Chapter 54 Sending His Wife Back to Her Parents' Home "You didn't give me any food..."
"You're not giving me any food." Ning Buyi blinked, his clear pupils revealing a hint of grievance. He couldn't pick it up with his chopsticks, so what was wrong with eating some of what Zhu Yan and his bowl had? He really was a stingy little bun.
His lips twitched. How could Ning Buyi equate not being able to pick him up with not being given food?
Why didn't you let Xiaohe pick it up?
Zhu Yanhe believes that the word "jealousy" does not exist in his dictionary; he simply feels that the input and output are not proportional.
He cherished this place like his own heart, but in the end, he was just doing all the work for someone else, even if that person was also him.
Steam rose from the table. Zhu Zhu glanced at her phone, listening to their conversation in between, and casually turned the heat of the pot down. Her brother was really something, even jealous of himself! Was she even going to eat? If he didn't eat, would her little rascal still want to eat?
"Really? Can you invite Xiaohe over to eat?"
Upon hearing this, Ning Buyi's eyes darted around. "Xiao He is going to serve him some food? Is that alright? That's too much trouble. Zhu Yanhe is actually a very nice person."
The bubbling sound in the pot mirrored Zhu Yanhe's unwilling to admit it, yet his heart was already bubbling with sourness. He sighed softly and loosened his grip on Ning Buyi's wrist. He scooped the vegetables out of the pot; his biggest mistake was arguing with this little pig in front of him.
You argue with him, and he still thinks you're very interesting.
Zhu Yanhe's encounter with Ning Buyi was like the perfect prediction meeting the ultimate fool; the moment of restraint passed.
Ning Xiaozhu looked at the hard-earned food in his bowl and began to eat with gusto, even ignoring Xiao He. Of all things, eating was the most important thing!
A wisp of steam rose, piercing through the white mist. Across from her, Zhu Zhu, feeling utterly bewildered by the bright light, stared at the porcelain bowl, speechless. Her brother's face was as black as soot. Why didn't that jerk try to comfort her husband? Was this some kind of romantic gesture? Oh well, it wasn't her problem.
At the silent dinner table, Zhu Yanhe continued to serve him food as usual, but didn't say a word. Ning Buyi didn't notice anything and just kept eating, knowing he would get a spanking if he didn't finish his food.
A suffocating atmosphere enveloped Zhu Zhu. The gathering of three left Zhu Zhu alone in her chair, feeling like she had a fishbone stuck in her throat, a thorn in her back, and sitting on pins and needles. Zhu Zhu originally didn't want to care at all, but why was her brother looking at her like that!
She couldn't describe the feeling; there was even a hint of resentment towards her husband. Why didn't he go and see his wife?
Zhu Zhu was driven to her limit and, with a smile, used the serving chopsticks to pick up a piece of food and put it in her brother's bowl: "Brother, eat more."
Stop staring at her, she can't help you.
Zhu Yanhe showed no reaction, neither accepting nor rejecting.
Ning Buyi happened to look up and catch this scene. Seeing that Zhu Yanhe hadn't touched his chopsticks, he also picked up some food from his own bowl and gave it to Zhu Yanhe: "Why aren't you eating?"
Zhu Yanhe, who had been sitting like a stone block, finally moved. He glanced at the bowl and said indifferently, "Take away what you picked up."
Ning Buyi stared wide-eyed in disbelief. What did that mean? He was being disliked! He snorted twice, then took away the bowl in front of Zhu Yanhe and, in a show of defiance, picked up a bit of food from the bowl, put it in his mouth, and chewed it a few times as if it were Zhu Yanhe.
Zhu Yanhe wasn't annoyed. He reached out and took away the full bowl piled up in front of him. The two of them fussed around for a while before finally exchanging bowls.
"My bowl!"
Realizing he had lost the big picture for the small gain, he reached out to grab the bowl back, but Zhu Yanhe simply held it up casually, making it out of his reach.
