Chapter 117 Knocking out teeth and swallowing blood

Hearing Wei Changfeng's words, Lin Xiao couldn't help but burst into tears, even though she gritted her teeth.

Looking at Wei Changfeng, who was soaked from head to toe, she couldn't help but reach out to touch his arm, his wet bangs, and his face, which was wet with either rain or tears.

Just as her arm was outstretched in mid-air, Yang Xile called out to her casually from behind, "Xiaoxiao, who is this friend of yours? Why don't you invite him in to sit down?"

Lin Xiao's arm stopped there, just a hand's breadth away from Wei Changfeng's body.

She came to her senses, paused for a moment, and then lowered her head to say to Wei Changfeng, "Why did you come? Did you have to see me at my worst? Well, you've seen it today, and that's the real reason I want to break up with you."

Wei Changfeng let the tears stream down his face, figuring that with the rain, it wouldn't be too embarrassing.

"I'm sorry, did I disturb you?" After what seemed like an eternity, he finally managed to utter these words.

Lin Xiao didn't respond; she really didn't know how to answer that question. Wei Changfeng put the ring he had just taken off back onto the flower stem, gave a wry smile, and said, "Xiao Xiao, I'm leaving now. I wish you happiness." With that, he turned to leave.

Lin Xiao could no longer contain herself. She rushed to the door and grabbed his sleeve tightly.

Wei Changfeng turned his head in shock and saw that Lin Xiao's eyes were red from crying and tears were streaming down her face.

He turned around, about to walk towards Lin Xiao, when he heard Yang Xile speak coldly: "Xiao Xiao, didn't you say your father prefers me?"

He brought up Lin Xiao's father and began to solemnly warn her.

Lin Xiao understood what he meant, turned to look at him, hesitated, and said, "I saw that he was soaking wet, and I just wanted him to change into some drier clothes before he left." Although she said that, she still held tightly to Wei Changfeng's sleeve.

Seeing this, Yang Xile continued, "Alright, go to the bedroom and find two of my old clothes. I think this friend should be able to wear them."

Yang Xile had never stayed overnight at Lin Xiao's place, let alone left any of his old clothes in the bedroom. He was saying this to Wei Changfeng. As a fellow man, if Wei Changfeng could remain unmoved and continue to stay after hearing these suggestive, provocative, and insulting words, then he would truly appreciate the man's composure and frightening nature.

Just as he expected, Wei Changfeng was almost as naive as Lin Xiao, and easily manipulated. His face flushed red upon hearing Yang Xile's words, and he didn't want to stay there a minute longer.

Lin Xiao clung to him, unwilling to let go of his sleeve, knowing that doing so would mean they would be forever separated. But Wei Changfeng could no longer endure this humiliation. He glanced at Lin Xiao one last time, gritted his teeth, and said, "Let go!"

Lin Xiao genuinely wanted him to change into dry clothes before leaving, fearing that he might get sick or encounter misfortune if he went out soaking wet.

She understood what Yang Xile was saying; she knew she didn't have any of his so-called old clothes. But she did have new clothes she had bought for Wei Changfeng! And clothes she had prepared when the two of them stayed here briefly last time.

"Changfeng, change your clothes before you leave, you'll get sick like this. Here are some clothes for you, change into them before you go," Lin Xiao pleaded pitifully.

Wei Changfeng felt heartbroken, humiliated, and filled with unvented anger. He finally turned his sharp spear towards Lin Xiao and said to her, "Can you leave after you change your clothes? Are you still worried and want me to sleep here again? To watch you two interact? Or do you want the three of us to be together?"

Lin Xiao finally let go, finally. Wei Changfeng pulled back his sleeve and strode forward.

Yang Xile called out from behind him, "Hey, there's a trash can at the corner downstairs. Don't throw your trash in the hallway, and you can't throw it in the elevator either. We'll get complaints if visitors litter!"

The three of them understood what he meant by "trash"—the tattered rose with the ring still attached to it in Wei Changfeng's arms.

Wei Changfeng managed to hail a taxi in the pouring rain and headed to Charles de Gaulle Airport.

He did indeed throw the roses into the large trash can at the corner, just as Yang Xile had asked.

But as soon as he got into the taxi, he felt an unbearable pain in his heart, as if countless sharp knives were constantly stabbing at his heart.

Why did he say those things to Lin Xiao at the end? Since things had come to this, and since he had done everything he could to salvage the situation, there should be no regrets. Why couldn't they have said goodbye properly, stopping at the moment of "I wish you happiness"?

Why did he have to humiliate Lin Xiao again when she was already crying so hard? She's just a young girl, all alone out there without anyone to keep her company. It's normal for her to fall for someone else, right? Maybe that man helped her when she needed him most, and warmed her heart when she needed warmth the most. But he wasn't there for her, and he didn't do anything for her. That's why she chose to leave him and go to a new lover, right?

He was heartbroken, not only for his own heartbreak, but also for the knife-like words he said to Lin Xiao at the end.

As they approached the airport, Wei Changfeng took out his phone and sent Lin Xiao a final text message: "Lin Xiao, I'm sorry about earlier. I wish you happiness in the future, from the bottom of my heart."

He checked his phone for a while after speaking, but there was no reply. Haha, what was he even expecting? Those two were probably already making love, weren't they?

After mocking his own foolishness, Wei Changfeng pressed the delete button on Lin Xiao's WeChat.
