Chapter 4 You're Not Going to Die

Chapter 4 You're Not Going to Die

The night was as dark as ink, the car window was half open, and neon lights flickered in the distance.

A cool evening breeze wafted into the car, and Fu Hanchuan pressed his thin lips together, trying his best to suppress his inner turmoil and unease.

Ever since I saw Wen Yanyu at the hospital, I've been dreaming about her every night for the past week.

It's either the other person crying and saying they want to go home, or various depictions of their death. Even though I know it's just a dream, the person in the dream keeps begging for death, their face filled with collapse and despair...

Every time I wake up from a dream, I'm drenched in a cold sweat. My first instinct is to call the other person to confirm that they are still alive. Once, I even vaguely remember getting into a car to meet them.

He tried to convince himself that he might just have been frightened by the way the other person looked in the hospital, which was why he had those dreams and reacted so strongly, but he also knew clearly that he wasn't that kind of person.

Fu Hanchuan closed his eyes in frustration.

I must be crazy. There's no way he could like Wen Yanyu.

When did Wen Yanyu start having such a big influence on me?

Thinking back to their first meeting, Fu Hanchuan's expression was complicated.

He always remembered Wen Yanyu dragging him out of the car and constantly whispering those nonsensical stories in his ear to keep him awake.

If Wen Yanyu hadn't done those things that caused him trouble, they might have remained good friends.

But now, that's impossible.

A cool night breeze wafted into the car, and Fu Hanchuan looked out at the river view, his mood gradually calming down.

My gaze suddenly swept over a figure on the riverbank.

Fu Hanchuan suddenly stopped, his heart skipping a beat for no apparent reason.

"parking!"

The driver slammed on the brakes and came to a smooth stop on the side of the road before he could even ask what had happened.

Fu Hanchuan had already opened the door and jumped out of the car.

Wen Yanyu leaned leisurely against the railing, her hair slipping down her hood like two white rabbits being blown by the wind.

Carrying the medicine he had finally managed to get from the hospital, he closed his eyes contentedly.

So comfortable.

It's been so long since I've felt this free.

I can't remember.

Just as I was comfortably enjoying the evening breeze, a sudden force came from my waist, and I was abruptly pulled into someone's arms, and we both fell to the ground.

"Wen Yanyu! What are you doing!"

A furious shout came from beside me, the arm around my waist was still trembling, and the familiar bitter sandalwood scent wafted into my nose.

Wen Yanyu turned around blankly, "Fu Hanchuan?"

Seeing the other person's blank stare, Fu Hanchuan's anger intensified. "If it wasn't me, then who was it!"

"You lunatic! What are you doing here in the middle of the night! Trying to cause trouble again, aren't you! Wen Yanyu! Haven't you learned your lesson from last time! Do you want to die?!"

Fu Hanchuan grew angrier as he spoke, almost gritting his teeth. His gaze swept over the boy's white hair peeking out from under his hood, and he suddenly froze.

Wen Yanyu was a little confused by this sudden situation and subconsciously tried to break free from the other person.

Fu Hanchuan didn't let go at all, tightened his arms, and simply picked the person up by the waist.

His body was suspended in mid-air, and his feet suddenly left the ground.

What are you doing?

Wen Yanyu exclaimed in surprise and hurriedly reached out to hug the man's neck, afraid that she would be thrown off.

Fu Hanchuan, his face contorted with rage, gripped the boy's waist tightly, his knuckles white, and hoisted him firmly onto his shoulder.

With no foothold and unable to get down, Wen Yanyu trembled uncontrollably.

Was he going to retaliate against himself?

Having figured this out, I simply gave up struggling.

The weight on his shoulders was ridiculously light compared to before. Fu Hanchuan's eyes darkened, he pursed his lips and remained silent, then shoved the man into the car.

"drive."

The driver glanced at the rearview mirror and silently shut his mouth.

Adhere to work principles, speak less, do more, listen to others, and you'll make a lot of money.

Wen Yanyu rubbed his lower back and tentatively asked, "Where are you taking me?"

Fu Hanchuan didn't look at him.

Wen Yanyu didn't want to make a fool of herself, so she tied the medicine bag in a knot and quietly put it in her pocket.

We finally managed to get it, we can't lose it.

The car was getting further and further away from the city.

Wen Yanyu pursed her lips, "Fu Hanchuan...where are we going? I have things to do tomorrow."

Fu Hanchuan finally turned his head, staring at the boy with a sinister look, and questioned, "What were you trying to do by the river just now?"

Wen Yanyu was momentarily confused, then subconsciously replied, "I'm just enjoying the breeze."

Can you fish empty-handed?

The air condensed.

Fu Hanchuan gritted his teeth: "Wen Yanyu, do you think I'm a fool?"

