Chapter 21 We're all family

The next day, on her way home, Li Ruo was caught in a light drizzle.

She recalled hearing what sounded like thunder in the sky before she fell asleep last night.

I was just so exhausted at that time, and Wen Huaiyan's embrace was warm enough, so I fell asleep without realizing it.

After her rebirth, Li Ruo always felt that Wen Huaiyan was like a different person.

He has become more humane, something he never had before.

If I weren't still living in that villa, I might really think this was another parallel world.

Before we knew it, the car slowly drove into the familiar street.

The road was already lush and green, and now, with the light drizzle, Li Ruo felt as if she were in a fairyland.

Finally, the car stopped.

As she got out of the car, the first thing she saw was the familiar villa nestled in the rain.

"Thank you, Secretary Chen."

"You're welcome. Please feel free to call me anytime if you need anything, Miss Li."

Thank you.

Li Ruo held up an umbrella and walked slowly to the villa entrance.

She had barely raised her little hand, and before she could even knock, a voice came from inside.

"I'm not having it! Why did all my shares suddenly become that bitch's?"

Li Rao's words carried a fierce and aggressive tone.

“That was left to me by my father, for my brother and me. She was a worthless, lowly woman, a country bumpkin. If it weren’t for our family’s financial crisis, would she have had the chance to be brought into our home?”

Li Rao kept talking, clearly still harboring resentment over the share issue.

Recalling Li Rao's smile, which was even uglier than a cry, when they met yesterday, Li Ruo couldn't help but let out a cold laugh in her heart.

It's really unfair to Li Rao; she's been forced to be hypocritical all her life.

"You were the one who made the bet, what's the point of saying all this now!"

"Master, you have to help Rao Rao! Rao Rao is the apple of your eye!"

This family, singing in harmony, sounds truly happy and content.

Li Ruo felt that she was being somewhat superfluous by standing there at this moment.

Coincidentally, a maid was taking out the trash and opened the door to see her, calling out, "Second Miss is back."

The noise inside suddenly stopped.

Li Ruo smiled as if nothing had happened, "Mm."

As soon as they entered the house, Sun Lan ran over and warmly grasped Li Ruo's small hands, saying with concern, "Look at you, little girl, wearing only a thin coat in this cold weather, you must be freezing! Let the maid make you some ginger soup to warm you up, and there's also your favorite pear blossom and snow swallow soup simmering on the stove."

After speaking, Sun Lan tentatively asked, "Have you been here for a while?"

Li Ruo shook her head, "We just arrived."

Sun Lan seemed relieved. "You're such a sensible child. You could have just given your dad a heads-up and asked him to send someone to pick you up. Aren't you tired coming back by yourself?"

"As long as I can see my mom and dad, I'm not tired."

Playing along? Anyone can do that.

Li Ruo felt disgusted just looking at the smiling faces of the family in front of her.

In her previous life, when she was left in the yard for a whole night, why did no one care about her?

Now that he's realized she's hard to control and there's profit to be made from her, he's become more friendly with her.

Sun Lan gave Li Rao a look, and the latter immediately ran over as well.

"Little sister, I've missed you so much since we parted yesterday. I've prepared a lot of the latest clothes for you. Come upstairs with me later and pick some out."

If Li Ruo hadn't known the true nature of this family, she would have really thought she was about to become a lucky baby.

As soon as the soup was cooked, the whole family went out to eat in a lively atmosphere.

Sitting in the middle, Li Ruo kept her head down and ate the whole time.

Although she didn't look up, she knew that the four people at the silent dinner table must be exchanging glances.

Suddenly, Sun Lan spoke up.

"Ruoruo, I heard you met Changfeng yesterday. How did it go? Changfeng is a really nice guy. We watched him grow up. He's handsome and a perfect match for you."

Li Ruo smiled but didn't say anything.

Then Sun Lan continued.

"Ruoruo, you're about to marry Changfeng. You can't possibly take our Wen family's shares with you, can you? After dinner, you can sign a contract, and we'll pretend that day never happened."

As soon as he finished speaking, Li Zhiqi chimed in, "If you're still angry with Rao Rao, just transfer her to my name. We're all family anyway."

Amid the expectant gazes of those around her, Li Ruo cautiously raised her head, her beautiful, star-like eyes trembling slightly.

Li Ruo's voice was very soft, with a pitiful quality to it.

"Isn't what happened that day over? The shares were supposed to be mine."

Upon hearing this, Sun Lan paused, a hint of impatience flashing in her eyes. "Why don't you understand, child? We're a family. The shares belong to our family. If you marry Changfeng, they'll become joint property."

“Since we’re all family, it doesn’t matter who takes it. If you don’t want to give it to the Wen family, then why not arrange for my sister to marry Wen Changfeng?”

Li Ruo glanced at Li Rao cautiously, looking like she didn't dare to provoke her.

“Yesterday, the three of us went out. My sister and Brother Changfeng sat together, and I sat alone. I think they are a good match.”