Ning Buyi was discouraged and returned the bowl to him, trying to get her own bowl back in return, as he still had some crab he wanted to eat in his bowl!
Zhu Yanhe glanced at the bowl that had been put back in its place and then moved it back to the boy, still unmoved.
For the sake of his love of food, the boy clasped his hands together, his prominent collarbone barely visible beneath his clothes. The thin shirt he wore was bought for him by Zhu Yanhe, and it was a little loose on him.
Ning Buyi's eyes held sincerity; there was still the bowl in his hands and the blessing, so he couldn't force it.
He blinked, his eyes filled with longing for the bowl: "Please, Zhu Yanhe, give me back the bowl, okay?"
If all else fails, you could just give the crab back to him.
Zhu Yan and Jing Jing watched him, the two of them facing off, neither willing to back down. The man's face was expressionless. Finally, he put down the bowl and got up to go back to his room.
In the empty living room, the two remaining people looked at each other in bewilderment. Ning Buyi hadn't expected the fight to stop so suddenly. He asked hesitantly, "Sister Zhu Zhu, what's wrong with him?"
"Maybe he's angry?" Zhu Zhu shook her head, but in her memory, her brother had never been angry. He always had a calm and indifferent expression, like "oh, so what?"
"You might need to coax him a bit."
Her slender eyebrows furrowed slightly. Her brother's words to Jianjianbao were definitely a way to attract attention, and she had to help him.
Ning Buyi frowned. It was just that he hadn't been given any food. Why was he being so stingy? Luckily, he was magnanimous and didn't hold it against Zhu Yanhe.
The boy's tone was tinged with indulgence: "There's just no way to deal with him."
He propped himself up on the table, picked up the bowl, and slowly moved towards the room. Zhu Zhu shrugged indifferently, then put a plate of her favorite dishes into the pot. It was just a typical little couple's game.
The dimly lit bedroom had only half a light on. Zhu Yan leaned back on the sofa, his arms resting on the backrest. The warm yellow light enveloped him, and the man closed his eyes, lost in thought.
Ning Buyi pushed the door open forcefully, and the bright white light from outside flooded the room. Zhu Yanhe was lying on the sofa with his head tilted back, his hair casually swept behind his head. The light shone on half of his face, outlining his superior features. He didn't react when he heard the door open.
"Zhu Yanhe, come pick me up." Ning Buyi's legs started to ache from standing against the wall.
At the call, the person inside the room immediately stirred. Zhu Yanhe rubbed his temples, then got up and strode over, as if afraid the person would fall. He picked the person up and then said calmly, "You're not allowed to come in to eat."
He said that, but his body betrayed him by pulling the person closer. Ning Buyi rested his head on his shoulder and muttered softly, "Let's see what you say when I feed you later."
Every whispered complaint reached his ears, and Zhu Yanhe couldn't help but smile. The pent-up frustration in his heart vanished instantly, and he mischievously tossed the person on top of him around.
"Are you and Zhu Yan crazy?!"
Upon hearing this, the man's smile deepened, but when facing the boy, he suddenly composed himself, took a few big steps, put the boy on the sofa, and got up to leave.
As he turned around, a hand grabbed the hem of his shirt and swayed it behind him. Zhu Yanhe pretended to be displeased, slightly furrowing his brows as he looked up at him.
"Sit still!"
Ning Buyi forcefully pulled Zhu Yanhe to sit down beside her, her eyes trembling as she began to think of a way to make Zhu Yanhe surrender. Begging was no longer working, a kiss wouldn't do—he had a girlfriend now—a hug? But they had already hugged so many times, would that work?
Let's do them all!
The boy shifted his weight forward a little, wrapping his arms around the broad back. Zhu Yan felt warm against his body, as comfortable as ever.
Zhu Yan sat there like a mountain. Ning Buyi took his hand and rubbed it against his face. His hand was warm. That should be enough!
