Chapter 118: Misty Cypress Forest

Blore was lost in thought again.

This kid, this kid looks so much like that new classmate he just met, doesn’t he?

There was no such coincidence! Could it be that Team A had also come here to carry out the mission? Blore couldn't help but wonder. He stood there blankly, his mind racing with possibilities. Perhaps there was some connection between them, but he couldn't be sure at this point.

Perhaps Blore had been lost in thought for too long, and the child finally lost patience. He stepped forward and, without hesitation, grasped Blore's hand. At that moment, Blore shuddered with fear, then suddenly came to his senses. He instinctively tried to shake the child's hand off, but the child, as if anticipating this, quickly increased his strength and held on tightly. Blore shook several times, but could not break free.

"I didn't mean any harm! You fell into the tree and I brought you back to the house. I didn't hurt you!" The child explained eagerly, increasing the strength of his hands. He was afraid that Blore would take the opportunity to escape, so he stared at Blore tightly, not daring to relax for a moment.

Blore was very surprised, not understanding why the child was so nervous and scared. He tried to put the child at ease, so he asked, "Um... kid, did you find me in the tree?" He thought hard for a long time before he managed to squeeze out a question, hoping to get closer to the child.

The child nodded slightly, but still showed no sign of letting go.

Blore found that he had never wished so much that Matuan would suddenly appear beside him and help him communicate with the child.

The air suddenly became quiet, with only the sound of wind blowing through the leaves.

"Are you here to watch the show too? It seems that many people come here every year, but they all suddenly appear at our doorstep. But you are different. You fell onto the fruit tree on the back mountain, and you seem to be unconscious." The child was silent for a while and then suddenly started talking to himself, but the strength in his hands was still not loosened at all.

"It doesn't seem like it happens every year, but it feels like it happens every few months or so, with some strange appearances. What's your name, little brother? Are you here for the performance and the sacrifice, too?"

The child blinked his eyes, suddenly took out a bright red fruit from his arms, and stuffed it into Blore's arms.

Blore was a little embarrassed. When he was little, no one wanted to play with him. Unexpectedly, when he grew up, he became very popular with children. Now, children he had only met a few times were willing to give him food.

After stuffing the fruit into Blore's hands, the child seemed to be a little satisfied. "Eat it quickly. I like this. If you eat it, little brother, I will take you to see something else. I will tell you a secret. Everyone who comes here wants to know it every time."

As he spoke, the child began to stare at Blore eagerly again.

Blore looked at the fruit and suddenly remembered Nansong's mention of the purple lantern flowers, the Fanjiyu Festival, and the Lantern Festival. Could these be the things the child had mentioned? So, did they have any clues about their mission this time?

"Eat it quickly, it's very delicious and not poisonous. Well, let me have a bite first." Seeing that Blore began to be dazed again, the child thought that the other party didn't believe him, so he quickly snatched the thing and took a big bite.

Blore was startled. In just a few seconds the child had taken a large bite out of the fruit, but afterward he realized that despite the large area the child had bitten, the fruit had suffered very little damage.

I didn't think it was poisonous at first, but after the child did this, my inexplicable suspicion increased.

After finishing the chewing, the child looked at Blore again with bright eyes. Blore had no choice. Since the child had not hurt him just now, he should be fine now.

He was thinking about all sorts of things, but he had already started to eat the slightly injured fruit.

When the child saw that he had eaten, his eyes became brighter, his expression became more lively, and his features looked more beautiful and handsome.

"Our home is on the front mountain. I'll take you to see a secret, and then we'll go back and eat something delicious." The child's tone was very excited, and he pulled Blore and started running forward.

"Um, do you know about the Zhanyuxuan Feast?" Blore couldn't help asking as he ran after the child. Although he didn't hold out much hope for the answer, perhaps the child could provide some clues? After all, he seemed to be very familiar with this land.

Hearing this, the child slowed down and turned to look at Blore, his eyes revealing a hint of confusion. "Huh? What is this?" He shook his head, indicating that he didn't know. But then, as if he had suddenly thought of something, a look of sudden enlightenment appeared on his face, and he said to himself, "It's okay, I'll take you to see something else first. I love it there, and you will like it too. But my family doesn't seem to like it very much. They always say there are dirty things there. Don't be afraid, I've been there often, and there's nothing there. If there is, I will protect you!"

The child finished speaking and began to run again. He kept talking as he ran, as if he had endless energy.

As they ran, the scenery around them changed. First they passed through an orchard, then entered a dense wood. Finally, they came to a place Blore had never seen before - a vast cypress forest.

In the center of this cypress forest, a towering stage stands quietly. Its imposing grandeur, its carved beams and painted buildings awe-inspiring. Its presence creates a stark contrast with its surroundings, a breathtaking spectacle. Snow-white cypress flowers, tiny yet numerous, adorned its branches like stars, exuding a delicate fragrance.

This stage is grand and imposing, its intricate craftsmanship and ornate decorations betraying its former glory. Time has passed, but the stage has not lost its luster. On the contrary, it is like a glass of aging wine, its fragrance growing with age, exuding a captivating charm.

As sunlight filtered through the dense branches of the cypress trees, illuminating the ancient stage, the once plain surface instantly became ablaze with color. Like playful elves, the light danced across the stage, creating a shimmering tapestry of light and shadow, a mystical and beautiful painting. A gentle breeze blew the cypress blossoms down like snow, like a flock of pure white butterflies dancing in the air. They gently landed on the ground, whispering memories of past glory and honor.

In this peaceful and serene atmosphere, Blore stood quietly beneath the stage, closing his eyes and taking in everything around him. In a trance, he seemed to have traveled back in time, almost hearing the passionate beat of gongs and drums and the melodious singing voices from the stage. Those sounds echoed in his ears, filling him with an endless sense of enchantment.
