Chapter 170 I brought your daughter-in-law

Liang Zhirou pursed her lips and didn't speak. She raised her eyes and looked at him with a somewhat aggrieved expression, as if to say, "Look at what you're saying, is it even human language?"

Chen Lu curled the corners of his mouth. This simpleton knew he couldn't win an argument with him, so now he had learned to silently condemn his conscience.

No, I have to find a way to completely erase this conscience; it's delaying things.

Thanks to Chen Lu's witty remarks, Liang Zhirou's attention was indeed diverted somewhat, and her tense mood eased considerably.

The two waited at the door for about three or four minutes. After Liang Zhirou had mentally prepared herself, Chen Lu took out his key and opened the door.

Liang Zhirou felt a little embarrassed for having stood with Chen Lu for so long, but seeing Chen Lu's nonchalant attitude, she was suddenly moved.

"Mom! I brought your daughter-in-law back!" Chen Lu shouted as soon as he entered the door.

Liang Zhirou froze on the spot. Now all her mental preparation had been for nothing.

Give me back the emotion I just felt...

Upon hearing the noise, Wang Xiaoxia came out of her bedroom, seemingly on the phone.

"Zhirou, you're here so early. Please have a seat. Auntie is busy with work." She said, pointing to the sofa, and then put her phone back to her ear.

"What sound did you hear? Oh, it's my son bringing his girlfriend home. That report..." She suddenly stopped midway through her sentence, "Your eldest son still doesn't have a girlfriend? Sigh, he'd better hurry up, times have changed, it's harder to find a girlfriend now that you're older. Look at Sister Li's son, he's getting married in a couple of days, and she doesn't do anything at home just waiting to hold her grandson."

As Wang Xiaoxia spoke, she walked back into the house.

Chen Lu glanced at his mother helplessly, then took Liang Zhirou's hand and led her to sit down on the sofa.

He realized that Wang Xiaoxia was planning to return the favor her colleagues had shown her. These old ladies with secure jobs didn't compare houses or cars; they just competed to see who got to hold their grandchildren first. It was truly amusing.

My mom used to be constantly bombarded with anxiety by her colleagues, and now she's become the source of anxiety for others...

What goes around comes around.

As soon as the two sat down, Chen Lu suddenly noticed that Liang Zhirou kept glancing to the side.

He looked over and saw Chen Mo lying flat on his side with the book covering his face.

Liang Zhirou probably thought Chen Mo was sleeping and didn't dare to greet her.

Chen Lu didn't care about any of that and immediately mocked, "I've never imagined you reading at home in my entire life, it's really strange."

Chen Mo, who had been lying flat, slowly sat up like a zombie, his dark circles making him look like a panda. "There's no way around it, the college entrance exam is coming up soon."

"Stop looking around, I'll take you shopping. Pick whatever you want." Chen Lu waved his hand and slapped a bank card onto the coffee table.

"Okay!"

Chen Mo, who had previously looked deadpan, suddenly had her eyes light up. But just as she was about to take the bank card, Chen Lu took it back and smiled:

"Just kidding. Don't trust anyone easily. Your brother is giving you a free lesson, no need to thank me."

Chen Mo gritted his teeth angrily, then suddenly threw himself into Liang Zhirou's arms, "Sister-in-law, look at him!"

Liang Zhirou was already used to Chen Mo calling her sister-in-law. She didn't say anything, but silently reached out and took the initiative to massage Chen Mo's eyes. Her movements and eyes were extremely gentle.

Now it was Chen Lu's turn to grit his teeth.

He had never wanted to be an only child so much in his entire life.

Let's find an opportunity to sell this cheap little sister; we'd even pay her to do it.

Two minutes later, Chen Lu couldn't take it anymore. "Little sister, don't you have a conscience? Your sister-in-law's hands get tired too!"

Chen Mo thought what he said made sense, and sat up with a chuckle.

"Let me do it," Chen Lu said, moving closer to Liang Zhirou.

Chen Mo was stunned for a moment, then shouted angrily, "Are you even human?!"

Just as the siblings were making a ruckus, Wang Xiaoxia came out after finishing her phone call. When she saw Chen Lu and Chen Mo grinning and looking bewildered, she felt her blood pressure rush to her head and took a deep breath.

"How old are you two, still making a scene like this! You haven't even poured Zhirou a glass of water in all this time!"

Chen Lu was unhappy. "Mom, your son's heart is bleeding. If you keep this up, I'm really going to run away from home."

The family of four originally each had their own porcelain water cup with cartoon patterns. Now, Wang Xiaoxia bought one for Liang Zhirou as well. She took out the new cup and poured water for Liang Zhirou, saying, "It's a deal."

"If my brother leaves, I'll leave too!" Chen Mo continued to add fuel to the fire. Surely the combined influence of her brother and sister couldn't be less than that of her sister-in-law?

Wang Xiaoxia chuckled and exclaimed with delight, "Oh, double happiness!"

Amused by the atmosphere, Liang Zhirou smiled slightly, feeling quite content. Unlike her initial feeling of being out of place, she no longer seemed to be an observer, but rather a piece of the puzzle that made up this heartwarming scene.

Her nose tingled with emotion; this family had been so incredibly accepting of her. Compared to her current happiness, all the hardships she had endured were truly worthwhile.

Thankfully, she pulled through.

Wang Xiaoxia patted Liang Zhirou's head and said softly, "Xiaolu and I will pick up your mother later, and we'll have a meal together."

Liang Zhirou opened her mouth slightly, and just as she hesitated about what to say, Chen Lu spoke up for her: "I asked before I came, and Aunt Xiao's legs are still not very convenient, but she invited you to come to her place for a meal when you have time."

The girl glanced at Chen Lu furtively; he seemed to never put her in a difficult position, no matter what...

Except when I'm bullying myself.

"Okay." Wang Xiaoxia nodded and didn't ask any more questions.

It was only a little past nine in the morning, and there was still some time before lunchtime. After chatting for a while, Chen Mo couldn't sit still any longer and loudly suggested, "Let's go shopping!"

Seeing that Chen Lu didn't react, she cleverly asked Liang Zhirou for help.

Anyone can tell that her brother's instruction manual is on her sister-in-law.

Liang Zhirou was too embarrassed to refuse, and after being begged for a few words, she nodded in agreement.

A little while later, Chen Mo, having changed his clothes, dashed out of the room.

She was wearing a T-shirt and slim-fit jeans, just like Liang Zhirou was today. However, unlike the gentle and refined Liang Zhirou, Chen Mo looked more youthful and energetic.

The saying "your appearance reflects your heart" is not just a joke.

"Why are you dressed so casually today?" Chen Lu couldn't help but ask.

"Nonsense, even if I dress up carefully, I won't look as good as my sister-in-law without makeup. Wouldn't it be incredibly embarrassing if people found out? If you don't try, you can still stubbornly say you're only a little bit worse than the first place. But if you really try, how can you be so stubborn?"
