Chapter 25 Uncle Dong



When they saw her get up, the children rushed over to greet her and offer their respects. They then helped her fetch water to wash up and handed her a cotton towel to wipe her face.

Being waited on by a group of young children made Hong Xiaoduo very uncomfortable, and she didn't want to get used to it. She tried to reason with them and finally managed to convince them.

Just as she breathed a sigh of relief, she turned around and saw that Tianxuan had already taken out the water she had used for washing and poured it out.

Well, all that talk was for nothing!

She had just tied her hair into a ponytail and was about to take the children to have breakfast when the shopkeeper came over and said that Master Dong was waiting at the door.

You're here so early? Have you got your travel permit ready?

Hong Xiaoduo rushed to the door and saw Dong Yuefan standing there with his hands behind his back and a smile on his face.

"Good morning, Brother Dong." Hong Xiaoduo greeted him first, then looked at the children behind her.

"Good morning, Uncle Dong." The children bowed and greeted him in unison.

Huh? Uncle?

Dong Yuefan was completely dumbfounded. Was it because he, as a clerk, was incompetent and lacked experience? Was the term "uncle" only used by nephews and nieces?

"Ahem, Brother Dong, you don't know this, but they call me 'Mother,' so when they hear me call you 'Brother Dong,' they just assume it's something else," Hong Xiaoduo explained helplessly.

Dong Yuefan was even more confused. Why was he calling her "mother"?

"Are you going to have breakfast now?" he asked.

Hong Xiaoduo nodded: "Brother Dong, have you eaten yet? Why don't we eat together? It's on me."

Dong Yuefan quickly said, "I haven't eaten yet. I came here to invite you to eat together. Let's go, this isn't the place to talk." She then winked at her.

Upon hearing this, Hong Xiaoduo immediately understood that the matter of the travel permit was most likely settled.

The best and most famous restaurant in town is Juxianlou.

Instead of sitting in the lobby downstairs, they went up to a private room on the second floor. Dong Yuefan gestured for them to go in first, then went to the door of the next private room, pushed it open, and leaned halfway in to ask in a low voice, "Um, are you really not coming over? It's too crowded and lively here..."
