as the alarm clock was about to issue its final ultimatum, Pei Xingzhi finally sat up, rubbing his swollen temples, and turned off the alarm. Pei Xingzhi was still wearing his pajamas, and his long, smooth hair was flowing freely because of his unruly sleeping posture. Coupled with his bewildered expression, he looked just like a lion cat that had just woken up.
"Woof!"
Wuyun cried out, broke free from Xie Nanyi's hands, and jumped in front of Pei Xingzhi. Pei Xingzhi lazily yawned, squatted down, and stroked Wuyun's fur.
“You went to bed so early last night and didn’t even eat dinner. To prevent you from sneaking away without eating breakfast this morning, I specially waited at your door to supervise you eating breakfast.” Xie Nanyi squatted down as Pei Xingzhi moved, and stroked Wuyun’s fur with his hand. “Wuyun, don’t you think so?”
"Woof!"
"Alright, alright, I know." Pei Xingzhi impatiently shook off Xie Nanyi's hand, his lips parted as if he had thought of something, and he closed them tightly again, his expression changing from impatient to calm.
"Don't squat by the door anymore. It's terrifying to see someone squatting there first thing in the morning," Pei Xingzhi said, picking up Wuyun and walking straight to the living room.
After Pei Xingzhi finished washing up, Xie Nanyi's breakfast was just placed on the table.
He gave Pei Xingzhi a flirtatious wink and placed the heart-shaped sandwich in front of him.
Pei Xingzhi completely ignored his thoughts, absentmindedly eating breakfast, his brain, which had just resumed its normal functioning, began to think about other things.
Chu Ling...
From the moment he first met Chu Ling, he had never understood this person. Why would a Beta pretend to be an Omega, even if it was just to get into the Alliance University... was it really necessary to pretend to be an Omega?

"It's nothing." Pei Xingzhi shook his head, swallowing back the words he was about to say.
Asking Xie Nanyi directly about the military was too blunt. Pei Xingzhi himself had never expressed any desire to join the military, and his brother wasn't an Omega. His social circle was small; anyone could easily guess who Pei Xingzhi was referring to.
Chu Ling and Xie Nanyi had previous dealings, and if a few words from me were to cause them to collude again, I would be the one who suffers the loss.
"What's wrong with you today? Why are you stammering?" Xie Nanyi glanced at Pei Xingzhi with a scrutinizing gaze, then propped her head up with one hand and raised an eyebrow at him, looking anything but friendly. "Are you hiding something from me? Are you keeping another man behind my back?"
"I already said I'm fine, what are you thinking!" Pei Xingzhi glared at him, completely ignoring Xie Nanyi sitting next to him as he quickly finished his breakfast.
From childhood to adulthood, everyone around him said he was smart, but Pei Xingzhi never felt that he was "smart".
Because he could never understand what the people around him were thinking.
Will you be back early today?
Pei Xingzhi was changing his shoes in the entryway when Xie Nanyi moved over at some point, leaning against the screen and whispering to him. Their intimate manner made it seem as if they were lovers who had been together for many years.
"I don't know," Pei Xingzhi answered truthfully. Recently, all sorts of unexpected events have been happening around him, and he'll soon have to get used to this life full of surprises.
"Then could you come back sooner for me and Wuyun?"
"Woof!"
Xie Nanyi brought up the dark clouds, and the two of them, one human and one dog, blinked their big, watery eyes and looked at Pei Xingzhi in a flattering manner.
Pei Xingzhi felt as if his eyes had been flashed, and could only helplessly close them.
"What's wrong with you today?" Pei Xingzhi snapped at him irritably, took the bag from Xie Nanyi's hand, and pushed open the door to leave.
Pei Xingzhi's fingertips touched the doorknob, and he suddenly turned around and gently kissed Xie Nanyi on the cheek.
"I'll try to come back as soon as possible."
After saying that, Pei Xingzhi pushed open the door and left, leaving Xie Nanyi alone at the door, staring blankly at the door that hadn't been closed yet.
Yesterday's chat with Chu Ling ended unpleasantly, so Pei Xingzhi didn't go looking for Chu Ling again today. Instead, he went to the classroom alone.
Although it's impossible to ask Xie Nanyi, who knows more about the situation, about Chu Ling, we can still get some information from his brother.

Pei Xingzhi tapped his head lightly against the table twice, then remembered what Chu Ling had said to him yesterday.
