Chapter 34 Ambiguous Scenes in the Locker Room
After the commotion subsided, the shop assistant led the two to the dressing room, carrying two new Chinese-style formal dresses.
The cubicle wasn't very spacious; Xie Lin's long legs took up most of the space.
Lin Mianmian clutched the pink, water-reflected pear blossom cheongsam dress, and was about to close the door to change when her wrist was grabbed.
Xie Lin pressed against her from behind, his chest against her back, his warm breath brushing against her earlobe.
With a slightly roguish smile, he said, "Baby, why are you hiding? It's not like we haven't seen it before."
Lin Mianmian struggled hard but couldn't break free: "Xie Lin, this is the women's changing room, stop messing around."
"What are you afraid of?" Xie Lin chuckled, his fingertips twirling the cheongsam in her hand.
His gaze fell on her slender waist, and his Adam's apple bobbed. "I'll help you change, and I promise my hands will stay put."
As he spoke, he tried to lift the hem of her clothes, but Lin Mianmian slapped him away forcefully.
The little girl's eyes reddened with anger. She turned around and glared at him, her nose trembling: "If you keep acting like a hooligan, I won't film today!"
Seeing that she was really anxious, Xie Lin's smile deepened, so he withdrew his hand and obediently retreated to the doorway.
He didn't actually go out, but leaned against the door frame, his gaze fixed on her, like a wolf waiting for its chance.
Lin Mianmian turned her back to him and hurriedly changed into her cheongsam.
The silk fabric glided over my fair, tender skin, so smooth it felt so good it made me itch.
But the gaze behind her was too intense, making her tense all over, and she couldn't even button her clothes properly.
She finally managed to put on the dress, but she couldn't fasten the buttons on the back no matter what she tried, making her sweat with anxiety.
She bit her lip, about to call for a clerk, when she heard footsteps behind her.
Xie Lin walked around behind her, his warm fingertips gently hooking the clasp, his movements incredibly slow.
His chest pressed against her back, his breath brushing against her neck, causing her to tremble.
One by one, the buttons were fastened, revealing her delicate waistline. Xie Lin's fingertips inadvertently brushed against her waist, his voice hoarse: "Sweetie, your waist is so thin, it's deadly."
Lin Mianmian's heart skipped a beat, her whole body stiffened like a stone, and she even forgot to say a rebuttal.
Xie Lin tidied her stray hairs at her collar, then turned around to change his own clothes.
The dark bamboo-patterned modern Chinese-style suit made his shoulders appear broad and his waist narrow.
The cuffs were embroidered with subtle patterns, and the top button was fastened, giving off a cool yet sophisticated vibe.
He stood in front of the mirror, raised his hand to tug at his collar, turned to look at Lin Mianmian, and his peach blossom eyes curved into a captivating arc: "Look at me."
Lin Mianmian looked up and froze instantly.
The man was too stunning.
The blend of nobility and wildness is so captivating that it makes one's heart pound.
Before she could react, Xie Lin pulled her to the mirror.
He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, and their figures were reflected in the mirror. The pink cheongsam paired with the dark black modern Chinese style made them a perfect match, a handsome man and a beautiful woman.
Xie Lin lowered his head, resting his chin on her shoulder, his nose brushing against her earlobe: "Mianmian, look at us, our chemistry is about to explode."
Xie Lin chuckled.
Looking at herself and him in the mirror, Lin Mianmian did indeed have an indescribable feeling of being a perfect match.
Xie Lin led Lin Mianmian out of the dressing room.
As soon as the two stepped out of the dressing room, the shop assistants and photographers outside were immediately taken aback and couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
"My goodness! This is such a perfect match!" the photographer exclaimed, holding up his camera. "The new Chinese style looks absolutely stunning on you!"
The shop assistant next to them chimed in, "Yeah, yeah! With looks like that and that charisma, it's a shame they're not our store's couple mannequins!"
"We're thinking of taking a set of modern Chinese-style couple promotional photos. Would you like to consider it?"
Xie Lin looked down at the blushing little girl in his arms, a roguish smile playing on his lips. He reached out and ruffled her hair. "My little girl is a bit shy. Let her get used to it. We'll talk about this later."
Shop assistant: "Sure, you can take your photos first, and we can talk after you're done."
The scene in the studio had already been set up, with red walls and black tiles, a guzheng placed next to the moon gate, and a few red plum blossoms in the corner.
The photographer was directing the two to pose, and had just said, "Get closer."
Xie Lin immediately reached out and pulled Lin Mianmian into his arms, resting his chin on her shoulder.
Her peach blossom eyes curved into an alluring arc, and her gaze towards the camera was filled with an undisguised possessiveness.
