Chapter 33 Slapping My Cousin's Face
The ambiguity in the bathroom hadn't dissipated when Xie Lin grabbed a bath towel, wrapped Lin Mianmian up like a ball, and carried her back to the bedroom.
Lin Mianmian was almost bullied to tears by Xie Lin. Xie Lin comforted Lin Mianmian for a while and then sent her back to school.
The next morning, Lin Mianmian's phone kept vibrating; when she opened it, it was bombarded with WeChat messages from Xie Lin.
[Baby, are you awake yet?]
I'll give you half an hour to pack. I'll wait for you downstairs at your dorm.
You're not allowed to say no. If you dare not come, I'll carry you there myself.
Don't push me, I'll go up and ambush you right now.
Looking at the threatening messages, and remembering that she still had a lot of important material to review, Lin Mianmian gripped her phone and replied, "No, I need to review."
The message had barely been sent when the phone rang. Xie Lin's voice was magnetic and sexy: "Baby, I don't care, you have to take these couple photos today, whether you like it or not."
"If you dare to hide, I'll just rush into your dorm and carry you out. The whole school will be watching. I'm a grown man, I'm not afraid of anything, and I don't care about losing face."
"You young girls are easily embarrassed, so don't say I bullied you later."
These words left Lin Mianmian speechless. He knew the young girl was shy, so he said it on purpose.
He and Mianmian have been together for so long, but they don't even have a proper photo together. Recently, the new Chinese style couple photos are very popular, and he wants to try it with Mianmian.
She bit her lip, hesitated for a long time, and finally dawdled downstairs.
Xie Lin leaned against the black Maybach, his silver hair sticking up, clearly having just woken up and gone out. Being handsome has its advantages; even in a simple white T-shirt, he looked like a runway model.
With broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long, straight legs, he attracted frequent glances from girls passing by on campus. He saw Lin Mianmian, raised an eyebrow, smiled, and opened the passenger door: "Princess, please get in."
Lin Mianmian dawdled as she sat down, turning her face away from him the whole time, looking like a wronged little wife.
Seeing this, Xie Lin kissed Lin Mianmian's tender little face a few times: "Baby, don't be angry. If you get angry, your husband will be heartbroken. Why don't you hit me?"
As he spoke, Xie Lin brought his handsome face close to Lin Mianmian's, making all sorts of funny faces.
Lin Mianmian couldn't help but laugh.
"That's right! Sit tight, honey, let's go!"
Upon arriving at the photography studio, Xie Lin received a phone call. He frowned slightly, leaned down to Lin Mianmian's ear, and said apologetically, "Baby, I'm going to the restroom. You go in and wait for me, don't wander off."
Lin Mianmian didn't say anything, watched him turn and enter the shopping mall next door before pushing open the door and walking into the photography shop.
As soon as I entered, a sharp, sarcastic voice pierced the air: "Oh, isn't this Lin Mianmian, the talented young lady of the Lin family?"
Lin Mianmian turned around, her face instantly darkening.
The person who came was her cousin, Lin Meilan, wearing a pink dress, with makeup so thick it looked like it was falling off, and lipstick that looked like she had just drunk blood.
Beside her was a middle-aged man with a round beer belly, his belt barely able to hold back his flabby flesh, his hair so thin you could see his scalp, and his greasy face with wrinkles piling up when he smiled.
His eyes leered as he scanned Lin Mianmian's body, making one's skin crawl.
Lin Meilan held the man's arm, her chin held high, looking as if she wanted to announce it to the whole world.
"Mianmian, let me introduce you. This is my boyfriend, Mr. Wang. He's in the building materials business and has a lot of money. He owns three luxury cars!"
Mr. Wang grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth, and reached out to pat Lin Mianmian's shoulder: "The young lady is quite pretty, much better than Meilan."
Lin Mianmian took a step back in disgust, avoiding his touch.
Lin Meilan's face immediately fell when she saw that Lin Mianmian was all alone.
His arrogance grew even stronger: "What? You came alone? Didn't you say you found a really amazing partner? Why don't you dare bring him to meet everyone? I think you're just bragging!"
She looked Lin Mianmian up and down, her eyes practically overflowing with contempt for her inexpensive clothes.
"Look at you, what kind of clothes are you wearing? They look like cheap knock-offs. No wonder you can't find a good man."
"What's the use of a girl being beautiful if she doesn't know how to dress up or how to attract a rich husband?"