Wen Yanyu: "?"

The car wound its way into the villa area, turning east and west before finally coming to a stop.

Wen Yanyu looked up at the familiar place outside the window.

Why did I bring him here again?

Fu Hanchuan opened the car door, skillfully hoisted the still-out-of-consciousness person onto his shoulder, and strode towards the villa.

Wen Yanyu: "...Actually, I can walk by myself."

Fu Hanchuan: "Shut up."

The door slammed shut, and the busy housekeeper, seeing the two in this strange posture, was momentarily stunned.

The contents of countless novels he had read flashed through his mind, and then he said very professionally, "Mr. Fu, would you like me to make another dinner?"

Fu Hanchuan put the person off his shoulder, nodded and instructed: "Cook some porridge, and make a few light dishes that are easy to digest."

The housekeeper nodded and went into the kitchen.

The hood had fallen off on the way here, and Wen Yanyu's white hair mixed with a few black hairs looked strange and peculiar.

Fu Hanchuan's face turned ugly. "I'm telling you, don't even think about dying."

He paused, then added, "I won't be with you, and I won't love you, but I will never let you die."

"Wen Yanyu, don't even think about making me owe you another life."

The emotions that had been suppressed for days manifested in a cold tone, making it difficult to discern whether it was more anger or fear.

Completely bewildered by the other party's series of actions.

After spending two years together, she realized that the male protagonist was actually a kind-hearted person. She replayed the events that had just happened in her mind and finally understood that the other party didn't seem to be seeking revenge.

Wen Yanyu lifted her long eyelashes, her brows furrowing slightly. "I was just enjoying the breeze there. You've really misunderstood."

Fu Hanchuan remained silent, but his eyes revealed a clear distrust, as if to say, "Have you forgotten what you did?"

Wen Yanyu waved the bag of medicine in her hand at the man and explained, "These are the medicines I just got from the hospital today. Also, Sister Lan asked me to go to the company tomorrow to sign a variety show contract. If I wanted to die, would I need to do all this?"

Fu Hanchuan paused for a moment, sized him up for a while, and then awkwardly turned his head away.

"Eat your food first."

"Oh," Wen Yanyu replied, bowing her head.

At the dining table.

Wen Yanyu glanced around the room at the familiar furnishings she had arranged, and thought to herself that the male lead hadn't moved out yet, and hadn't thrown anything away.

She lowered her eyes and quietly scooped up some rice porridge, putting it into her mouth spoonful by spoonful. After only a few spoonfuls, her stomach began to churn.

Under the gaze of Fu Hanchuan directly opposite him.

Wen Yanyu's expression remained unchanged as she continued to put food in her mouth, pretending that she had eaten a lot.

"What happened to your hair? It suddenly turned so white?" Fu Hanchuan asked, breaking the silence at the table.

Wen Yanyu paused, her expression unchanged, and said, "My hair was a little gray in the front, and I thought this color looked good, so I bleached it."

Fu Hanchuan frowned as he looked at the boy's black and white "mixed" hair, and his wrists and neck, which seemed so pale that even the veins were clearly visible.

After a long pause, he managed to squeeze out a sentence through gritted teeth: "It's bad luck, I should dye it back as soon as possible."

Wen Yanyu casually replied, "Mm."

After barely finishing the meal, Wen Yanyu felt nauseous and put down her spoon. Before Fu Hanchuan could speak, she spoke first.

“Mr. Fu, you have taken good care of me. It was wrong of me to have feelings for you that I have caused you trouble.”

Wen Yanyu paused for a moment, realizing that his experience was too bizarre and too deeply ingrained for him to talk about. He knew the other person wouldn't believe him anyway, and since the other person already disliked him so much, he wasn't planning to stay by their side any longer. So he decided to mix the truth with the lies.

"Maybe I've died once and I've come to terms with everything. I won't have those inappropriate thoughts anymore. I may not be able to repay you for your help right now, but I owe you one, and I will definitely find a way to repay you in the future."

"Don't worry, I won't cause you any more trouble. If you want me to disappear from your sight, I will do it immediately. If you need me for anything, just call me anytime. If you don't need me anymore, I will never appear in front of you."

After saying that, Wen Yanyu asked listlessly, "So when can I go home?"

"I want to go home."

Hearing the same words as in his dream, Fu Hanchuan froze, not knowing which sentence had stung him, but his heart felt inexplicably heavy.

Fu Hanchuan's eyes dimmed slightly, and his knuckles clenched so tightly they turned white.

for a long time.

"Thank you for the hospitality." Wen Yanyu got up, preparing to slip away.

"It's too late now. You can stay in the guest room for the night, and I'll have the driver take you home tomorrow," Fu Hanchuan said in a hoarse voice.
