Chapter 57 Flirting

Yun Jin had already spotted a pond teeming with shrimp.

I've inquired, and it's unclaimed, so you can fish for shrimp without worry.

Following her instructions, He Tingchuan tied the pig lungs with a rope and, like fishing, suspended them with a thick bamboo pole. Pig lungs are quite heavy, and it takes some effort to lift them after soaking them in water.

If Yun Jin hadn't been pregnant and couldn't overexert herself, and was also afraid of accidentally straining her back, she would have come much earlier.

He Tingchuan put the pig lung down for a short while, then felt something tearing at it. He picked it up and saw that it was hanging with seven or eight large clawed green shrimp.

These crayfish are not very big, their shells are not as hard as the red ones, and their meat is more delicate. This is the kind that Yun Jin usually likes to eat.

As soon as the crayfish took the bait, he excitedly told He Tingchuan to pull it up: "Quick, quick, put it in the bucket so it doesn't escape! I knew pig lungs were useful, haha! We'll have plenty of crayfish today!"

He Tingchuan looked at Yun Jin, who was gesturing wildly, with a smile on his face that he himself didn't realize: "Don't come any closer, be careful not to fall, stay where you are."

Yun Jin obediently stood still, watching as the crayfish were shaken a few times and all fell into the bucket.

Yun Jin couldn't resist poking at them with foxtail grass. Disturbed, the crayfish snapped open their large pincers and clamped down on the foxtail grass.

Yun Jin doesn't feel pain.

It doesn't hurt at all!

Knowing that crayfish claws are powerful, she wouldn't be foolish enough to tease them with her hands.

While they were playing with the crayfish, He Tingchuan brought out more crayfish, one batch after another. In less than half an hour, the bucket was filled with more than half a bucket of crayfish, huddled together.

It looks like it weighs about 90 pounds, and there are far fewer crayfish in the small pond.

Yun Jin called He Tingchuan back, "Let's go, come fishing again next time."

The pig lungs, which were only slightly damaged, and the duck intestines, which hadn't been used yet, were thrown into the small pond to feed the crayfish. Next time I come to fish for them, they'll definitely obediently follow me home.

I didn't expect catching crayfish to be so quick; Yun Jin didn't even touch the food and drinks she brought.

The sun was quite strong on their way back, so Yun Jin opened her umbrella to shield herself and He Tingchuan. The two chatted and laughed as they walked home, having already decided to prepare the shrimp in two ways: one spicy and the other garlic.

Upon arriving at the compound, we encountered many elderly women who curiously gathered around. Looking at the nearly half-full bucket of crayfish, they all exclaimed in surprise, "So many! Can we finish them all?"

"Crayfish are not tasty, they're all shells, they're not as good as fish."

"I wouldn't eat it even if it were given to me for free."

Yun Jin laughed and said, "Next time someone gives something to your sister-in-law, remember to give it to me too. I'll trade you two eggs for it. I won't mind. I just love eating crayfish without meat!"

"Okay, next time someone brings it, let's see if you're willing to trade two eggs for it." The sister-in-law thought Yun Jin was just bragging.

Yun Jin was sincere; she knew that in later generations, two eggs could only be exchanged for two or three crayfish.

Crayfish cost ten or twenty yuan per kilogram.

A single serving at a restaurant costs 138 yuan or more, and they still don't remove the head, gills, or shrimp vein.

It's incredibly expensive compared to two eggs.

Feng Qianqian happened to be there too. Watching Yun Jin swaggering around with He Tingchuan, her face beaming with pride, she clenched her fist on her knee and looked at Yun Jin's big belly with resentment.

Feng Qianqian had inquired and found out that Yun Jin was already seven months pregnant.

She remembered that in her past life, this bitch died when she was six months pregnant, along with her unborn child.

She's still alive, and it's all her own fault.

The thought that her presence gave Yun Jin a chance to survive made Feng Qianqian so angry that she vomited blood.

She regretted showing up prematurely; she should have made sure that bitch died first.

Unfortunately, we can't go back now.

Watching the couple sing in unison, and seeing how someone who would later become so important was now being bossed around like a headless chicken, he, a man who commanded thousands of troops, was being led around to fish for lobsters.

Feng Qianqian was almost driven mad with anger.

Does that bitch even know what kind of status this man will rise to in the future?

Yun Jin knew that she didn't care.

Noticing Feng Qianqian's resentful gaze fixed on her, and seeing Feng Qianqian's dark, twisted, crawling, unwilling, and resentful expression, Yun Jin gave her a mocking smile, successfully making her change her expression.

Yun Jin was happy and said to He Tingchuan, "Let's go home, let's go home. We still need to prepare the crayfish. Whether we can have them for lunch today depends on you."

He Tingchuan nodded slightly, without refusing.

The women's wives were unhappy: "What? You're letting Commander He cook?"

"Commander He leads so many people, how can he cook?"

"Yeah, yeah, which men cook?"

Yun Jin retorted, "In our family, it's the men who cook. So what? Is it illegal or a crime for the men in our family to cook?"

The sister-in-law, caught off guard and unable to find a chance to retort, stammered, "The men are cooking, what are we women supposed to do?"

Yun Jin said confidently, "If you can't cook, then you'll have to serve your husbands for the rest of your life. Our family is different. In our family, the capable are in charge. Our husbands are good cooks, and I love to eat them!"

For some reason, He Tingchuan felt a sense of pride and accomplishment.

With his cooking skills, it's unbelievable that people are so supportive.

How could I not feel a sense of accomplishment!

Feng Qianqian never expected that He Tingchuan would fall for such flattery.

This person... is too easy to fool!

The sisters-in-law were enlightened, realizing that the men in their families weren't incapable of cooking after all.

In some families, the men are very picky eaters, finding fault with everything, which suggests they must be excellent cooks.

Seeing that even a country girl could teach a man a lesson, how could they possibly show weakness?

When the men returned at noon that day, they saw the stove and pots were empty and wondered what had happened. But the women had all given up and refused to cook, saying they wanted to eat what the men made.
