☆94. Chapter 94: Another Rejection

Chapter 94: Another Rejection

Chu Qiao didn't want to take such a risk, but for the 400,000 yuan, she decided to go.

Feng Ge needs this money, Xiao Diao and Da Bai both rely on her for support.

If she had a choice, she would also like to be well prepared before setting off, but she had no choice.

……………………

At night, Chu Qiao walked in Niu Jiao Alley, which was full of garbage. This was her second time returning to her parents' home.

During the two months, Chu Qiao and his mother talked on the phone many times, but his father was still angry. His mother, Shen Chunhan, was afraid that Chu Qiao would be scolded when she came back, so she kept telling her to wait a little longer.

At this dangerous moment on Python Island, Chu Qiao suddenly thought of the fact that he had not yet gotten along well with his parents, and he felt regretful. So no matter what, he had to go home to see the two old people.

Chu Qiao's parents had a daughter when they were old. They were over 60 years old and both retired at home. They hardly went out except to buy groceries. They were very isolated from the news and knew very little about Chu Qiao's affairs.

In order not to worry them, Chu Qiao did not tell them about his live broadcast.

In front of the mottled gate, Chu Qiao no longer felt the strangeness he had felt last time.

“Squeak—”

Chu Qiao pushed open the door and shouted, "Mom and Dad, I'm back."

When Chen Chunhan heard the sound, he hurried out of Liwu. When he saw his daughter, his eyes were instantly covered with mist.

She touched Chu Qiao's head and said, "It's been such a long time since we last met. You've lost so much weight and your complexion looks so bad."

Chu Zheng stood at the door of the inner room, glanced at his daughter with a sidelong glance, and snorted coldly: "You asked for it."

Chen Chunhan secretly rolled her eyes at Chu Zheng, but didn't dare to openly refute him. She pulled Chu Qiao over and comforted him, "Let's eat. Let's not talk about those dirty things today."

Chu Qiao was used to seeing men being arrogant, and was immune to men of his father's level. He said nonchalantly, "Mom, look what I brought you."

Chu Qiao took out a gift, an automatic back massager.

The mother turned it over and over as if it were a treasure, but she kept saying, "It doesn't matter if it's expensive, I don't need it. I'm in good health."

Chu Qiao smiled and said, "It's not expensive. A friend gave it to me." Then he took out a set of nutritional supplements and secretly placed them under the windowsill.

I whispered to my mother, "This is for Dad."

Chu Zheng lowered his head to read the newspaper, but his eyes kept drifting towards Chu Qiao. Seeing the mother and daughter whispering, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.

Chu Zheng suddenly coughed lightly: "Are you going to eat or not? The food is cold."

Chu Qiao opened her eyes wide and looked at Chu Zheng. Was she hallucinating? Did Chu Zheng speak? Was he... calling them to eat?

Chu Zheng frowned, threw the newspaper aside, and looked unhappy.

Shen Chunhan pushed Chu Qiao: "Hurry, hurry, eat, you've been busy talking."

On the red painted square table, there were three bowls of rice, a plate of stir-fried vegetables, and a plate of eggs.

Shen Chunhan put down his chopsticks: "How about I go out and buy some more meat to cook? Usually, it's just your dad and I, so we can't eat much, so..."

Chu Qiao grabbed Shen Chunhan's arm and said, "I just want to eat your scrambled eggs. Stop making trouble."

Chu Qiao is not picky about food, but she didn't expect her parents to eat such vegetarian food.

Chu Qiao couldn't help but say, "You two should eat more meat on a regular basis."

Shen Chunhan: "Your father has a poor appetite and can't eat greasy food."

Chu Zheng glared slightly, obviously dissatisfied with Shen Chunhan's self-willed behavior.

Chu Qiao was stunned. No matter how strong the person was, he was just an old man or an old child. He could only be coaxed.

Chu Qiao said, "Mom, make a pot of millet porridge for Dad every night to nourish his stomach."

"Dad, being angry is bad for your health. It will cause bloating and stomachache, so you should be less angry in the future."

Chu Zheng was a strong-willed person and never wanted to lose face in front of others. When he heard his daughter say that, he was about to curse, but when he raised his eyes, he saw Chu Qiao looking at him with a smile in his eyes.

Chu Zheng: "You...eat well and don't talk."

Chu Qiao and his mother looked at each other and laughed secretly.

After the meal, Shen Chunhan was clearing the dishes when Chu Zheng suddenly stood up.

"Your letter has been here for some time."

As Chu Zheng spoke, he pulled out an envelope from under the glass on the coffee table.

The envelope was intact, showing no signs of having been opened. Chu Qiao looked at the mailing address: 124 Qianjin Road. The sender's name was blank, and there was no contact number.

Chu Qiao frowned. Who would know her parents' address and send it here specifically?

The moment he opened the envelope, Chu Qiao was a little excited and his hands trembled slightly.

"Three million!" Chu Qiao exclaimed. Although his voice was not loud, Chu Zheng heard it clearly.

Did Sister Ao pay me my salary in advance?

The system has a change of heart?

Or did the lottery ticket bought by Chu Qiao in the past win the prize?

Countless possibilities popped up in Chu Qiao's mind, but there was only one result: she suddenly had 3 million more.

Chu Zheng leaned over and suddenly said coldly, "You haven't had a place to work lately. You're nowhere to be found every day. Where do you get so much money? Did you do anything illegal?"

Chu Qiao was stunned and shook his head: "I don't have any."

A note fell from the shaking envelope.

Chu Zheng picked up the note and whispered, "Ms. Chu, I testify for my son that this check is yours, dated April 24th."

Chu Qiao narrowed his eyes. "That means the day after tomorrow?" he asked. "Testify? For whom? What?"

A lot of questions swirled in Chu Qiao's mind.

Chu Zheng handed the note to her. Chu Qiao picked up the note and saw that what was written on it was exactly the same as what Chu Zheng read.

Chu Qiao turned the note over and saw two small words in the lower right corner.

Chu Zheng suddenly spoke up: "Although our family is not wealthy, we are a decent and honest family. We do not do anything illegal. If you do anything shameful, be careful or I will break your legs."

Chu Qiao: "Dad, I really didn't."

As Chu Qiao spoke, his mind was racing.

Chu Zheng looked at Chu Qiao's absent-minded expression and thought she was guilty. He said coldly, "It's getting late. Let's go."

Chu Qiao: "Ah..."

Shen Chunhan came out of the kitchen and muttered, "The child just came, why are you letting him go? He should stay here tonight and sleep with his mother."

Chu Qiao looked at Chu Zheng's raised brows, which looked like he was about to explode, and quickly waved his hand: "I have a meeting with friends tonight, so I'll be leaving first."

Chu Zheng suddenly stood up and stuffed the nutritional supplements Chu Qiao had brought back into her hands: "Old man, what are you doing?"

Chu Qiao: "Dad, keep it. I'm going to pick it out for you."

Chu Zheng: "No need. I don't want anything bought with ill-gotten gains. If you withdraw, remember that we Chu family members must act with conscience."

After saying that, the door was slammed shut. Chu Qiao touched her nose which was almost hit by the door, sat at the door, and looked at her health products: What kind of temper does this old man have? He rejected her twice in a row. However, why does he still feel a little cute?
