Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi finished making the door to the rabbit enclosure, and it was almost noon. But they still hung up the curtains for the toilet and shower room before going back to make lunch.
The two cooked quickly, and the food was almost ready. Li Ling called Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling back for dinner. Hearing the call, Wang Lun looked around and saw that there were still two sinks left to cover, which he would finish in the afternoon. So he told Liu Ruoling to go back and eat first.
Lately, we've been cooking fish stew with wild vegetables, which consumes a lot of fish. Each fish weighs about a pound, and for four people, we need three fish per meal, or four if the fish are small. We add another one at noon, so that's ten fish a day. However, we've been busy building the camp these past few days and haven't really foraged for food. As a result, of the four sticks of fish hanging on the roof, only three are left. But they still have three sticks hanging with other meats, mostly wild boar, mainly from the large wild boar that Liu Ruoxi killed—that's about half of it. They also have a whole basket of wild vegetables left. They'll need to set aside some time to forage for wild vegetables for a few days and store as much as possible for winter or emergencies.
Although Wang Lun was making these plans, he didn't tell Li Ling and the others. After all, there was still enough to last for a while, so there was no rush.
The meal was ready, and the four of them began to eat. During the meal, they each recounted what they had done that morning. In general, Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi had basically finished setting up the rabbit enclosure and hung up the curtain, leaving only the gate to the yard to be completed. Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling had covered the waterways and the first pond, leaving only the two ponds to be covered.

The three girls said they understood, but the thought of being able to go out and not have to do anything anymore felt really great, after all, they hadn't been out for a long time. Liu Ruoling was alright; sometimes she could go out with Wang Lun, but Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi basically never left the camp. The worst off of them all was Liu Ruoxi; she had basically never left the camp since arriving here. The only time she left the camp was to move wild boars.
After the meal, Wang Lun told them to rest for a while before doing anything else, since there was nothing else to do now, so they could rest.
After resting for half an hour, Wang Lun was pulled back to work by the three women. After all, the three of them really wanted to go out, even if it was just to work.
Wang Lun had no choice but to join them and continue working. Li Ling and the other woman each started making a door, and then began securing it in place. Actually, calling it a door was more like calling it a fence. It was about a meter high, but because the first step was paved with stones, the stones protruded above the ground. Now, the bottom of the door blocked the way, so the door could only open outwards.
Liu Ruoling and Wang Lun each made a lid for one of the pools. First, they built a basic frame with some thick branches, then covered it tightly with smaller branches, and finally covered it with a layer of soil. Luckily, there were many trees around, making it easy to cut branches; otherwise, they don't know how much longer it would have taken to finish. Even so, it still took them more than an hour to cover both pools.
After finishing the door, Liu Ruoling ran to find Li Ling and the others. Just then, they had also finished making the door. So the three of them went together to cut grass and catch insects nearby.
Wang Lun first checked the rabbit enclosure that Li Ling and the others had made that morning. He saw that it was done exactly as planned, and that it looked good. It was just that some parts weren't dry yet, so they had to wait a while before putting the rabbits in.
After checking the rabbit enclosure, Wang Lun went to check the toilet sink, reaching in to feel the soil between the stones. It was mostly dry, and his hand barely touched it, leaving only a muddy mark. But Wang Lun didn't rush to use it; he wanted to finish his tasks first before returning to the camp.
Wang Lun turned back and grabbed a knife and a spear before heading out. He walked along the waterway, cutting down overgrown branches and weeds along the way. He also inspected the supports for the waterway, leaving nothing to repair. He reinforced or replaced anything that needed fixing. It took Wang Lun nearly two hours to reach the source of the waterway.
When Wang Lun returned to the camp, Li Ling and the others also came back. They had cut two baskets of green grass, half a basket of wild vegetables, and half a basket of hay. Li Ling planned to use the hay to make a burrow for the rabbits, and the three of them had found the wild vegetables while cutting grass, so they dug them up. Most importantly, they had caught more than ten insects, which they wrapped in a leaf. As soon as they returned, they fed the two pheasants. The two pheasants ate happily, and Li Ling and the others were happy to see them. After all, if they ate more, they would definitely lay more eggs.
After Wang Lun returned, he put down the knife and prepared to divert the water to the bathroom. The water had previously flowed out from the bathroom, but since a new bathroom was being built, the water was being diverted elsewhere.
They were just changing the waterway back to its original state. Seeing that Wang Lun was about to use the toilet, the three of them decided to come and check it out. It was inconvenient for Wang Lun to run around alone, so it was perfect timing that a few people came to do the work. Therefore, Wang Lun let Liu Ruoling go into the toilet first to watch over it, while he fetched water from above. Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi stayed behind to watch the two of them work.
After Wang Lun turned on the water, he called out, "Liu Ruoling, check if the water has entered the pool." Liu Ruoling replied, "It has, and it's not overflowing." Only then was Wang Lun relieved. He then took the two women with him to the restroom.
Upon entering the restroom, Wang Lun noticed the splash guard was still on, and there was some water in the sink. He filled the sink with water to test the effectiveness of the guard and the force of the rushing water. As soon as he removed the guard, water gushed out with considerable force. This was because Wang Lun had designed the water outlet in a triangular shape, and the sink itself was quite tall, which significantly increased the force of the rushing water.
After this experiment, it was found that the toilet was basically ready for use, just without actual testing. Wang Lun said, "Now that the toilet is usable, we won't have to go to the outside toilet anymore." He then told them to go out first, intending to try the new toilet himself. However, the three women pushed him out. Wang Lun could only shake his head and go fill in the temporary waterway.
As a result, not long after, Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi also came up, so the toilet was used by Liu Ruoling for the first time. But Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi didn't leave; they waited in the yard for Liu Ruoling to come out so they could try again. Seeing this, Wang Lun could only shake his head and continue filling the ditch.
