Chapter 25 Uncle Dong

As night fell, a courtyard not far from the county government office looked quite ordinary from the outside, but only those who had been inside knew the special nature of this small courtyard.

That is, the scene inside the house is completely different from what it looks like from the outside.

The furniture is all made of rosewood, and the items displayed on the antique shelves are either gold or jade. The landscape paintings hanging on the walls are priceless masterpieces.

"Dong Yuefan, are you really planning to act as their travel guide?" Looking at the person dressed in night clothes, Mu Zitao still couldn't believe it.

Looking down at his brand-new outfit, Dong Yuefan was quite satisfied and replied nonchalantly, "Yeah, if you're a brother, don't try to persuade me anymore. I know what I'm doing. Just wait, I'll be back soon."

"Can't you be a little more rational? You don't even know anything about them, yet you dare to give them fake travel permits. Have you lost your mind? You've been here for three years now, shouldn't you be more composed by now?"

"Why are you still acting so irrationally? Do you know what the consequences will be if you are exposed?" Mu Zitao was getting anxious when he saw that his good brother was not being persuaded.

Upon hearing this, Dong Yuefan looked at her good brother and asked, "Do you think she's a bad person, a spy from another country? Or do you think those seven bald guys are the ones who commit murder and arson?" With that, she walked over to her good brother and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "Alright, I know you're doing this for my own good and are worried about me."

She didn't tell me her identity, not because she didn't trust me. If she didn't trust me, she wouldn't have told me she didn't have a travel permit in the evening.

Besides, you're actually quite special to her, aren't you? Otherwise, you wouldn't have gone to that steamed bun shop this afternoon.

Besides, you can't blame others for embarrassing yourself this afternoon; it was your own fault…” Before she could finish speaking, she was interrupted.

"Shut up, you brat."

Watching his good friend walk out with a flushed face and a huff, Dong Yuefan made a face at his back: "Hmph, this is enough for me to have you wrapped around my little finger for the rest of my life."

After muttering to himself, he pulled the black cloth around his neck over his face, leaving only his eyes exposed, and jumped out of the back window.

At the Fortune Inn, Hong Xiaoduo, having locked the door, looked at the little bald boys lying neatly on the communal bed. While tucking them in, she couldn't help but touch one of their little bald heads.

"Mother, do I need to get up very early tomorrow morning?" Tianquan asked in a low voice.

This was the first time in his life he had slept in a room without any drafts, the first time he had slept on a bunk, the first time he had a soft mattress under him and a clean blanket covering him. It was so comfortable that he was afraid he would oversleep.

When he asked that question, the other six also looked over at Hong Xiaoduo.

“We don’t need to get up early for work or travel, so let’s sleep peacefully. We can get up whenever we want,” Hong Xiaoduo immediately responded.

These past few days, not to mention the children, even she hasn't had a good night's sleep. Although she encountered some minor troubles and unpleasantness in this town, she didn't suffer any real loss.

On the contrary, she encountered kind people, such as the owners of the clothing shop and their spouse, the innkeeper's family, Officer Jin who did not listen to anyone who tried to harm her, and Brother Dong.

After a relaxing bath, I changed into new clothes, had a delicious meal, and even went to a teahouse to listen to storytelling, drink tea, and eat snacks.

All things considered, I had pretty good luck today.

The fact that there's hope of getting the travel permit is a huge relief, solving one of the biggest problems.

Hong Xiaoduo took off her boots and lay down on her bunk. Yao Guang, who was sleeping right next to her, had already fallen asleep in a short while.

I was thinking of going to bed early and getting a good night's sleep, but I just couldn't fall asleep.

She was a little envious of the seven little bald boys. When she asked Brother Dong about the government taking in beggars and vagrants at the teahouse in the evening, they were so frightened by what Brother Dong said that their little faces turned pale.

Later, when they heard Brother Dong say that he would help them solve the problem of their travel permits, and that she would continue to talk to them, they all came to their senses. Look how soundly they are sleeping now.

But she was wondering when the old man at the science museum would be able to contact her again.

If you get in touch, how long will the conversation last? Don't let it end after just a few words like last time.

There are so many questions I want to ask. For example, what was the purpose of sending me here? Also, just because she has amnesia doesn't mean she can be heartless. At least she should find out about her family's situation, right?

She suddenly disappeared. Her family must be worried and anxious. They've probably already called the police.

Which of these two things she's so eager to know should she ask first?

Lost in her thoughts until midnight, her eyelids finally grew heavy and she felt sleepy. However, she couldn't get a good night's sleep. First, Tianji woke up from a nightmare, and Hong Xiaoan went over to comfort him for a while before the children finally fell asleep again.

Just before dawn, Yuheng woke up crying and shouting, "Don't sell me!" Hong Xiaoduo hugged him and comforted him for a long time.

Hong Xiaoduo, who hadn't slept well all night, harbored no resentment towards the children. Instead, she cursed the cruel person who had abused them dozens of times in her heart.

As dawn broke, the children all got up. The older children helped the younger ones get dressed and washed, all very carefully, walking on tiptoe so as not to wake Hong Xiaoduo.

Actually, she wasn't sleeping; she was just resting with her eyes closed because she was tired.

I'm not getting up early to travel because I need to wait for news from Brother Dong today.

However, we can't get up too late, the children still need to eat breakfast.

When Hong Xiaoduo got up, she noticed that the bedding on the seven children's beds was neatly folded.