It was Lin Mianmian's first time taking photos at the store, and she didn't even know where to put her hands, so she could only let him hold her hand.
"Smile, Mianmian." Xie Lin's voice rang close to her ear, warm and gentle. "You look beautiful when you smile."
Lin Mianmian bit her lip and forced a smile, unsure if it was the right way to smile or if it would look good in the photo.
Lin Mianmian is so beautiful that her casual smile could be used as a WeChat profile picture.
The photographer took several photos and couldn't help but exclaim, "So beautiful! You're in great shape! Mr. Xie's performance is also fantastic!"
Xie Lin beamed with joy, then leaned down and pecked Lin Mianmian's lips, a move so swift it caught everyone off guard.
Lin Mianmian's face instantly turned red. She reached out and punched him, but he grabbed her wrist and they intertwined their fingers.
The photoshoot went very smoothly. During a break, a staff member brought over two cups of milk tea and said with a smile, "Mr. Xie, Ms. Lin, your photos are absolutely stunning, world-class!"
"Would you like to be our shop's couple models? This photoshoot is free, and we can give you more if you come back later..."
Before he could finish speaking, Xie Lin interrupted him.
He took the milk tea, inserted a straw, and held it to Lin Mianmian's lips.
"You can be a model, but there's no need to do it for free. My little girl loves taking pictures, so we'll come often in the future."
He paused, then looked at the shop assistant, a roguish glint in his peach blossom eyes: "However, I have one request."
Shop assistant: "Mr. Xie, please speak."
Xie Lin whispered a few words in the male shop assistant's ear.
The shop assistant laughed out loud at his words and nodded repeatedly, "Don't worry, Mr. Xie."
Lin Mianmian sipped her milk tea, watching him chat and laugh with the shop assistant, and was a little dazed.
She looked down at her cheongsam and then at Xie Lin's modern Chinese style.
The two people in the mirror stood together, looking incredibly well-matched. The little flutter in my heart that I had been forcibly suppressing began to secretly resurface.
By the time filming ended, the sun was almost setting.
Xie Lin took Lin Mianmian's hand and walked out. As soon as they stepped out of the photography studio, they saw a black Maybach parked on the side of the road.
He opened the passenger door, helped her into the car, and bent down to fasten her seatbelt.
"Are you hungry?" Xie Lin started the car and turned to look at her. "I'll take you to eat your favorite sweet and sour pork ribs."
Lin Mianmian nodded, looking at the scenery passing by outside the window, her heart suddenly softened completely.
She turned to look at Xie Lin. His hands, gripping the steering wheel, had distinct knuckles. The setting sun shone on his handsome profile, making him incredibly alluring and impossible to look away from.
The man in front of her was arrogant and domineering, roguish yet deeply affectionate.
He was clearly the Celestial Dragons' precious treasure, yet he was willing to bow his head to her time and time again.
Lin Mianmian's fingertips curled up slightly, and a thought suddenly popped into her mind: perhaps, that feeling of attraction had long since become more than just a little.
But as soon as the thought popped into her head, she ruthlessly extinguished it.
The image of her grandmother lying in the hospital bed, holding her hand, vividly appeared before her eyes.
Grandma's voice was choked with sobs, each word like a needle piercing her heart: "Mianmian, our family and the Xie family are not a good match. Rich young men like them love to play with girls, let alone us, who are poor."
"Don't fall in love. If you do, you'll only end up hurting yourself."
Grandma's words were like a bucket of cold water, instantly extinguishing the warmth in her heart.
Lin Mianmian lowered her eyelashes, concealing the complex emotions in her eyes, her fingertips unconsciously picking at the hem of her clothes.
Yes, how could she forget?
She and Xie Lin were from completely different worlds.
She could laugh with him, make a fuss with him, and even stay by his side temporarily because of that favor.
But being tempted is not an option.
Absolutely not.
Xie Lin seemed to notice her silence, turned his head to look at her, and reached out to ruffle her hair.
The heat from his palm made her scalp tingle: "Why aren't you saying anything? Are you tired?"
Lin Mianmian raised her head, gave a faint smile, and shook her head: "No, I was just thinking that the sweet and sour pork ribs should be sweet and sour."
Xie Lin looked at the aloofness she deliberately concealed in her eyes.
His Adam's apple bobbed, but he didn't say anything. He just smiled and said in a doting tone, "Okay, whatever you say."
The car slowly drove into the traffic, and the light of the setting sun grew fainter and fainter.
Lin Mianmian looked out the window, and the slight flutter in her heart was forcefully suppressed back to the deepest part of her soul.
She told herself, "Lin Mianmian, wake up."
I can accompany him, but I absolutely cannot fall in love with him.
