When those words came true, Su Chen wanted nothing more than to slap her past self. Unfortunately, time cannot be reversed, and the past cannot be turned back.
Su Chen ultimately did not become the mistress Yi Mofeng had promised, but instead became Su·Maid·Chen, which was even worse than being a mistress.
This maid wasn't even Yi Mofeng's personal maid, but rather... from the laundry department.
The Laundry Bureau wasn't just a place for washing clothes; it was also where female prisoners of war were housed. They were mostly young women who couldn't be assigned to various places as concubines or maids.
However, some insignificant individuals inevitably come along to take advantage of the situation.
Su Chen really didn't know what Yi Mofeng was thinking. She guessed that he wanted to get revenge for that time he slept with her three years ago, which was why he arranged for her to be here.
But... is it really necessary to be so cruel? The women in this place are worse than even the cheapest prostitutes in the back alleys! It's a place that doesn't treat women like human beings at all.
Su Chen thought of the Jingkang Incident in history, where none of the fallen imperial princesses were recorded as having ever left the laundry department.
Is she also going to be humiliated here and then kick the bucket?
Su Chen frowned and asked, "This... was this really arranged for me by that villain?"
Ningwu: [Ang.]
"Does he really want his woman to be ruined by other men?" Su Chen's expression was somewhat chapped.
Ningwu: [I don't know, but it's possible.]
Su Chen: ...
"Then I'll let him have his way."
"What are you trying to do? Don't do anything rash, Su Chen!" Ning Wu was greatly alarmed and quickly tried to dissuade him.
"Don't worry, it's not what you think." Su Chen smiled and tapped her skill bar.
Ningwu finally breathed a sigh of relief after looking at the skill panel. She knew her host couldn't be that reckless! She definitely couldn't do something that would hurt herself just to torment others!
"Are you standing still like a block of wood? Get to work!"
Su Chen felt a kick to her lower back, and the pain shot straight to the top of her head.
She turned around, her face grim as she glared at the person behind her. It was a sturdy woman dressed in a magenta linen dress, with deep nasolabial folds so pronounced they could crush flies, and droopy, triangular eyes that gleamed with an unpleasant, sinister light.
"What are you glaring at me for? Believe me or not, I'll gouge your eyes out!" the old woman said, taking off her shoe and slapping Su Chen's face.
The movement was so fluid and seamless that if Su Chen hadn't possessed martial arts skills, her face might have been swollen from the slap.
"Oh, you dare to dodge?" The old woman was even angrier. She pounced on Su Chen like a bear, grabbing her hair and trying to slam her face to the ground.
Su Chen felt a sharp pain in her scalp and worried about her thinning hair. Would this woman really cause her to become bald from scratching her hair like this?
It wasn't until her face made intimate contact with the ground that Su Chen realized that disfigurement was perhaps even more unacceptable than baldness.
Su Chen would rather let her pull his hair, enduring the pain as he sprang to his feet and unleashed a flurry of punches at the old woman's face.
While the old woman was strong, she lacked any real skill or technique. When she fought, she acted like a shrew, scratching her face, pulling her hair, and slamming her fists on the ground. In terms of agility, she was definitely no match for Su Chen.
Su Chen used only ten moves to imprison her under his feet, and couldn't help but kick her a few more times.
The woman's face was a terrible sight, bruised and swollen, even more unbearable to look at than when she was first seen.
Despite the horrific scene, she still yelled at Su Chen's feet, "You...you just wait!"
"Hmm?" Su Chen smiled and kicked again. This time she kicked with all her might.
The woman couldn't hold on and fainted.