Zhu Yanhe watched the boy wreaking havoc on her body with a calm gaze. She placed her hand on the boy's waist, which was large enough for one arm to wrap around, and pulled him closer to her, like a soft little dumpling lying on her body.
He whispered in the boy's ear, "Don't move."
Ning Buyi nestled obediently against his chest, his heart pounding against his skin, the rapid heartbeat reaching his ears second by second: "Zhu Yanhe, are you not angry anymore?"
He's already hugged her, so he's probably not angry anymore. Sigh, without him, wouldn't Zhu Yanhe be furious?
The man let out a soft breath: "I'm not angry."
He wasn't angry yet, and he didn't even want to talk about Zhu Yanhe anymore. After lying down for a while, Ning Buyi propped himself up and sat back down, picked up the bowl and started eating by himself. It would get cold if he didn't eat soon. Since Zhu Yanhe wasn't angry anymore, he wouldn't give him any.
Ning Buyi stuffed food into his mouth one bite at a time, and Zhu Yanhe suddenly asked, "Didn't you say you were going to feed me?"
"Alright, alright, why are you so greedy?" Ning Buyi reluctantly picked up a slice of meat with his chopsticks and held it to his mouth. He had previously complained and asked Zhu Yanhe to take it away, but he didn't hold it against him.
"That's all! We're not giving any more!"
On his day off, the morning sunlight shone through the glass but was blocked by the curtains. Zhu Yanhe stayed in bed as usual, while Ning Buyi woke up a little earlier. He stretched in the man's arms, pulled away the hands clasped around his waist, and secretly slipped out of bed.
He ran to the living room without even putting on his shoes to check on his little fish. He had only remembered that he had a bag of fish in the kitchen when he was about to go to bed the night before. The two of them hurriedly moved the fish to the tank, but the two little fish still looked listless. He hadn't even had a few glances at them before Zhu Yanhe picked them up and took them away.
Saying things will be better tomorrow is just kidding.
Two small fish were chasing each other in the corner, their beautiful tails splashing the clear water. The two fish lived in a luxurious villa. Ning Buyi, feeling tired and sore from squatting, moved a small stool and sat in front of the tank. He didn't come back to his senses until a hand was placed on his shoulder.
He was startled and trembled for a moment. When he turned around, Zhu Yanhe was standing behind him, wearing a set of home pajamas. His hair was unkempt and unlike usual, but now it fell obediently on his forehead.
Ning Buyi pressed his forehead against the glass, pointing at the two fish swimming happily: "Zhu Yanhe, they're alive!"
The man gave a soft "hmm," handed him a pair of slippers, and after a few steps, he realized that it was definitely better to have carpets all over the house.
"Zhu Yanhe, we haven't named them yet," Ning Buyi muttered, already having a plan in mind.
Zhu Yanhe pointed to one of the more lively fish and said, "This is Ning Buyi."
Upon hearing this, the boy smiled and pointed to the other one: "Hey, Zhu Yanhe."
The fish didn't respond, so take that as a yes!
The autumn air begins to smell of leaves.
A layer of yellowed leaves had already piled up under the sycamore tree at the entrance of the internet cafe. Sneakers crunched as they stepped on the fallen leaves. A gentle breeze lifted his trouser legs. Ning Buyi was wrapped in a plaid scarf, and he was dressed head to toe in clothes that Zhu Yanhe had bought for him.
"Go back!" Ning Buyi turned to look at the man beside him. He was wearing a coat in a similar color to the boy's and also had a plaid scarf wrapped around his neck. He stood quietly beside him.
As the wind gently ruffled the strands of hair in front of her eyes, Zhu Yanhe spoke softly, "Didn't you think this place was too small?"
Ning Buyi's eyes widened slightly. When did he say this place was small?
But Zhu Yanhe has been acting really strange lately. Sometimes he drools on his face at night, and sometimes he hugs him so tightly that he can't breathe.
