Chapter 44 I'm having a great time

"What happened to your hand?" He Tingchuan put down the lunchbox, grabbed her hand, looked at the bleeding fingertips, frowned, and casually took out a clean handkerchief and pressed it on the wound.

Taking advantage of the situation, Yun Jin acted coquettishly and pitifully: "It's all these walnuts' fault, their shells are too hard, they must be iron walnuts!"

He Tingchuan was surprised: "How do you know it's called Iron Walnut? The supply and marketing cooperative said that they only have this kind of walnut."

Yun Jin was speechless.

It really does live up to its name, walnut.

Seeing that it was just a minor scratch, He Tingchuan was sure it wasn't anything serious, so he cleaned her wound, took out a small piece of gauze from the drawer, cut off a piece, and wrapped it around her hand.

Even when he was shot, He Tingchuan didn't even flinch, yet he made such a fuss over a small walnut shell wound. If Li Aiguo knew, he would definitely give him a piece of his mind.

This is something that doesn't hurt you personally, but you feel excruciating pain!

Yun Jin felt a little embarrassed by the special treatment she received. This little injury would be fine in a few days, and there was really no need to waste a piece of gauze on it!

Seeing that the other person was bandaging her so seriously, Yun Jin wisely shut her mouth, deciding to let He Tingchuan practice.

Looking at her bandaged hand, Yun Jin raised her fingers and said, "Thank you, my daughter's dad."

He Tingchuan glanced at her noncommittally, then picked up the snacks on the table and put them in the cupboard: "Come and get them yourself if you want. Walnuts have hard shells, so just tell me if you want some, and I'll crack them open for you."

"good!"

Yun Jin smiled and nodded, looking expectantly at the dishes he brought back: "Wow, there's braised pork with preserved mustard greens today, I love this."

He Tingchuan then flipped the lunchbox containing the braised pork in front of her.

The other lunchbox contained hot and sour shredded potatoes and stir-fried greens.

Finally, there was a lunchbox containing soup, seaweed and egg drop soup.

Lots of seaweed, little egg.

Yun Jin didn't complain and was very satisfied with the three dishes and one soup for dinner.

Drinking more seaweed soup is good, as it can replenish trace elements.

Before eating, Yun Jin specially picked up a piece of braised pork for He Tingchuan: "Thank you, my daughter's dad, for buying melon seeds, peanuts, pistachios, fried dough twists, and walnuts. You're so good to us, mother and daughter. Have some meat to nourish yourselves."

He Tingchuan, who dislikes others serving him food, didn't find it annoying at all when he saw the perfectly marbled braised pork belly in his lunchbox.

Under her expectant gaze, He Tingchuan nodded lightly: "I bought that for my daughter."

"Yes, yes, I understand. I thank you on behalf of your daughter!" Anyway, it's her who's eating it, so it doesn't matter who it's sold to, hahaha.

For some reason, He Tingchuan felt that the braised pork with preserved mustard greens in the canteen today was particularly flavorful. One bite, and it was rich but not greasy, with a wonderful texture. It seemed that the chef's skills had improved even more.

Yun Jin ate a large piece of peach shortbread before He Tingchuan returned. Now, she ate a lot of rice with braised pork with preserved mustard greens. After she finished eating, her stomach felt a little full.

Yun Jin suggested going for a walk to digest her food.

He Tingchuan was worried about her going out alone, so after washing the lunchbox, he closed the door, took a flashlight, and went out for a walk with her.

Outside the compound is farmland. There are many people in the compound, so it's easy to run into other people. He Tingchuan isn't a talkative person, so he suggests going for a walk outside the compound.

Yun Jin had no objection.

The two walked along a country path, watching the fireflies fluttering about. Yun Jin, who only knew about fireflies from television and books, couldn't resist the urge to catch one.

Unfortunately, she was seven months pregnant and dared not make any big movements. She could only watch helplessly as the fireflies flew away, her little hands trying to grab them but finding none. She was so angry that she almost stomped her feet.

He Tingchuan looked at the unsatisfied woman, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but turn up. As a firefly flew in front of him, he caught it in his hand and presented it to Yun Jin: "Here you go."

Seeing the glittering light between He Tingchuan's fingers, Yun Jin was overjoyed: "Wow, that's amazing! You actually caught it! Let me see how it glows!"

He Tingchuan slowly loosened his fingers. The trapped firefly seemed to have resigned itself to its fate, lying motionless in his palm, its tail light-emitting part blinking like a little star.

Afraid of scaring the firefly away, Yun Jin carefully controlled her breathing and leaned closer to look at the cute firefly in her palm. It really was a firefly, except that its tail could flash and it had small wings.

Yun Jin held He Tingchuan's large hand, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at him, her face displaying a lively expression.

As He Tingchuan watched this scene, he wanted to see the tenderness in his eyes, which he himself was unaware of, under the glow of her long eyelashes and the twinkling light of the fireflies, and under her fair, jade-like skin and her face full of curiosity and surprise.

The firefly, perhaps realizing it was free, suddenly spread its wings and flew away while Yun Jin was admiring it.

He Tingchuan wanted to catch it back, but Yun Jin tugged at his sleeve: "No need, just take a look, let it live freely!"

Even a firefly that only has one summer long wants to spend that summer freely.

He Tingchuan didn't insist, but when they arrived at a place with many fireflies, he deliberately made a big movement to startle them away, creating a sky full of stars. Yun Jin was stunned and kept exclaiming, "So beautiful! Look, there's a pair! So pretty!"

Yun Jin happily admired the fireflies as they flew away.

He Tingchuan watched with a smile as she couldn't help but twirl among the fireflies, and the radiant smile on her face that she couldn't hide.

Seemingly influenced by what he saw, He Tingchuan also thought the fireflies were beautiful tonight.

In the past, I would just glance at it.

I think it's beautiful now.

The two watched the fireflies for a long time until they flew away to a place where no one would disturb them. Only then did Yun Jin return home satisfied: "Shall we come see the fireflies again tomorrow night?"
