Slowly opening her eyes, Lin Yang found herself back in the small dungeon surrounded by walls.
The man in front of me did not leave; he was still wearing a black mask, and I could not see any expression on his face.
He had his back to himself, as if he knew he had briefly left this world and gone to another dimension.
Standing here, gazing at the high-hanging iron bars on the windows.
Lin Yang didn't know what time it was, but judging from the sun's trajectory, she could roughly guess that it was noon, the time when the sun was at its strongest.
From a tiny ray of sunlight sneaking into this cramped dungeon, to the entire window being illuminated by the blazing sun.
Mr. Ex was dressed in all black, which seemed out of place against the bright sunlight streaming into the dungeon.
He was more like the night, while Xu Chengzhi was more like the day.
“Mr. Ex…” Lin Yang slowly got up from the concrete and called out to him, but then realized it was inappropriate and changed her address, “No, I should call you Boss? The master the system mentioned, you are the one, right? You planned this whole thing all by yourself, didn’t you?”
Upon hearing Lin Yang's repeated suspicions, Mr. Ex's body reacted, his fist trembling slightly, but he quickly returned to normal.
If Lin Yang hadn't been paying close attention to his every move, she probably would have missed this fleeting, subtle action and wouldn't have noticed it.
Through this subtle gesture, Lin Yang became even more certain of her guess, thinking, "I was right, wasn't I?"
Mr. Ex slowly turned around, the bright sunlight casting an eerie, cold light on his mask. He calmly retorted, "So what if it is? So what if it isn't?"
"What exactly is your purpose in designing all of this?" Despite the intimidating aura emanating from Mr. Ex, Lin Yang was determined to get to the bottom of it and find out the truth.
“Of course it’s you,” Mr. Ex sneered from beneath his mask. “If it weren’t for you, why would I have gone to all this trouble to plan this?”
“However…” Mr. Ex paused again, gently lifting Lin Yang’s chin with his index finger, “I really didn’t expect you to be so heartless as to insist on asking about that good-for-nothing’s whereabouts. What’s so good about him? Or rather, what is it about me that I can’t compare to him?”
"You're not allowed to call him trash." Lin Yang was very unhappy with Mr. Ex's disrespectful way of addressing him. After enduring it for a long time, she finally couldn't hold back anymore.
Like a protective mother, Lin Yang couldn't help but defend Xu Chengzhi and couldn't stand hearing others speak ill of him.
"Yangyang, why do you still cherish him so much?"
"This is none of your business." Lin Yang turned her head away.
"This is none of my business. Do you remember? Do you remember the good deeds Xu Cheng did in his previous life? How exactly did he treat you? Have you forgotten? Even if he treated you like that, would you still protect him? Yangyang." Mr. Ex's words struck Lin Yang's heart like blows, reminding her of the past she least wanted to remember.
She hadn't forgotten why she had harbored murderous intent in her previous life.
How did Xu Chengzhi suddenly change his personality, stop answering her calls, and become rumored to be having affairs with a bunch of strange women? There were also MMS photos sent by Lu Xiangxi, and then Xu Chengzhi unilaterally announced the divorce.
She remembers it all vividly.
However, she never forgot how much remorse and guilt she felt after killing Xu Cheng.
The thought of Xu Chengzhi's cold body lying in front of her made Lin Yang realize that all the harm Xu Chengzhi had done to her was nothing compared to the harm he had caused her while he was alive.
She wanted him to live so he could explain everything to her in person.
Her intuition told her that Xu Chengzhi had his reasons for doing those things.
“Yes, even so, I will defend him.” Lin Yang raised her head, her gaze fixed firmly on Mr. Ex.
