Chapter 68 A Letter No One Knows
Fu Yanli opened the envelope and saw a blank sheet of paper.
Now his mind is filled with questions. What's going on?
Isn't it a photo?
What happened? The evidence of my childhood crush has been destroyed just like that?! [Shocked][Shocked][Shocked]
Fu Yanli: He didn't have a crush on her. Besides, he doesn't quite remember ever seeing Xu Wenci when he was a child.
However, he vaguely remembered burning a book.
It might be Xu Wenci's code of conduct.
But my memory is too hazy.
How could something like unrequited love exist in his world when he was a child?
He clearly fell in love with Xu Wenci at first sight.
He opened the paper.
It really is a blank sheet of paper.
Ye Chuying slapped her forehead.
She put the paper in the envelope.
what to do?
what to do?
I hope her brother won't see this!
However, on the surface, it appears to be a blank sheet of paper.
Fu Yanli squinted, staring intently at the blank sheet of paper.
It doesn't look particularly special.
Thinking of this, Ye Chuying breathed a sigh of relief.
However, she pursed her lips, as long as her brother didn't use a pencil to turn the paper gray.
Whew~
Fu Yanli stood up, moved his numb hands, and finally propped himself up on the table with one elbow, using the other hand to hold a pencil and blacken the entire sheet of white paper.
My sister is quite good at hiding things!
Fortunately, Yi Lou had taught him how to handle such situations when he was a child.
But why is it just a bunch of words?
Fu Yanli squinted, carefully examining the words.
It's about Yi Lou being the main villain and that he will be killed.
What is that?
Why would his sister hand these things over to him? Shouldn't these matters be handled by Yi Lou?
"Chuying, what brings you here?" A gentle voice interrupted Ye Chuying's wild guesses. She looked up and saw Yi Lou smiling at her, pushing up his glasses.
“Building blocks…” Ye Chuying tilted her head and explained, “I’ve come to deliver building blocks.”
Yi Lou looked in the direction Ye Chuying was holding and saw her standing quietly at the gate, holding a tightly wrapped box.
"Chu Ying, come in and have a seat." Yi Lou smiled and lowered his eyelashes.
Ye Chuying naturally noticed the hint of sadness that Yi Lou concealed when he lowered his eyes.
Yi Lou's younger brother, Yi Pei, is a painful memory that Yi Lou never wants to mention.
In order to treat Yi Pei, Yi Lou once forcibly locked Yi Pei in a room.
The sickly young master tilted his beautiful yet fragile neck, gazing at everything downstairs.
Longing for everything inside and outside the courtyard.
However, he could never leave.
Later, for reasons unknown, Yi Pei returned to the country and announced that he would have no further contact with Yi Lou.
No one knows why they broke off relations.
No one knows why they, as brothers, would fall out like that.
Perhaps Ye Chuying's gaze was too intense, Yi Lou turned his head and asked gently, "Don't you like the snacks that Sister Wang prepared?"
Ye Chuying shook her head, her gaze still fixed on Yi Lou, and said, "Brother Yi Lou, actually I came here today to bring you something else."
“A week before Brother Yi Pei went abroad, he asked me to give you a letter when you turn thirty, but I brought the wrong thing today.” Ye Chuying scratched her head sheepishly. “The letter is with my brother now. I’ve already messaged him, and he should bring it over in a bit.”
"He sent me a letter?" Yi Lou's pupils dilated suddenly, trembling uncontrollably. His heart was filled with immense joy, and he could barely hear Ye Chuying's subsequent explanation.
Did Yi Pei write him a letter?
Does this mean that Yi Pei doesn't hate him that much?
The contents of that letter... were specifically for him...
Yi Lou could only hear the sound of his heart pounding against his chest.
"I'll go get it." Yi Lou paused for a few seconds, then subconsciously stood up, but for a moment he was stunned, not knowing which direction to take.
Ye Chuying looked completely bewildered.
"Brother Yi Lou, let me go with you. I need to talk to my brother about something."
He patted his pockets and got up.
Yi Lou nodded stiffly.
"Yi Lou, your letter." Fu Yanli rushed to the Yi family immediately after receiving Ye Chuying's message, and called out as soon as he entered the gate.
Yi Lou rushed over quickly, frowned, and snatched the envelope.
I eagerly opened the envelope, but accidentally tore it open, leaving a large tear in the letter inside.
A fleeting, indescribable emotion flashed across his eyes. He glanced at his trembling hands and froze.
Having witnessed everything, Fu Yanli winked at Ye Chuying: You did it?
Ye Chuying glared angrily: You did this! How could you be so quick? I've never seen you so proactive with documents before!
The letter has already been read.
This realization challenged Yi Lou's reason, and he almost lost his balance, his gaze urgently sweeping over the few short lines of text.
However, because he read too fast, he didn't understand the meaning of those few lines of text.
He blinked.
I want to see it more clearly.
She blinked again, but tears welled up in her eyes.
Yi Lou didn't even realize when the tears fell onto the letter.
Only when his tears had burned a transparent hole in the letter did Yi Lou forcefully wipe away his tears.
This letter contains only him.
But it seems he's not there either.
The letter stated that Yi Lou would become a villain later, but fate had already been reversed.
Yi Lou will become an ordinary yet happy person.
However, Yi Pei did not mention in the book that Yi Lou was his older brother.
