Chapter 234 The Coffin of Delirium (2)

Shift your gaze.

It was a vast expanse of black and purple canalside spirit forest, like a solidified ocean of darkness, stretching all the way to the chaotic horizon at the end of the sight.

Millions of twisted giant trees rose from the ground, each one like a giant frozen in pain, their dry branches scratching at the leaden sky in the void.

The trunk was covered with raised vein-like lines, which were slowly pulsating with some strange rhythm, oozing out sticky amber resin. The translucent resin actually contained countless struggling human-shaped shadows.

Bai Di walked slowly through this strange Binqu Linglin forest. His footsteps sank silently into the weeping moss, and every step aroused tiny sobs.

His figure seemed particularly thin under the dark orange light, yet he inexplicably blended into this absurd world.

At some point, the layers of strange clothes on his body had disappeared, like Tu Mi flowers blown away by the wind, turning into fine dark purple dust and quietly blending into the surrounding mist.

The python-like black chains were not wrapped around the surface of the tree, but pierced out from the inside of the trunk.

These living metals sometimes contracted and squeezed into the bark, and sometimes expanded, revealing dense cracks on the tree trunk between the chains - dark red pupils flashed deep in each crack.

The entire forest groaned with metallic friction as the chains squirmed, interspersed with inhuman whimpers, as if the earth itself was chewing some horrible food.

Bai Di's gaze only lingered briefly on the strange crystal egg before quickly moving away.

He frowned slightly, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the cuffs of his sleeves, the touch was cold and real - but was all this really not just another illusion?

Not long ago, he was at the base, wearing that slightly thick black fleece sweatshirt and overalls, reviewing with Nansong and Matuan Blore.

Although he was slender at that time, he was not as tall as he is now, and his face still had a bit of youthfulness.

But at this moment, he looked down at his hands, which were slender and powerful with distinct joints. Even the lines of his wrists exposed by his cuffs became more sharp.

He raised his hand and touched his face - the outline of his jaw was clearer, his nose was straighter, and when his narrow and long almond-shaped eyes were slightly narrowed, the curvature of the tail of his eyes became more obvious.

The strands of hair on her forehead had grown quite long, and when they fell, they cast a faint shadow on her porcelain-white skin.

All these changes came so suddenly that he didn't even have time to adapt.

The last thing in my memory is the blood-red Tumi flower.

They bloomed without warning in the chaotic consciousness, weird and strong, with petals layered on top of each other like surging waves of blood.

Nansong and Matuan were also present at the time. The three of them looked at each other, and no one could understand this sudden strange phenomenon.

What's even more bizarre is that when the flowers are in full bloom, they begin to twist and converge, and finally condense into a familiar face - Blore.

The face made of petals was lifelike and even smiled at them, the curve of the corners of the mouth so perfect that it was creepy.

Then, darkness swallowed everything.

And now, he stood alone in this black and purple canal spirit forest. The wriggling sound of the chains around him was like some kind of whisper, and the gray-purple mist flowed around him, winding and dispersing as if it had life.

He took a deep breath. The air was filled with the sweet smell of resin and the rusty smell of metal, so real that it was undeniable.

"So...is this reality, or another illusion?"

He whispered to himself, his voice particularly clear in the silent forest.

No one answered.

Only the crystal egg in the distance trembled slightly, as if responding to his question.

He looked down at his sleeves, his fingertips lightly brushing the fabric, his expression dazed for a moment.

The experience just now - the world that suddenly appeared, the distorted space, the whispering voices - looking back now, it seems like a dream, it is difficult to distinguish between truth and falsehood.

But the dark purple forest, the wriggling chains, and the hanging crystal eggs before him reminded him so vividly:

This is not a dream, but a deeper and crazier world.

Thoughts are running wild.

But Bai Di's gaze suddenly froze on a place not far away - there was an indescribable object lurking there.

It is like pure black, but deeper than darkness, as if even the light will be swallowed up by it.

But what was strange was that golden lines were flowing on its surface, winding and moving like a living thing, sometimes flashing a dazzling light, and sometimes dimming, as if some ancient rune was breathing.

Its shape is difficult to define, sometimes like a twisted mist, sometimes as solid as a solid entity. One can vaguely see its scale-like texture, each piece glowing with a cold metallic light.

Even stranger was the fact that its head—if it could be called a head—extended with several twisted horns, their shapes somewhere between dragon horns and dead branches, their surface covered with fine cracks, and a faint dark golden glow seeping from deep within the cracks.

There were irregular bumps on its back, like wings that had not yet fully unfolded, or like some deformed bone spurs, which trembled slightly as it squirmed.

Bai Di narrowed his eyes and muttered subconsciously: "...This thing, is it alive?"

His voice was very soft, but the mass seemed to have heard it. The golden lines on its surface suddenly flickered violently, and its entire body shrank slightly, then slowly stretched, as if in response to something.

What was even more strange was that it began to make sounds - not transmitted through the air, but sounded directly in Bai Di's mind, like countless tiny metal friction sounds mixed with a low hum. It didn't form a complete sentence, but it inexplicably made people feel that it was... curious?
