Chapter 3 Rejecting Secondhand Goods (1/2)

Inside the room, a round dining table was laden with food.

The elegant lady sat in the main seat, and to her left was a beautiful young girl dressed in plain white clothes. Even in simple clothes, her beautiful face could not be hidden.

Continuing to the left, a man in a magnificent purple robe sat with two dragon horns on his forehead, presumably the so-called little prince of the Dragon Palace.

Further to the left was a young man who was a bit older than Tian Ning and resembled the lady. To the left of the young man was a man in a light blue robe.

Compared to the fully occupied left side, Madam Wenren's right side was completely empty.

"Ningning is here. Come on, sit here with your mother." Madam Wenren smiled, her eyes crinkling as she patted the seat to her right, her smile not reaching her eyes.

Tianning walked over and sat down, completely ignoring the blatant isolation.

"This is your older sister, Xue'er. You two should get along well from now on..."

Wenren Xue said gently, "My sister has just returned from the mortal realm. If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me."

From the moment he entered the room, everyone's eyes were on Tian Ning.

To their surprise, the little girl, though thin and somewhat malnourished, had a fair and clean face with rosy skin and a pair of beautiful, clear eyes. She was not the wretched, unsightly mortal they had imagined.

Furthermore, due to her bloodline, the little girl bears an uncanny resemblance to the deceased former head of the Wen family; one glance is enough to tell that she is a descendant of the Wen family.

"This is the young prince of the Dragon Palace, your fourth brother Wenren Yang, and the senior Long Han who formed a sworn brotherhood with your fourth brother."

"Mother! I'm not her fourth brother. What is she? I only have one sister, Xue'er!" Wenren Yang's brows furrowed and his eyes were full of disgust from the moment he entered Tianning!

Madam Wenren maintained impeccable manners throughout, and even when her son said those things, the smile on her face did not diminish in the slightest.

"What nonsense is your fourth brother talking about? It's because Mother has spoiled him. He's still young, Ningning, you mustn't take his wild nature to heart."

Tianning just felt bored; these people were so long-winded.

She actually wanted to go back and see: the poor adopted daughter imprisoned in the mansion by her powerful brother, desperately and helplessly praying to heaven that her childhood sweetheart, who was forced to marry the princess, would come to rescue her...

You know, she actually bought shares in her childhood sweetheart!

Glancing at the food on the table that was getting cold, Tianning said, bored out of her mind, "Let's eat, I'm hungry."

"Okay... let's start eating then."

Madam Wenren was clearly surprised by her obedient appearance; she had originally thought she was just like that old man, someone who would cause trouble.

Seeing Tianning staring at the food on the table, Wenren Yang sneered. She was really greedy and gluttonous. Judging from the way she was staring at the food, she probably had never eaten anything so good in her life.

Everyone started eating.

Madam Wenren first placed a piece of steamed pork ribs on Wenren Xue's plate: "Xue'er, try this. It's your favorite. I specially instructed the kitchen to make it this morning."

"Mother, how old am I?" Wenren Xue raised her eyebrows, her smile as gentle as a spring breeze: "Besides, I've already formed my core, so I can abstain from food. Let's leave it for my younger sister."

"That won't do! You just formed your core and are still injured; you need to rest and recuperate properly!"

Long Ye, who was standing to the side, also picked up some food and said domineeringly, "Listen to me, you have to finish it all!"

Wenren Yang then handed a whole plate of squirrel-shaped mandarin fish to Wenren Xue, saying, "Little sister, eat more, or your brother will worry!"

Long Han was already used to such a harmonious scene. He wanted to serve Xue'er some food, but there was already so much food in front of her. Besides... he only needed to watch Xue'er quietly from a distance.

The group chatted amongst themselves, and as if they had finally remembered that there was such a person, they all turned their gazes toward him.

They could almost picture the jealousy and envy on Tianning's face.

But after no one spoke, the clear sound of shoveling rice into one's ears.

This was something no one expected.

She ignored them, didn't even glance at them, and focused on eating...

Look at the pile of shrimp shells next to her; it's clear how seriously she takes cooking, almost as much as the vegetables piled up in front of Wenren Xue.

No one doubted that she had the time to care about what Wenren Xue was up to.

Because she occupied most of the right side of the table by herself, she had almost finished eating all the food on the other half of the table.

Wenren Yang's lips twitched. Was she a pig? How could she eat so much at once?

Before Wenren Yang could even form a sarcastic remark, Tian Ning swallowed the last piece of braised pork, put down his chopsticks, and said:

"I'm full. You guys continue eating. I'm going back now."

Her storybook is still waiting for her!

"Wait a minute!" Wenren Yang jumped up and tried to grab her, but the little girl was as slippery as an eel. If it weren't for the maid coming in from outside, he almost wouldn't have been able to catch her as she darted away!

If word got out, where would he, a sword cultivator in the Golden Core stage, put his face?

Before he could say anything, the maid who had entered immediately knelt down, her face covered in dust and her hair disheveled: "Fourth Young Master, Fourth Young Master! You must do justice for me!"

"You kindly delivered things to Miss Liu, and we servants did our best. We don't know where we offended you, but Miss Liu actually burned everything you sent!!"

"What did you say?"

Wenren Yang's brow twitched, and the little girl in his hands was anything but obedient. He was about to say, "Behave yourself!"

He felt his body was a little unsteady. Tian Ning ignored him completely and walked forward on her own. He was dragged along little by little... He didn't know what kind of material the tattered clothes were made of, but Wenren Yang was completely unharmed despite all his strength. He was almost dragged out the door by Tian Ning!

It's a ghost!

How can someone with such small arms and legs be so strong?!

Hearing the commotion, people inside came out. Wenren Yang awkwardly loosened his grip on the little girl's collar; he didn't want others to see this embarrassing scene.

"Ningning, what happened?"

Madam Wenren had actually overheard what the maid said, but she suppressed her urge to question her and said gently, "Your fourth brother was doing this for your own good. How could you set fire to the courtyard and burn the maid like this?"

“Yes, sister. Even maids are human beings. If the fire gets bigger and spreads to the entire Wenren Mansion, it will be a terrible mistake!” Wenren Xue also advised in surprise.

Although Tianning really wanted to go back to reading the storybooks, she couldn't stand these people taking advantage of her kindness.

This time, she grabbed the maid by the collar, lifted the person kneeling on the ground, kowtowing and pleading for justice, up like a chick, and forced them to stand up straight.

Tianning asked, "I burned down the Wenren Mansion?"

The maid shook her head helplessly.
