Chapter 9 Being looked down upon by a dog

The expressions on her sisters-in-law's faces, as if they had swallowed flies, were something Yun Jin would savor for a long time.

Yun Jin had a smile on her face as she walked out of the compound.

He Tingchuan never expected that tying her shoelaces would make her happy all the way. The radiance on her face made her whole person come alive.

Compared to her previous lifeless appearance, He Tingchuan still finds her more pleasing to the eye now.

Unaware of the misunderstanding, Yun Jin saw a bus approaching the gate of the compound and about to close and leave. She panicked; she hated waiting for buses and was about to run when someone grabbed her wrist.

Yun Jin turned around, puzzled: "The car is leaving."

"You're pregnant, be more careful." He Tingchuan held onto her tightly, looking at her with disapproval.

Yun Jin glanced at her pregnant belly and silently reminded herself: You are pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, you are not alone now!

Seeing that she had calmed down and glanced at his large hand, He Tingchuan tactfully let go and explained, "We won't take the bus; the car will be delivered later."

So you had a private car! You should have said so earlier!

Yun Jin smiled happily as she looked at a military green jeep approaching from the end of the road. It was imposing and rugged, and looked very safe and reliable.

The car stopped in front of them. The driver was a young soldier who saluted He Tingchuan after the car came to a stop: "Commander, the car has arrived. Please get in."

He then looked at the person next to He Tingchuan, his gaze paused, and his eyes held a subtle, awkward, and conflicted expression that made Yun Jin feel embarrassed for him.

He Tingchuan came to the rescue: "This is your sister-in-law."

The young comrade then awkwardly saluted: "Hello, sister-in-law, I am Li Aiguo."

Yun Jin pretended not to notice the astonishment, scrutiny, and disdain in his eyes, probably because she felt she and He Tingchuan were not a good match.

Under such gazes, the original owner drove herself to a dead end, thinking that dying along with her unborn child would be a way to take revenge on those who bullied her.

That's absolutely ridiculous!

Yun Jin was different. She never paid attention to those who looked down on her. She nodded indifferently. "You treat me the same way I treat you. You think you can make me offer you a warm welcome but get a cold shoulder?"

"This is a military vehicle, and it happens to be unoccupied. I'll borrow it for a bit. Get in." He Tingchuan opened the back door, glanced at the height, then at Yun Jin's large belly, his cold, hard face showing no emotion, and reached out his hand to her.

Yun Jin thought she was going to have to act out a pregnant woman struggling to climb into a car, but she didn't expect He Tingchuan to be so understanding. Well, he is a male lead with an excellent character, so even if he doesn't like the wife he was forced to marry, he still has to put on a good show.

Yun Jin didn't hold back either. Holding onto his arm, she sat steadily inside, supported by his strength, and held onto her waist.

The Jeep was larger and taller than her car, so she wouldn't have been able to climb up without He Tingchuan helping her.

After He Tingchuan waited for her to sit down, he closed the car door, walked around the car and got in from the other side. Compared to Yun Jin, who needed help, he had it much easier, taking a long stride and easily getting into the car.

After they were seated, Li Aiguo started the car and asked, "Where are you going, Commander He?"

"People's Department Store," He Tingchuan uttered.

Yun Jin knew that this was a place specifically for buying clothes and fabrics, while food, drinks, and groceries were sold at the supply and marketing cooperative.

Li Aiguo drove very steadily and quickly drove the car to the People's Department Store.

After getting on the bus, Yun Jin didn't say anything, looking outside and taking in the scenery of this era from the book. The houses were low, simple, and backward, with various red slogans painted on the walls.

There were hardly any cars on the street; it was mostly people riding bicycles and walking.

The clothes also perfectly reflect the characteristics of this era, with blue, gray, and black as the main colors and fabrics, making them look simple and understated.

Yun Jin knew that at this time, anyone who dared to stand out or act differently would be courting death.

Even if Yun Jin doesn't like these colors of clothing, she has to keep a low profile here.

When I got to the clothing store, I chose a blue-green color scheme, which was brighter than black and gray.

Even if she has no other choice, she can choose what she likes better.

She was pregnant, and no matter how beautiful the clothes were, they couldn't bring out her beauty.

As for a good figure, that doesn't exist in this day and age.

Everyone is wearing loose, structured clothes; cinched waists are out of the question.

When Yun Jin arrived at the mall, she pointed to the blue-green women's clothing hanging in the store and said, "Could you please let me try these on?"

The sales clerk glanced at Yun Jin's tattered and patched clothes and gave her a disdainful look: "Do you have any money or cloth coupons? You dare to come to any place? Don't you even know your own worth? Can you afford the clothes here? Who am I going to sell them to if you get them dirty?"

"Go away, go away, don't get in the way of the other comrades buying clothes. I don't have time to entertain a beggar like you."

Yun Jin, feeling slighted, knew that her attire made people mistakenly believe she was poor and couldn't afford clothes. She laughed in anger: "How do you know I can't afford them? We're supposed to serve the people, so does dressing in rags mean I'm not one of the people?"

Yun Jin wouldn't tolerate her either, determined not to lose in terms of momentum: "How dare you look down on a poor commoner like me? What, do you think you're superior?"

The saleswoman, furious at being humiliated for the first time, exclaimed, "How...how dare you talk to me like that?"

"I'm speaking human language, can't you understand?" Yun Jin retorted sarcastically without giving any face. "What's wrong with such a big shopping mall? Why are you assigning someone who looks down on people to serve the masses? If you can't do it, I will."

"You...you get out! I'm not selling you my clothes!" The saleswoman was furious and, taking advantage of the fact that Yun Jin was pregnant and no match for her, tried to shove her roughly.

Before he could even touch her, he was blocked by a cold, hard figure: "Try touching my wife."
