Chapter 27 Love is worth it
The next day, Jiang Le was awakened by a not-so-pleasant ringtone. He got up with sleepy eyes, but the person next to him was nowhere to be seen.
Her heart skipped a beat and she stared blankly at the empty half of the bed next to her.
But after a while, Jiang Congyue poked her head out of the bathroom while brushing her teeth and asked vaguely, "What are you standing there for? Aren't you still asleep?"
Jiang Le looked at her face and for no reason thought of what happened yesterday. He turned his back suddenly and struggled to hold the quilt with his hands.
After preparing himself mentally for a long time, he threw back the quilt, got out of bed angrily, glared at Jiang Congyue and started washing up.
"Oh, you are so angry?" Jiang Congyue wiped his face, raised his eyebrows, and happily leaned over to touch her face.
Jiang Le didn't intend to pay attention to her. He buried his head and didn't even look at her.
Jiang Congyue laughed twice and went downstairs whistling.
Downstairs, Li Yan had also gotten up. He was holding a tablet and seemed to be playing a game, muttering something to himself.
Listening closer, Li Yan roared angrily, "Fuck you, Chen Ting, are you capable of this? If not, get out of here and let me do it!"
Chen Ting on the other end was silent for a while, then she heard the sound of gold coins rustling from Li Yan's phone. She immediately picked up the phone and took a look.
Li Yan's eyes lit up, and his voice softened. "Wow, baby, I realize I really love you. This game is indeed quite difficult, so just take your time."
"..." Jiang Congyue didn't know what to say when he saw how quickly her expression changed.
He sighed, sat down next to her, and asked, "Yanyan."
Li Yan's fingers flew quickly, and he raised his face in the midst of his busy schedule, but his eyes did not leave the screen for a second, "What's wrong?"
"I want to ask you something?" Jiang Congyue said as he approached her.
When Jiang Le came down, he saw two people whispering to each other, not knowing what they were talking about. Jiang Congyue frowned and said nothing, while Li Yan was describing something in a startled and lively manner.
It just so happened that Jiang Le originally wanted to avoid Jiang Congyue, so he quickly slipped out the door while they were chatting.
As soon as I entered the company, I was stopped by the front desk, "Director Jiang just received a letter addressed to you."
Jiang Le frowned as she took the letter. It was a rarity to write letters these days. But she didn't rush to open it, because an uninvited guest was squatting in the hall, staring at her.
"Mr. Lin, why have you condescended to come here so early in the morning?" Jiang Le looked listless and obviously didn't want to see him very much.
It's strange. This person, whom she rarely sees, has appeared in front of her more often recently, and she doesn't know why she subconsciously hates this person.
"Are you going to let me chat here?" Lin Zhen raised his eyebrows.
The hall was crowded and staring at everyone, so it wasn't a good place for conversation. Jiang Le folded the letter, turned sideways, and said calmly, "Then please come in."
Lin Zhen followed Jiang Le to her office and sat on the sofa with his legs crossed without any hesitation. "I'm here for one thing."
"Yeah." Jiang Le nodded slightly to signal him to start his speech.
"Let me take care of the project on that piece of land in West City."
Seeing him act so arrogant and speak in such a matter-of-fact tone, Jiang Le almost laughed out loud. She leaned back in her chair and said, "That project was handed over to your sister a few days ago. You're just thinking of grabbing it now. It's too late."
Lin Zhen's eyes widened, and he slammed the table and leaned forward. "What! You gave it to her? No, why? We are definitely closer than hers. I still have shares in Zhuoran! You! You!"
Jiang Le propped up his head, as if deep in thought. After a while, he finally spoke: "From a personal point of view, what you said does make sense. Unfortunately, for the sake of business integrity, I can't give it to you."
Lin Zhen across from him clenched his fists, trying to endure something, his face flushing crimson. Finally, he clasped his hands together and rushed over, "Please, you're my real sister, okay? I beg you, give me this project. After it's done, I'll invest another 10 million in Zhuoran."
If my dad hadn't insisted that this project was related to the future inheritance of the company, I wouldn't have bothered with it! I'd even have to beg her for face!
Jiang Le, who looked at him with a high gaze, listened to his inner thoughts with great interest, but after a while he cursed him out hundreds of times, still looking as stupid as ever.
I don’t know who possessed the body of Lin Zhen, who was discussing poetry collection with her back then.
Tired of listening, she waved her hand and said, "Giving the project to your sister is a decision made after a comprehensive evaluation. Her team is more mature and the plan is more complete." She paused, and seeing Lin Zhen's unconvinced look, she added, "But..."
Lin Zhen immediately pricked up his ears.
"There's an old town renovation project in the east of the city, and we're looking for partners. It's not as large as the one in the west, but the profit margins are good." Jiang Le put down his coffee cup. "If you're interested, I'd like you to try it."
Lin Zhen looked at her suspiciously. He had obviously learned his lesson after many setbacks at her hands. "Are you that kind-hearted?"
