He Tingchuan was waiting at the station in his jeep. When he saw Yun Jin and her group come out, his eyes lit up. He strode towards them, took the suitcase from Yun Jin's hand, and pulled it himself.
She took the backpack from He's father and carried it on her back, holding Xiao Niangao's hand in one hand. Her gaze fell on Yun Jin's face, and she spoke to her with a smile: "Was the journey smooth?"
Yun Jin nodded.
He Tingchuan asked again, "Are you tired?"
Yun Jin shook her head: "Let's go for barbecue tonight."
He Tingchuan nodded: "Okay, I'll follow your arrangements."
After the couple exchanged a few words, He Tingchuan was satisfied and then looked at his parents.
Having a wife means forgetting one's mother; Mother He has already gotten used to it.
He Tingchuan said, "I booked two rooms at the guesthouse. My parents and Zizhen will stay there; it's just a short walk away."
Mrs. He nodded: "Okay, I'll do as you say!"
He Tingchuan noticed that Xiaodoubao was blocking his way. Xiaodoubao looked up at him expectantly with its big eyes. Realizing that he hadn't greeted his adorable pet yet, He Tingchuan smiled and said, "Xiaodoubao is so good. Has it been protecting its master the whole way?"
Little Bean nodded excitedly, barked once, and then behaved itself, neither blocking the way nor getting in the way; it was very well-behaved!
If you don't talk to it, the little bean will think you don't see it and will keep trying to get your attention.
After putting the luggage in the car, He's parents had just sat down when Li's mother recognized it as the car from the garrison. Thinking it was Li Aiguo coming to pick her up, she excitedly ran over, opened the car door, and was about to get in.
Upon seeing that the car was full of people, and exchanging glances, Li's mother realized that this wasn't a place to pick her up.
Li's mother thought, since it's a vehicle from the station, if they can ride in it, why can't she?: "Make way, I want to ride in it too."
Yun Jin pulled the person off the car: "You can't get on. If you want to take a car, take the bus."
Li's mother, who had been pulled aside, looked displeased: "Why can't I sit? I'm stationed here too."
He Tingchuan said coldly, "I lent this car to you. If you want to ride in it, go borrow another car yourself."
Upon seeing He Tingchuan, Li's mother cowered and stood obediently to the side, not daring to say anything. She watched the jeep leave, then spat at the vehicle, saying, "What's wrong with one more person squeezing in? How awful! Be careful it doesn't overturn!"
Li's mother's curse was useless. Yun Jin and the others' car did not overturn and arrived at their residence safely. They took He's parents to the guesthouse, checked them in, and let them rest for a while. The four of them would go to the family compound and then go out for barbecue and spicy hot pot together later.
He Zizhen is really looking forward to eating barbecue and spicy hot pot!
He Tingchuan, carrying large and small bags, brought his wife and daughter, Xiaodoubao, home. The aunties in the yard saw Yun Jin and her daughter and excitedly gathered around to greet them: "Who are these? Isn't this Nian Gao's mom and Xiao Nian Gao?"
"Oh, Little Bean Bun is back too?"
"Little Bean Bun has gotten chubby!"
Little Bean Bun proudly held his head high, following Yun Jin and the others, looking quite smug.
Yun Jin greeted her sisters-in-law with a smile, and asked He Tingchuan to take the luggage back. Xiao Niangao accompanied her mother to receive everyone's comments.
One person said they've grown taller.
One person said it's even cuter.
They even praised Xiao Nian Gao for her sweet talk.
Little Rice Cake is indeed sweet-talking. She carries a small bag filled with candy and gives it to anyone who greets her.
The women were mostly with their children. They were happy to receive the candy, and the children ate it while the adults chatted and laughed.
Knowing they would be back for about a month, everyone said they would get together more often in the future.
Yun Jin nodded, saying she needed to go back and pack her things, and they could talk again later.
Sister-in-law Gao isn't home. Now that summer is here, the barbecue stalls and spicy hot pot restaurants are doing good business, so she basically has to handle the ingredients there. It's not convenient to handle the ingredients here in the residential building.

Seeing how diligent He Tingchuan was, Yun Jin smiled and hugged him from behind: "Daddy Nian Gao, you've worked so hard. It's so good to have you. I don't have to lift a finger. I'll have to make it up to you tonight."

He Tingchuan suppressed his inner turmoil and took Xiao Niangao out to buy her ice cream.
Little Bean Bun wasn't afraid of getting tired, so he ran after them, eager to go to the convenience store to buy ice cream.
He Tingchuan not only bought Xiao Niangao and Xiao Doubao, but also bought one for Yun Jin. The couple ate one ice cream, which tasted much better than him eating one by himself.
Before dark, He's parents were all ready. They even went to Commander Li's house and sat for a while, chatting for a bit. When Xiao Niangao came to call them to go eat together, He's parents said, "You guys go ahead and we'll eat at the commander's house."
Yun Jin had no objection: "Let's go to the state-run restaurant tomorrow at noon. Daddy Rice Cake has booked a table, so we can all get together."
The division commander smiled and nodded: "Okay, I'll definitely go tomorrow."
Yun Jin left the gifts she had given, and took He Zizhen and the two granddaughters of the teacher's family out for barbecue and spicy hot pot. They wanted to go too, but it wasn't that the elders didn't like those foods, so they never had the chance to go.
