Chapter 273

Lin Yang stared intently at Mr. Ex with a firm and burning gaze, as if there were no longer any barriers between them.

His gaze seemed to penetrate the mask, as if he were staring a hole through Mr. Ax.

"So, please tell me, where is Xu Chengzhi? Okay?" Lin Yang looked at the silent Mr. Ex and couldn't help but ask again.

“I won’t tell you where he is. Forget about it. You’ll just stay here and not go anywhere until the mission is complete. Go back to where you came from.” Mr. Ex was not moved by Lin Yang’s determination. He spoke with a firm tone.

As if to vent his anger, he kicked the bowl that had been filled with chicken soup, then turned and left with his hands behind his back.

Throughout the entire process, Lin Yang was unable to see what expression was on Mr. Ex's face beneath his mask.

"Why? Why are you doing this to me? Why me of all people?!" Lin Yang wanted to get up and grab Mr. Ex to demand an explanation.

But as soon as she reached the door, the chains binding her wrists and ankles tightened, preventing her from moving forward.

The limit of the chain's length and range of motion was at the doorway.

The iron gate was tightly closed, and the bare inside had no doorknob; only those on the outside could push it open to enter.

Lin Yang helplessly pounded her fists on the iron gate, her hands turning red, her mouth still screaming, "Ex, tell me! Why me of all people! Why!"

The person had long since gone, and separated by a closed iron gate, she didn't know if anyone was outside, so she kept calling out.

She shouted until her voice was hoarse and she had no strength left to make a sound, then she slumped weakly against the iron gate and sat down on the ground.

Her eyes were empty, like a broken old doll abandoned here.

My stomach started growling again, much to my dismay.

Lin Yang had vomited up all the chicken soup she had managed to eat, leaving no food in her stomach for digestion.

"Why...why..." she murmured, her mind completely blank, unable to think of anything.

The sun had set sometime earlier, and the bright moon could be barely seen high above the iron bars of the window, its light spilling across the earth.

The faint, dim light barely added any brightness to the gloomy dungeon.

Lin Yang leaned against the iron gate, motionless, her eyes still open, and spent the night like that.

*

The following morning, the bright moon was replaced by the blazing sun.

The summer sun rises early, and the mornings are just as dazzling and sweltering.

Lin Yang curled up and lay down by the door, her eyes drooping, it was hard to tell whether she was asleep or not.

"Creak—" The iron gate, which had been locked all night, finally made a sound.

Slowly push it in until a narrow gap appears, then stop.

The iron gate was blocked by Lin Yang's body, which was positioned across the entrance. They wanted to push it open further, but they were afraid of hurting Lin Yang.

"Miss Lin, are you awake? Could you please move aside and not make things difficult for us servants?" Judging from the voice, it seemed to be the same maid who had tried to feed her yesterday.

Lin Yang remained motionless, her back to the door.

The maid's hand rested on the doorknob, unsure whether to go in or out.

If she fails to complete the task assigned by her husband today, she will naturally have to accept the punishment.

The maid's job was to wipe and clean Lin Yang's body, as well as clean the dungeon.

When Lin Yang was in a coma, she was the one who did these things.

Just as the maid was in a dilemma, she heard her respectfully call out towards the door, "Greetings, sir."

Lin Yang's droopy eyelids lifted slightly.