Lin Meilan proudly swung the fake designer bracelet on her wrist, and then started poking at Lin Mianmian's sore spot again.
"I heard that your grandma is still in the hospital. Do you have enough money for medical expenses? Do you want your sister to help you out?" My cousin deliberately mocked me, her words full of insincerity.
She suddenly leaned closer to Lin Mianmian, lowered her voice, and said viciously, "I advise you to be more realistic, stop being so picky, and find a rich old man to marry while you're still young."
"Otherwise, you won't be worth much after you turn 25."
Lin Mianmian was speechless: "Cousin, are you a commodity? You're so good at putting a price tag on yourself."
Cousin: "Lin Mianmian, what do you mean?"
"You don't mean you're looking for a rich kid in Beijing's elite circles, do you? That's ridiculous. Don't you even know your own worth and whether you're good enough for him?"
Lin Mianmian didn't want to waste time talking to her. She opened her phone and looked at the PowerPoint presentation the teacher had used in class, reviewing the key points. Final exams were approaching, and she couldn't afford to fail.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Lin Meilan assumed she had backed down and laughed even more smugly: "What? Did I hit the nail on the head? Speechless? Let me tell you, people need to know their own limitations."
Before she could finish speaking, a cold, roguish voice interrupted: "I'd like to ask you, where do you get the nerve to talk about my girlfriend here?"
Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw Xie Lin stride in.
He came in through the door, his forearm muscles were well-defined, and his white T-shirt clung to his body in the wind, outlining his perfect proportions of broad shoulders and narrow waist.
That outrageously handsome face was cold; the smile in his peach blossom eyes was gone, replaced by a chilling aura. His powerful presence made people afraid to utter a sound.
He walked straight to Lin Mianmian's side, put his hand behind her to protect her, and glanced at Lin Meilan and President Wang as if they were trash.
Mr. Wang felt uncomfortable under Xie Lin's gaze, but seeing that Xie Lin was young and simply dressed, he immediately felt more confident.
He retorted, his neck stiff, "Who the hell do you think you are? You're just a kid who hasn't even grown his hair yet, and you dare to meddle in my business? Believe me, I can make sure you can't stay in this city anymore with just one word!"
Lin Meilan chimed in, taking advantage of the situation: "That's right! Kid, I advise you to mind your own business. The Wang family isn't to be trifled with! My boyfriend's building materials company—who in this area doesn't know it?"
Xie Lin chuckled as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world, his voice chilling enough to freeze a person to death.
He slowly took out his phone, made a call, and spoke in a lazy tone.
But with an undeniable forcefulness: "Uncle Zhang, stop the project on that building materials plot in the west of the city immediately. The partner is that company surnamed Wang, right?"
"Furthermore, tighten all loans to their company. I want to see what they have to offer to act all high and mighty with."
After hanging up the phone, Xie Lin looked up at President Wang, his peach blossom eyes full of mockery: "I forgot to tell you, that piece of land in the west of the city belongs to my Xie family."
"The fact that your lousy company can get projects is just because my housekeeper casually tossed out small business deals to give people like you a chance to make a living."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Wang's face turned deathly pale, as if all his strength had been drained away, and his beer belly deflated.
His lips trembled, and suddenly, remembering something, he asked, his face turning deathly pale, "The Xie... Xie family? You're from the Xie family in Beijing's elite circle?"
Xie Lin ignored him, looked at Lin Meilan, clicked his tongue, and said contemptuously, "Eat something good, auntie."
Lin Meilan: "You!"
Her boyfriend quickly covered Lin Meilan's mouth to stop her from speaking and dragged her away.
Before Lin Meilan could react, he pulled her a few steps, and the smugness on her face vanished, replaced by shock and anger.
She looked at Xie Lin's handsome face, then at the greasy middle-aged man beside her who looked like a coward.
I'm so angry! How come she can't find a guy this handsome!
They even knocked over a display shelf by the door when they left, looking as disheveled as two stray dogs.
Xie Lin then turned around, looked at Lin Mianmian, and the coldness in his eyes instantly dissipated. He reached out and ruffled her hair.
Her tone was incredibly soft: "Baby, are you alright?"
"It's nothing." Lin Mianmian shook her head, as if she wasn't the victim.
Xie Lin looked at the important information on her phone screen, smiled, and affectionately pinched her nose: "You silly, heartless little idiot."
Everyone around was stunned. No one expected that this ordinary girl would have such an amazing boyfriend.
