Bai Wei smiled and shook his head. He was in a good mood after meeting Zoe. Zoe also sensed his mood and her frown relaxed immediately.
The two walked in this state for a while, and encountered many dead people during this period. They were all full of kindness as the soul guide said. They enthusiastically asked Bai Wei, a new face, whether he needed help. They were also surprised that Zoe finally left the big tree, but they did not ask the reason, just gave their blessings.
Bai Wei could see that these kindnesses were not fake, and everyone was sincere.
From the heart.
Is this the "paradise" where only good people can come?
Bai Wei thought so.
After walking for a while, Zoe finally brought Bai Wei to a human settlement—a small town.
In the underworld, there are very few small towns like this. Most of the dead live as they please. Just as the soul guide said before, they just sleep in a place with dense blooming spirit flowers. Unless there are some major events, the dead rarely gather together.
And did Zoe bring him here because the Lord of the Underworld is in this town?
Bai Wei stopped outside the town for a while, but did not sense the breath of God.
Well...it is indeed unrealistic to expect a little girl with an empty head to lead me to find God.
But Bai Wei didn't say anything. Zoe was still leading the way, so he continued to follow her into the town. After another round of twists and turns, they arrived in front of an ancient building.
The Church of the Lord of the Underworld.
To be honest, this was the first time Bai Wei had seen such a simple church. It was only slightly better than the destroyed Senluo Temples he had seen during the wildfire, but not much. From the outside, it looked like an old, dilapidated house that had been in disrepair for a long time, without a trace of holiness.
"You really have personality, Lord of the Underworld." Bai Wei looked at Zoe with a smile, "I asked you to take me to find the Lord of the Underworld, not to bring me to His church."
Zoe tilted her head, unsure of how to respond.
"Forget it, since we're here, let's go in and pay our respects." Bai Wei pushed the door open and walked in.
The church was empty, with only the statue of the Lord of the Underworld standing there alone, covered with dust because it had not been cleaned for a long time.
Bai Wei walked straight forward and arrived under the statue, while Zoe followed behind him like a little tail.
The statue of the Lord of the Underworld is different from the statues of other gods. It does not have much of a sacred aura that says "keep away from strangers". Instead, it seems somewhat... gentle?
"Lord of the Underworld." Bai Wei looked up at the statue and murmured, "This kind of treatment really doesn't seem like a living god."
As soon as he finished speaking, a clear female voice sounded from behind him: "There are no living people in the underworld."
Bai Wei turned around and saw a black-haired woman in a wheelchair appearing at the entrance of the church.
"Hello." The woman said with a smile, "I am the administrator of this church."
"Administrator?" Bai Wei raised his eyebrows. "It doesn't look like there's anyone managing this place."
"I can't help it. Usually, not many people come here." The woman pushed the wheelchair and slowly came to Bai Wei. "Usually, even the door is locked. It is only opened when there is a need to hold some activities."
“But it opened today.”
"Because a guest is coming." said the woman with a smile.
