"I'm looking for a familiar figure; I might be mistaken."
Si Tingyu frowned, his eyes filled with regret.
I thought I'd be lucky enough to see her tonight, but it turns out I was just hallucinating.
Old Master Si looked at him intently, recalling his earlier words, and asked with a subtle expression, "Tingyu, do you really have someone you like?"
"Grandpa, didn't I tell you?"
Si Tingyu didn't answer but instead spoke.
"I thought you were just making up an excuse to break off the engagement."
Old Si smiled wryly.
Little did they know that it was all true.
Si Tingyu's lips twitched slightly: "Grandpa, you should know that I never like to make excuses."
If he says he has someone he likes, then it can't be fake.
When did you get pregnant?
Mr. Si became curious.
I had never heard him mention it before; I didn't expect it to happen after I came back from this business trip.
Did you meet during a business trip?
As expected...
"I had a minor accident while on a business trip, and she saved me, but left right after."
Si Tingyu explained, "I'm looking for her too."
When Old Master Si thought of Si Tingyu's pale face when he first returned, he realized that he had indeed been injured in an accident. He originally wanted to ask how the accident happened, but knowing his grandson's temperament, he knew that if Si Tingyu didn't want to talk about it, no matter how much he asked, Si Tingyu would just dodge the question.
So I swallowed the words that were on the tip of my tongue.
"So, you don't even know her name or where she lives?"
"Master Si asked."
Si Tingyu neither agreed nor disagreed.
Seeing that he did not deny it, a look of surprise flashed in Old Master Si's eyes.
I never expected that my usually calm and composed grandson would also fall in love at first sight.
Not only is he infatuated, but he doesn't even know who she is.
In this vast sea of people, especially in a foreign land, finding someone is no easy task.
"Tingyu, good luck. If you really find the person, bring them home and I'll give you my opinion."
Old Master Si patted his shoulder, "Even if you like her, you have to investigate her background first, understand?"
People would stop at nothing to climb up to the Si family's status.
The honey trap is often the most effective.
Si Tingyu said, "Grandpa, I know."
He's not the kind of man who's blinded by lust; he wouldn't actually like a woman who would be harmful to him.
But since the girl was able to save him, he instinctively felt that she was alright.
A man's intuition can sometimes be quite accurate.
Old Master Si patted his shoulder, "As long as you know what's going on. Let's go."
The banquet was about to begin, and almost all the guests had arrived; they couldn't linger outside for too long.
The grandfather and grandson walked towards the banquet hall.
"Dad, Tingyu."
Wearing a burgundy dress and with her hair up, the still-charming Silinf walked towards them and said.
Old Master Si looked at her and frowned, saying, "Didn't I tell you to stay home and reflect on your actions? Why did you come here?"
He knew his youngest daughter's temperament all too well; she was incredibly petty and knew that Yu Mowan wouldn't be able to remain indifferent to her miscarriage. That's why he forbade her from attending tonight's family reunion banquet.
Unexpectedly, she outwardly complied with his demands but inwardly defied them.
"Dad, look at what you're saying. I have a good relationship with Aunt Fu, and Yinyin likes to stick close to me. The Shu family is holding a family reunion banquet. Don't you think I should come and show my support?"
Silinf smiled.
Old Master Si snorted, "Linf, you'd better come to show your support. If I find out you're up to something..."
He didn't finish his sentence, but the underlying threat was clear.
Silinf was somewhat afraid, but the thought of her father protecting a child who had just been recognized filled her with jealousy and resentment.
Yu Mowan pointed out her miscarriage, so this can't just be left unresolved.
"Dad, I'm just here to attend a banquet, but you keep giving me all sorts of instructions. People who don't know the situation might think I'm here to do something bad."
Si Linfu took Si Lao's hand and said with a smile, "Smile, you're the most handsome when you smile."
When she's being sweet-talking, she's the best at coaxing people.
Old Master Si's expression softened slightly.
"Tingyu, keep an eye on your aunt for me later, and make sure she doesn't cause any trouble."
He did not forget to address Si Tingyu.
Si Tingyu nodded.
"Auntie, if you want to keep your allowance this month, you'd better behave, understand?"
Si Linfu pressed her tongue against her back teeth, suppressing her anger, and smiled brightly again: "Tingyu, you child, your grandfather is thinking nonsense, why are you still messing around with him?"
"Because I promised to treat Xue Ru like my own sister."
Si Tingyu said, "Under my nose, I will not allow anyone to make her uncomfortable."
He'd made his point so clear; if Silinf still acted recklessly, then she shouldn't blame him, her nephew, for not giving her face.
Silinf's smile froze for a moment, and she said with a hint of annoyance, "I know, I know, I know what I'm doing."
She can always ask someone else to do it if she doesn't want to do it herself.
Si Tingyu didn't say anything more.
The three of them went inside.
Shu Xueyin, who was chatting with Fu Rong and her old friends, caught sight of them coming in out of the corner of her eye, and her innocent almond-shaped eyes lit up.
"Grandma, Aunt Si is here. I'll go say hello to her."
Shu Xueyin whispered.
Fu Rong looked over and nodded, "Go ahead."
She knew that Shu Xueyin's true intentions were not what they seemed, but she was happy for Shu Xueyin to go to Si Tingyu. If she could marry him, she wouldn't have to worry about Yun Yun controlling Shu Xueyin after her death.
Shu Xueyin walked over with a smile.
"Grandpa Si, Aunt Si, Brother Si."
She said sweetly.
Elder Si and Si Tingyu simply nodded indifferently.
Si Linfu, on the other hand, enthusiastically took Shu Xueyin's hand, "Xueyin is so beautiful! She looks like a fairy who has mistakenly descended to the mortal world. She has me mesmerized. Tingyu, don't you agree?"