He didn't write that he cared about Yi Lou.
How could Yi Pei not care about him?
How could Yi Pei possibly write him a letter or something like this?
He should have written him words expressing his reluctance to part and his affection.
He should have written something like, "I will always be your younger brother."
He should have written that he would always love his brother, even if it was just familial love.
"Are you out of your mind?" Fu Yanli frowned, snatching the letter away. "Yi Lou, are you sick in the head? Shouldn't your first reaction to something like this be protecting your own life? Your life isn't yours, it belongs to Yi Pei! Did Yi Pei want you to die?"
Yi Lou's expressionless eyes flickered, but he remained silent.
“Brother…” Ye Chuying kept tugging at Fu Yanli’s sleeve and whispered a reminder, “You should say less.”
Ignoring everything else, Fu Yanli continued, "Let me just tell you straight, if you're not going to be the villain, someone else will. The only reason you're not the villain is because Gu Pei was soft-hearted towards your brother. Your brother saved you more than once."
“You understand all this so well, how could you not understand?” Yi Lou looked up, a hint of pleasure flashing in his otherwise lifeless eyes. “Tell Xu Wenci what you did for him, and he will feel the same guilt and gratitude as I do…”
Fu Yanli narrowed his eyes and remained silent.
Ye Chuying opened her mouth in surprise: Why did things develop to this point?
How did the somber atmosphere suddenly turn into one of tension?
“Yi Lou, you should understand,” Fu Yanli suddenly said, “Xu Wenci hates me, but you don’t hate Yi Pei; it’s Yi Pei who hates you.”
The truth was laid bare before Yi Lou seven years ago, but Yi Lou refused to believe it.
Now, this truth, which was no longer the truth, has been revealed to Yi Lou by Fu Yanli, and Yi Lou finally has no choice but to begin to believe it.
Fu Yanli could calmly accept Xu Wenci's hatred towards him.
But Yi Lou could not accept it calmly.
Because he loved Yi Pei so much.
How could Yi Pei hate him?
"Is Yi Lou really the villain of this world?" Xu Wenci asked.
The two have temporarily formed an alliance, at least for now.
Xu Wenci ignored Gu Pei's previous questioning, and Gu Pei acted as if he had never asked it at all, communicating with Xu Wenci about the plot normally.
No one knows what answer was given to that question.
Gu Pei nodded, then smiled wryly, "It's been three days, and you're finally willing to see me. It's been so difficult."
Xu Wenci leaned back in his chair, his tone calm and devoid of any emotion, and repeated the question: "Is Yi Lou really the villain of this world?"
Gu Pei gave another bitter laugh: "When I was writing the plot later, I changed the original setting because of a dream. It's absurd, isn't it!"
Xu Wenci shook his head.
Fortunately, compared to Fu Yanli's bizarre ideas, they are nothing.
“I dreamt that Yi Pei came to me and said not to let Yi Lou be the villain, so I changed the setting.” Gu Pei lowered his head. “Yi Pei is really good, and I softened.”
"Do you regret it now?" Xu Wenci asked.
"I wouldn't call it regret. I've already written it, and things have already turned out this way, what can I do?" Gu Pei raised an eyebrow unconsciously. "I just regret that I should have finished writing the story back then."
"I want to cut off contact with Fu Yanli, why didn't you object? You even told me how?" Xu Wenci asked slowly, choosing his words carefully.
“Everything you want to do is part of the plot, that’s the real plot. And I’m no longer the creator, I’ve become part of the story,” Gu Pei said with a smile, seemingly quite satisfied with the situation. “Haven’t you noticed? My thoughts no longer affect the plot.”
"What if you don't leave here..."
“I will be trapped here forever, completely becoming part of the story.” Gu Pei waved his hand dismissively. “But don’t worry, I still need to go back to pay my respects to my brother. I can leave whenever I want.”
Xu Wenci suddenly didn't understand his own feelings.
He was initially very dissatisfied with Gu Pei, the creator, because he thought that Gu Pei had given him suffering and pain. However, he later learned that Gu Pei was powerless and would also be trapped here.
Suddenly, he felt that nothing mattered anymore.
"By the way, Fu Yanli asked me about your mother's whereabouts, and I told him. How are you getting along with your mother?"
"Why do you keep bringing up Fu Yanli in every few sentences in front of me?" Xu Wenci was speechless.
"After all, I was one of your earliest fans who shipped you two as a couple." Gu Pei smiled sheepishly.
"By the way, if you regret divorcing Fu Yanli..." Gu Pei continued.
Xu Wenci clicked his tongue.
They're not divorced yet.
Gu Pei raised an eyebrow.
It seems that Xu Wenci isn't someone who's entirely willing to break up with Fu Yanli.
Perhaps what he disliked was not Fu Yanli.
Rather, it is a constraint.
It's a script.
But he simply couldn't admit it.
She dared not confess her feelings.
"Brother, why haven't you confessed to Xu Wenci yet? Tell him you've liked him since he was seven years old..." Ye Chuying, who always spoke frankly, kept nagging in her brother's ear all day.
Fu Yanli stared at the envelope.
This time, it should contain photos.
There can't be any mistake.
However, he dared not open it.
He genuinely didn't remember ever having met Xu Wenci at that time.
Therefore, it is impossible to admit that the little boy in the photo who expresses deep affection for Xu Wenci is himself.
