Chapter 56: Subspace Gravitational Source

"Xia...Xia Shengli." The apprentice lowered his head and answered Nolan's question cautiously.

"Look how scared you are of that kid." Nolan winked at Chang Renfei, signaling him to be quiet. Then he grabbed Xia Shengli's hand and said affectionately, "Tell me what's going on. Don't pay attention to that mad dog, Old Chang."

Xia Shengli glanced at Lao Chang timidly, finally made up his mind, and spoke.

"There's something in the Stargate."

"What is it?" Nolan asked curiously. He had been the squadron leader for decades and had never heard anyone say that there was something inside the star gate.

Although he wasn't a technician in the relevant field, it was common knowledge that the subspace was a world composed of pure energy. The energy within it was corrosive to all matter in the universe. Without the protection of the giant bosonic field, even the miraculous zero element couldn't survive there for long.

"I...I don't know." Xia Shengli shook his head like a rattle, "But it was a very heavy one."

"How heavy is it?" Nolan once again stopped Lao Chang from interrupting and forcefully shoved a newly grown tentacle back in.

"About... 500 million tons."

Chang Renfei finally couldn't bear it anymore.

With a crackling sound, the fabric of Lao Shan's uniform ripped into pieces. Seven or eight tentacles of varying sizes sprouted from his back, two of which grabbed Xia Shengli's feet, while the rest tangled around his legs, dangling him upside down.

"What nonsense are you talking about, kid? Do you know what 500 million tons means? Are you trying to tell me there's a war moon in our passage?"

Of course, a serious war month is not so easy.

Xia Shengli did not respond to him. The young man was panicked by the sudden change. He struggled in the air like a swing and let out a pig-slaughtering scream.

"Do you know? Do you know?" Lao Chang was relentless and kept asking.

"Old Chang! You're going too far!" Nolan hadn't expected Old Chang to suddenly explode. He grabbed one of the tentacles and pulled it down hard. Of course, Old Chang had no intention of actually harming his disciple, so he took advantage of the situation and put Xia Shengli on the ground.

Xia Shengli quickly got up from the ground, took two steps at a time and retreated a few meters away. Then he reached out and wiped the mucus off his face, spreading the sticky white translucent liquid evenly on his face.

"Go on," Nolan gestured.

But Xia Shengli kept his mouth shut and just shook his head.

So Nolan looked at Lao Chang, who understood and stretched out a few tentacles.

"I was wrong before, and I apologize. But if you still don't tell me, I'm going to do it."

You must be sick.

A thousand alpaca horses were galloping through Xia Shengli's heart.

It was you who asked me not to talk about it before, and it is you who asked me to talk about it now.

"Speak." A word came out of Lao Chang's lips. His voice, which was not very low, sounded like the devil's voice to Xia Shengli's ears, making the latter shiver.

"I'll tell you, I'll tell you." Xia Shengli hurriedly rubbed the sticky liquid on his hands on a clean part of his clothes, then carefully moved closer to Nolan and turned over the A4 paper that Lao Chang had previously turned upside down on the table.

"The Warp has some similar physical properties to our world. For example, massive objects in our world will cause the distortion of space, and this distortion will manifest in the form of gravity. The same is true for the Warp."

"So, by analyzing the distribution range of the purple-pink mist in the subspace, we can get the general distribution of mass in space. Although there are some fluctuations, the overall distribution of mass in the subspace is uniform and isotropic."

Having said that, Xia Shengli glanced at Chang Renfei and saw the latter nodded unhappily, so he swallowed and continued.

"But look here, here, these places."

He flipped through the papers quickly, pointing his finger at several data points marked with red marker.

"There are abnormal distributions of spatial fog in these areas, and diffraction interference has also been detected in the spectrum rays."

He turned the A4 paper to the last page, which contained the complicated analysis chart.

"This is the final calculation algorithm and the conclusion reached. More than 500 million tons of mass are concentrated in that anomalous area."

After finishing his inference, Xia Shengli paused for a moment. He looked at Lao Chang as if he wanted to get some confirmation from the latter.

"I've seen these data." Seeing Nolan looking at him, Chang Renfei said uncomfortably, "His calculation process is correct, but the algorithm is problematic."

"What's the problem?" Xia Shengli asked suddenly.

"You brat!" Chang Renfei glared at him fiercely, but didn't get angry. He took out a pen and scribbled on the A4 paper his apprentice had printed out.

"These diffraction patterns are the result of concentration obscuration. Although the data is thicker than conventional obscuration, it does not exceed the theoretical limit. Moreover, this fog will erode the tachyon beam emitted by this universe, which also explains why we cannot establish contact with the other side."

"Then how do you explain the sudden change in fog concentration?" Xia Shengli's voice was no longer as confident as before, but he still raised his doubts with a glimmer of hope.

"How come we've never seen anything like this before?"

Chang Renfei rolled his eyes. "That's because you have little experience and experience. It's you who hasn't seen it, not us."

"Go back home tonight and re-copy the 'Introduction to Leaps' for me. Didn't you check the date before you went out? The subspace is very active right now, and it's not just here, the whole world is in this mess. It's just that we're in the construction phase, so the channels are not perfect and the equipment is more sensitive. Do you understand?"

Perhaps feeling a little guilty about his apprentice's lost expression, Lao Chang sighed and continued.

"You have a way to prove the existence of those things. Such a large mass cannot be native to the subspace. Such a large mass will inevitably cause the fog to collapse further, which will reveal the source of gravity. If we are lucky, we can then use tachyon beams to directly observe the obscured area..."

Sometimes a slap in the face comes so suddenly. Before Lao Chang could finish his words, a burst of uproar came from behind him.

"Old Chang! Mr. Chang! Something terrible has happened!"

"Why are you arguing? Just say what you want to say!" Lao Chang didn't tolerate him. Some things in the project could only be solved by shouting loudly.

"There's something! There's something in the passage!"
