Chapter 453 Phoenix's Side (Twenty-Eight)

The lamplight was dim, and a pale-faced woman lay in the dimly lit shed.

With a creak, the old wooden door made a broken sound, and a man in black clothes walked in carrying a plain white porcelain bowl.

Hearing the noise, the woman lying down struggled to sit up, her pale lips twitching. "What are you doing? Yi Mofeng, are you still going to put on this act with me at this point?" Even the name she was given was fake.

The man in black sat down, holding a porcelain bowl.

Upon closer inspection, who else could this man be but Yuefeng?

He picked up a spoon, scooped up the brownish soup from the porcelain bowl, blew on it to cool it, and put it to the woman's lips. "Stop talking nonsense and drink your medicine."

The woman turned to the side and closed her eyes.

"Su Chen, drink your medicine." Yi Mofeng said in a tone that left no room for refusal. "I'll only say it once."

"What, if I don't drink, you'll kill me again?" the woman asked, looking at him but her eyes were unfocused.

He frowned deeply, then pried open her cheek and forced the medicine down her throat.

"Cough cough cough..." As soon as he let go, Su Chen choked and coughed, feeling an indescribable discomfort in her throat.

Seeing that most of the medicine had been vomited up, Yi Mofeng frowned even more.

Looking at the remaining medicine in the bowl, Yi Mofeng looked up and drank it all in one gulp. The next second, he sealed Su Chen's lips and fed her the medicine.

Su Chen wiped her mouth with her sleeve and said in a nasty tone, "Tsk tsk, I didn't expect you to still have the interest to make fun of me at this point."

"It's just administering the medicine," Yi Mofeng said expressionlessly.

Su Chen looked incredulous and said, "Does feeding medicine have to be done like that lecherous man?"

"If you mind, I'll take responsibility." Yi Mofeng's breathing was a little unsteady, probably because he was angry with her.

"Oh." Su Chen only uttered a sound, without saying whether he should take responsibility.

Yi Mofeng had had enough of her nonchalant tone and demeanor; he had had enough of being ignored for the past three years!

He pinched Su Chen's chin and looked down at her face.

"That means I'll keep you outside, so don't even think about making you a concubine." Yi Mofeng's tone was cold, so cold it sent chills down your spine.

“What’s so good about a concubine? I don’t care for her.” Su Chen gave a pale smile. “She’s just something that can be given away.”

“The one I want to be…” she raised an eyebrow, raised her right hand to pry open the hand gripping her, “is your legal wife, your only legal wife.”

Yi Mofeng was taken aback. He naturally noticed the determination in her eyes, just like the way she looked at him at the tea party three years ago.

"Heh, just a prisoner of war." Yi Mofeng snapped out of his daze, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "Could it be that his brain has been fried and he's developed delusions?"

Su Chen laughed instead of getting angry upon hearing this, her body shaking with laughter.

"What are you laughing at?" Could it be that her brain has really been damaged by a fever? Yi Mofeng was startled and covered her forehead with his large hand.

"I laugh at your arrogance." Su Chen impatiently slapped his hand away. "How about we make a bet?"

Yi Mofeng felt relieved knowing that her fever had subsided.

He then asked, "What are we betting on?"

"I'll bet my heart." Su Chen smiled, but it was a wicked smile, not sincere at all.

Yi Mofeng's long eyelashes covered most of her eyes.

After a long pause, he finally said, "The wager."

Su Chen shook her head. "I haven't thought about it yet. I'll tell you when the time comes."

“It’s not fair that only you get one,” Yi Mofeng said, looking at the sword at his waist.

"Then what's your bet? If I don't win your heart, what do you want?" Su Chen raised her eyes and looked at him seriously. This was the first time in the past three years, apart from when they were in the space, that she had looked at him so seriously.

Yi Mofeng clenched his fist, then loosened it. "I want... your life to end only in my hands."

"good."
