Chapter 6 The Breakdown in the Hotel

That evening, Wei Changfeng worked out on the treadmill at the gym for over an hour. When he returned to his room, he was not only exhausted, but more importantly, starving.

The hotel dinner featured many classic French dishes, but just like at lunchtime, he only took a small bite.

But how could a tall man of over 1.8 meters, in his prime, possibly keep up with such a small amount of food?

I'm so hungry! I'm practically starving.

Before exercising, I didn't realize it, but after running and burning off the calories, my whole body and mind seemed to be protesting against the abuse I had done to my stomach.

Wei Changfeng tried to numb himself by thinking that he would stop feeling hungry if he fell asleep quickly, but it was completely ineffective.

Firstly, he was extremely hungry, and secondly, he was jet-lagged; the more he tried to sleep, the more awake he became.

Having no other choice, I finally got out of bed, went to the window, pulled back the curtains, and looked outside.

The Ritz Hotel has only five floors, and its guest rooms are on the fourth floor, so they don't have a full view of Paris.

The hotel faces Place Vendôme, where the lights still shine at night, and the tall bronze column in the center appears even more solemn and majestic in the darkness.

This bronze pillar is said to have been cast from the melted-down 1,200 cannons that Napoleon won in a battle, and it is topped with a statue of him.

But at this moment, Wei Changfeng had no interest in studying history and cultural relics.

Outside the window was the dazzling lights of Paris, and before him was a magnificent and opulent decoration. But who could believe that he was staying in a five-star luxury hotel and hadn't even had a decent meal?

Waaah, this is so tragic. He felt so sorry for himself just thinking about it.

He had so much delicious food in front of him, but he didn't appreciate it.

There is no greater pain in the world than to regret something only when you lose it.

"I'm so stupid! Wei Changfeng, you'll definitely die from your own stupidity!"

Wei Changfeng was so hungry that he cursed himself. He saw stars before his eyes, all of which were the various delicacies that had been placed in front of him but which he had not eaten.

No, I can't sleep if I'm this hungry.

He thought about it and realized that tomorrow's event was at 2 p.m. French time. If he got up at 7 a.m. and the makeup artist came to do his hair and makeup, he would have about two or three hours to spare.

This period can be used for exercise and reducing swelling, so it shouldn't be a problem to eat a couple more bites tonight.

The hotel offers room service, but since his agent, Zhao Hui, was sleeping in the outer room of the suite, he dared not order room service under any circumstances.

So he had no choice but to tiptoe to the sofa and search for a backpack that Xiao Hao had left in his room during the day.

He knew that Xiao Hao's backpack was practically a treasure trove. This little assistant loved eating all sorts of snacks, just like a child, and he would always hide them to prevent Xiao Hao from stealing them.

Zhao Hui would scold Xiao Hao whenever he saw Wei Changfeng eating random things.

Less than two minutes later, Wei Changfeng indeed found half a bag of instant noodles and two chocolate pies in the innermost layer of his backpack, and started eating them right away.

It's a pity there are no sausages! Wei Changfeng sighed, but then he suddenly wondered if sausages were also prohibited from being brought into France, just like in Japan?

Luckily, Xiao Hao didn't bring them, otherwise these things might have been confiscated, and I would really have nothing to eat right now.

Wei Changfeng chewed the instant noodles very quietly, afraid of disturbing Zhao Hui outside. But the feeling of sneaking a bite to eat in the middle of the night was really delicious!

Who would have thought that a big star, in the world's most luxurious city and a paradise of gourmet food, would sneak into these meals in a five-star hotel while trying to avoid the supervision of his assistant and agent?

All the self-discipline I'd put into this long day crumbled at this moment, and all the sweat-drenched workout I'd done over an hour that evening was for nothing.

"Alas, if I had known this would happen, I would have been better off eating properly at every meal," Wei Changfeng thought with deep regret.

The next morning, as soon as he opened his eyes, he was met with several extremely cold gazes.

He was still a little dazed, and only realized that he was in a hotel instead of at home when he instinctively reached for the mirror by the bed.

So he immediately jumped up to look for the wall mirror: sure enough, Zhao Hui and Xiao Hao's piercing gazes had a source—he was swollen again!

Because of his momentary indulgence last night, Wei Changfeng's face was swollen twice as much this morning.

Even if he gets swollen, his face is still the size of a normal person's. As long as his eyebrows and eyes remain the same, he will still look handsome.

However, in the entertainment industry where the camera is king and appearance is almost more important than anything else, if a celebrity is even slightly swollen, they will be ridiculed as greasy and overweight, as if there is yeast in the air...blablabla.

Just thinking about the potential deluge of negative comments online gave Wei Changfeng a headache.

If I had known this would happen, I would have resisted the hunger last night!

People prone to edema should especially control their food and water intake the night before, otherwise their face will look like it's been soaked the next day.

The swelling usually subsides gradually in the afternoon, a few hours after waking up, as time and activity levels increase, and the swelling is at its best in the evening.

His agent, Zhao Hui, once suspected that he had ruined his liver by filming day and night for the past two years.

It is said that impaired liver function can easily lead to edema.

As a result, they took him to the hospital for a thorough examination, and the report came back saying that this kid was stronger than an ox.

When boss Wu Fei saw Wei Changfeng's medical examination report, his face lit up with a smile. It seemed he could give him even more work!

Taking advantage of my popularity these past few years and my packed workload, I want to maintain my popularity and make the company a fortune while I'm at the peak of my career.

Popularity in the entertainment industry is strange; sometimes you can't help but believe it.
