"What?" The sisters-in-law were hearing this for the first time.
Sister-in-law Gao explained with a smile, "The barbecue business isn't doing well right now. It's getting cold, and grilling is too much work, so I was thinking of switching to something else to eat. Xiaoyun said that mala tang is delicious, so she taught me how to make it. We'll take it out to sell tomorrow."
"It smells delicious, it must taste good."
One of the sisters-in-law shamelessly asked, "Do you want me to try the dish for you?"
Sister-in-law Gao didn't refuse: "Sure, we're all from the same compound, so everyone can come and try the food. If you like it, come and patronize my stall tomorrow!"
The sisters-in-law can eat for free, so there's nothing they won't agree to.
While they were talking, Yun Jin had already scooped a large bowl of spicy hot pot for He Tingchuan, which included a pork bone with some meat on it.
Thinking that Yun Jin didn't have any, He Tingchuan was about to give the bone to Yun Jin when he saw that there was a bone with more meat in Yun Jin's big bowl. She was trying hard to tear off the meat for Xiao Niangao to eat.
Seeing him looking at her, Yun Jin smiled and said, "You eat by yourself, don't worry about us. I won't make myself suffer."
He Tingchuan nodded, relieved to know that she wouldn't wrong herself.
That's true, her wife would rather wrong herself than wrong anyone else.
That's good; we won't lose out.
The Gao family's bowls all contained meat, pork bones, and pig's head bones. Gao's wife specially bought them to make broth, so the soup had the flavor of bones. The meat was definitely for them to eat.
Later, you can add beef bones and pork bones as well.
Forget about the lamb bones; some people can't stand the gamey smell of lamb, and we can't let it spoil a whole pot of soup.
The sisters-in-law had food, so they each went home and brought a bowl. Sister-in-law Gao cooked a big pot of broth for them, adding chili oil and garlic water as seasoning. They took a bite and their eyes lit up.
Looking at the Gao family members who were busy eating, they gave up.
One of my sisters-in-law was very outspoken: "Why didn't you tell me about such a great idea for making money? I also want to set up a stall and do business."
"Do you take on apprentices? I'd like to learn too."
"I can learn too!"
"I want to set up a stall too!"
Yun Jin didn't refuse, knowing they would definitely want to follow suit. Yun Jin smiled and said, "Sure, as long as each of you pays a thousand yuan for tuition, I'll teach you how to make mala tang and barbecue."
"Take the young master?"
"One...one thousand in tuition?"
Yun Jin nodded: "We are all from the same compound. Others pay a thousand in tuition, but for my wife's sake, I'll only charge you eight hundred. If you want to learn, come find me tomorrow and I'll teach you."
Hearing that it costs 800, that's outrageously expensive.
Even if they did have it, they wouldn't be willing to learn this skill.
Besides, how many bowls of spicy hot pot would they have to sell to make a profit?
Soon, their desire to earn money was defeated by the tuition fees. They chuckled a few times and said they would think about it again.
Yun Jin knew that everyone wanted to learn when it was free, but would back down when tuition was required.
She deliberately set a high price to discourage them from pursuing her.
It's not that she doesn't want to teach them, it's that they can't afford the tuition, so she doesn't want them to say later that she's keeping her ways of making money to herself.
People who have eaten mala tang are all curious about how it's made to taste so good.
It's just boiled in water with some chili oil and garlic water; it doesn't look special at all.
What they didn't know was that the secret lay in the broth, with a huge packet of seasonings simmering inside, completely invisible to them.
After finishing a bowl of spicy hot pot, everyone was sweating profusely.
Moreover, few people can resist the aroma of mala tang.
After finishing the meal, Brother Gao, who originally thought he wouldn't make any money, was proven wrong.
And you know what? Even when he's just passing by, he has to buy a serving to try.
Little Rice Cake was sweating from her nose as she ate, and He Tingchuan wiped her sweat: "Is it delicious?"
"It's delicious! Dad, will you learn to make it for me too?" Little Rice Cake's eyes lit up.
He Tingchuan couldn't refuse at all. He nodded indulgently to his daughter, "Okay, when Dad saves up eight hundred yuan, we'll go to your mother to learn."
Yun Jin chuckled: "Others charge tuition, but you don't. As long as you're willing to learn, I'll teach you for free. This is a benefit for family members."
The word "family member" held He Tingchuan captive for two seconds.
Others watching the couple showing off their affection felt even more envious.
Thinking about the 800 yuan tuition fee, I might as well just wash up and go to sleep.
I can't afford to learn it!
Yun Jin's cake was almost ready. After finishing the spicy hot pot, Yun Jin brought it out and, together with Sister Gao and her family, gathered around the cake to serve the little rice cake. He Tingchuan whipped the cream, but what seemed like a simple task almost cost him his hands.
The thought of making a cake for his daughter made He Tingchuan whip the cream without complaint.
Yun Jin put a lot of effort into making this cake. She's an amateur, so it can't compare to a professional pastry chef.
Anyway, they seemed quite satisfied and felt a great sense of accomplishment.
The cream was decorated with yellow peaches and the little rice cake's name was written on it: Happy Birthday, Rice Cake Baby!
Little Niangao loved it. Looking at the carefully made peach cake, she jumped up happily and said, "It's so pretty, Mommy, can we eat it now?"
"Make a wish first, then blow out the candles," Yun Jin reminded her.
Little Rice Cake closed her eyes adorably: "Mommy, what wish do you want?"
Yun Jin smiled and said, "Whatever you want most, that's what I'll grant you."
Little Rice Cake thought for a moment and said, "I wish that my parents would love me, be happy and joyful, buy me lots of delicious food, and spend more time with me!"
Upon hearing this, He Tingchuan and Yun Jin exchanged a glance, their fingers intertwined, feeling both touched and guilty.
I'm so grateful they have such a wonderful daughter.
I feel guilty that they are too busy to spend more time with the children.
Little Rice Cake was unaware that her wish was a sweet guilt for her parents. After making her wish, she blew out the candles and looked at Yun Jin expectantly: "Mom, can I eat now?"
