Chapter 15: Inexplicable Dream

Someone's footsteps echoed through the cavern, their hollow echoes making him feel suddenly alone and insignificant. He felt as if he were the only one left in this vast world, and a sense of loneliness washed over him. He couldn't help but wonder why he had come here, and where exactly this place was.

After completely regaining his composure, Bai Di's brain began to slowly work.

"Ah, you're awake. How do you feel?" Blore kept his eyes on Bai Di on Ma Tuan's back.

"Don't worry, we will definitely rescue you," Blore patted his chest and assured Bai Di, "We are on the way to the golden fruit, it will be soon."

But Bai Di felt uncomfortable in his throat and couldn't speak.

"Don't talk for now. The flowers grow very fast. Flowers are starting to grow on your back. It's best to fall asleep for a while now. As soon as you wake up, several flowers will grow," Nan Song said quickly when she saw him wake up.

Bai Di nodded slightly. He tried to establish a mental connection and wanted to release the image, but the action that was usually easy for him was now so easy that he couldn't even complete the first step. He felt inexplicably angry.

"Don't think about anything else and calm down," Nan Song looked back and was immediately startled, frowning slightly.

Bai Di also reacted immediately and began to recite the mental method to calm down.

"Don't worry, we'll be there soon!" Ma Tuan, who was carrying him on his back, also spoke to comfort him.

He didn't say anything, but just closed his eyes silently. But after a while, nothing else happened.

As he went deeper into the cave, he discovered that the surrounding walls were also covered with various strange symbols and patterns, as if telling stories from ancient times. With every step he took, carrying his hemp ball on his back, he could feel an ancient and powerful force surging, a power that both awe-inspiring and piqued his endless curiosity.

His head suddenly felt dizzy again, as if an invisible force had gripped him tightly, preventing him from breaking free. He knew in his heart that this meant he was about to fall into those endless memories again.

Soon, countless colorful butterflies appeared before my eyes, dancing gracefully, beautiful and dreamy.

However, this beautiful scene lasted only a moment before it quickly transformed into a monotonous black and white scene. The sound of the wind could be heard from far away, carrying an inexplicable sadness and desolation.

He struggled to open his eyes and found himself in a large open space, surrounded by dense forests. The trees were tall and straight, a deep dark green, and exuded a vibrant vitality.

The sunlight shines through the gaps in the leaves, casting mottled shadows, adding a mysterious atmosphere to the whole scene.

He attached himself to the man's body again, and as soon as he looked up, he saw a tombstone engraved with the words "Tomb of my late wife Styalyan". It was not the common language used on their Haijin planet, but he could understand it.

Bai Di saw the man lower his head again, his breathing seemed to be intermittent. Suddenly, he raised his head abruptly, leaned lightly against the tombstone, and solemnly swore in front of his wife's grave, "Don't worry, I will make sure our children will live safely and smoothly." After that, he got up and left.

The village was so small that Hermes lowered his head and stumbled along the road alone.

"Have you heard? Those two renowned geniuses used forbidden techniques to save their child. I heard the child is still alive in an incubator. He's several years old and still there. He's said to be afraid of even a little bit of outdoor air."

"Exactly. I heard that forbidden technique isn't allowed to be used at all. I heard that his wife secretly used it. How scary."

"But that child is pitiful. He was clearly dead right after birth, but the couple managed to revive him. Unfortunately, they didn't do it right, and now he's half-dead."

"Oh, don't say that. Poor parents in the world, who doesn't want their children to be healthy?"

"How can we possibly succeed in something that goes against the laws of nature? In my opinion, we should just follow these laws and let go when we should."

"Okay, okay? It doesn't matter what you say. As long as they are willing, it's fine."

"Then I just can't bear to see two such powerful people, one dead and the other living like a zombie all day long."

When the villagers saw him, they all talked about him secretly behind his back.

Bai Di listened to these words, but his heart remained calm. Hermes had heard such words countless times over the years. He had long been accustomed to people's curiosity and speculation, and he ignored the discussions.

He quickened his pace back home, quickly put on his protective suit and walked into the laboratory. As soon as he entered the laboratory, Bai Di couldn't help but feel a little surprised.

The entire laboratory looks less like a formal scientific research facility and more like a world of fantasy and creativity. Besides a giant transparent incubator, the interior is designed to resemble a miniature maple forest, complete with a gurgling stream.

Bai Di observed again, discovering that every maple leaf in this small forest was crafted from exquisite red silk, while even the tree trunks were meticulously textured with brown satin. The protective shield simulating the sky emanated a bright and warm light, shrouding the entire space in a soft halo.

Bai Di, also known as Hermes, stood quietly at the door, staring blankly at the warm nest in front of him that he and his wife had carefully built for their children.

Everything here is so delicate and beautiful, full of their expectations and love for the future. In this small world, they poured countless efforts and emotions, hoping to give the upcoming new life a perfect home. Unfortunately, now there are only him and the child.