Jiang Le smiled. "Of course there are conditions. First, you will be responsible for the project independently, but the key team members need my approval. Second..." She looked at Lin Zhen, "Transfer the small amount of shares you have hidden in Zhuoran to me at the original price."
Lin Zhen's pupils trembled. [How did she know that I held shares in someone else's name?!]
He stared at Jiang Le for a long while, gritted his teeth, and said, "...I need to think about it."
"Go ahead." Jiang Le raised his hand and checked the time. "But it's best to give me an answer before the end of get off work today. After all, you're not the only one interested."
Lin Zhen left cursing, and the office finally became quiet.
In order to win over this wealthy second-generation man, they had put in a lot of effort. Now that she and Guli were no longer short of money, it was time to kick out the troublemaker. After all, she hated it most when someone threatened her with something.
As for the selection of Lin's successor...
She enjoys causing a little trouble.
Then a phone call came in. Jiang Le looked at the number and answered it helplessly, "Hello? What's going on?"
"Le Le, remember to buy some vegetables when you come back tonight. We're out of stock at home." The sound of Jiang Congyue rummaging through boxes and cabinets could be heard from the other end.
In the evening, Jiang Le, full of joy, personally went to the supermarket dedicated to the villa area and carefully selected ingredients.
Perhaps because she had nothing else to do, Jiang Congyue had recently become madly obsessed with cooking. There was nothing left in the refrigerator for her to cook. She had also dismissed several of the servants, so she had to go to the supermarket to do the shopping herself, but she actually enjoyed the process.
I returned home carrying two large bags of food. The first thing I saw when I entered the door was not Jiang Congyue lazily lying on the sofa watching TV, but a dark place.
Jiang Le's heart tightened and the thing in her hand fell to the ground. She shouldn't have let her guard down just because Li Yan was there.
The boundless darkness swallowed her silently. She pinched her palms tightly, anger and sadness mixed in her heart, and in the end, only grievance was left.
But before she could lose heart, her vision suddenly brightened. Jiang Congyue nudged her with her elbow, "Hey, you naughty kid, why are you blocking the door without turning on the light when you come back?"
Jiang Le turned around suddenly and almost bumped into Jiang Congyue's arms, holding her silently, without saying a word.
Jiang Congyue put the things in her hands aside with great effort, and hugged the slightly insecure man back with a mixture of anger and amusement, "Look, are you about to cry? Be good, be good, I saw that you haven't come back yet, and there is really no food at home. I was worried that you would be hungry when you come back, so I went downstairs to buy some."
While carrying the things, she led the clingy and silent person to the living room and said with a smile: "Oh, don't cry, I feel so bad. It's all my fault. Why didn't I tell the baby in advance? It's my fault, I deserve a beating."
Jiang Le saw her pretending to hit her with his hand, and quickly retracted his hand, turned around and sat on the sofa.
"Hey, I prepared a lot of things, but I can't use them today." Jiang Congyue sighed and cleared the things on the table, "But this can still be used."
Jiang Le raised her head and looked over Jiang Congyue's shoulder at the candles and flowers on the dining table. After retracting her gaze, she fixed her eyes on Jiang Congyue as he smiled and handed her a thick stack of red paper, which seemed to be pressed together with some technique.
When Jiang Congyue reached out to take it in a daze, the red paper bounced away instantly, and blood-red rose petals scattered all over the ground. The red paper extended from Jiang Congyue's hand to Jiang Le's feet.
She looked at the lines of huge golden characters on the red paper. The strokes were stretched out, neat and elegant, graceful yet vigorous, as if Jiang Congyue had transformed into each character and appeared before her.
When she calmed down and looked at the words carefully, she looked up in surprise and met those eyes that were always as gentle as water.
Those are beautiful words that shouldn't appear on me.
"According to what Li Yan said, we should have folded a few banknotes behind each one, but conditions are limited, so I have to let you down. But aren't the roses behind it romantic too? Hey, if we take them out during a candlelight dinner, it would actually be even more..."
Jiang Congyue's endless explanations came to an abrupt end, replaced by the sound of sweet kisses. She lowered her head and carefully held the hand that was hugging her neck.
At this moment, Jiang Le's heart was so blocked that she couldn't breathe. She didn't know how to relieve the pressure or how to save herself. She hugged the only piece of driftwood beside her like a drowning person, painfully and joyfully.
Why is it that when we touch love, the first thing we feel is pain?
In fact, she just didn't understand that this should be called touching. It's just that the tears of touching and the tears of pain were equally painful, which made her confused.
"Jiang Congyue." Jiang Le called her name word by word with red eyes.
"Yeah." Jiang Congyue responded softly and kissed away the tears on her cheek.
"I really hate you..." Jiang Le leaned against her and whispered in her ear, "I love you."
Jiang Congyue suddenly shed a tear, then chuckled softly and said in a somewhat complaining voice, "I love you too, it's really not easy to ask you to say that..."
She couldn't tell Jiang Le how many twists and turns and painful roads she had walked and how much bitterness and grievances she had suffered for this sentence.
But with this sentence, I love you, everything is worth it.
