Chapter 183 Chinese New Year (1/2)

After my birthday, it will be New Year's Eve.

That day, after finishing their New Year's Eve dinner, Chu Xun took Li Xiyue to set off firecrackers.

"Auntie, I want to go too!" Chu Wen followed along with his short legs.

Lu Shishi called to him, "What are you doing playing with firecrackers, Chu Wen? Come back here right now."

The young couple went out to have fun, why did he go and act like a third wheel?

"Never mind him." Chu Yong pulled his wife aside and grinned mischievously. "Let him suffer a bit."

Lu Shishi glared at him and asked, "Are you even my real father?"

“Absolutely.” Chu Yong thought for a moment and took out his camera. “Let’s go out and take a look.”

Quan Yicheng took the firecrackers out of the trunk and unloaded them one by one, placing them in the yard.

Fireworks and firecrackers in that era were not as varied as in later times, but this was still an entertainment that ordinary families could only dream of.

Ordinary people can't even afford to eat and stay warm, so how could they bear to spend money on firecrackers? Even if they did buy some, it would only be a small token, not something to be carried around in a vehicle like this.

Chu Xun lit an incense stick with a match and handed it to Li Xiyue, "Dare you light it?"

How could Li Xiyue not dare? She ran over and ordered one, then ran back to Chu Xun's side. Before the firecracker went off, Chu Xun covered her ears.

Watching the fireworks bloom in the night sky, Li Xiyue's smile was incredibly radiant.

"Auntie, I want to let go too." Chu Wen grabbed Li Xiyue's clothes and shook them.

Chu Xun thought for a moment and asked Quan Yicheng, "Do you have any firecrackers that won't hurt people but are scary?"

"Yes, we do. This is called a firecracker. It's a foreign product, and we don't have it here yet. I bought it at the Friendship Store. It's just one box." Quan Yicheng took it out of his pocket. He originally intended to buy it for his child to play with.

Chu Xun took it, opened the box, took out a few, and threw them at Chu Wen's feet.

The crackling sounds terrified Chu Wen, who ran away shouting for his mother while wetting himself.

The whole city was laughing so hard they were sprawled out on their backs.

Li Xiyue was amused as well, "A Xun, why are you scaring the child?"

"Who told him to steal my wife?" Chu Xun said without changing his expression.

It was one thing for Chu Xun to scare the child, but what was even more outrageous was that Chu Yong took pictures of his son's cowardly behavior.

"What are you doing?" Lu Shishi hugged her frightened son and asked, both amused and exasperated.

Chu Yong said, "It will be very interesting to take it out and look at it when he grows up and gets married."

"Are you still young?" Lu Shishi was speechless. What kind of father would treat his son like this?

Chu Wen sobbed, “Dad, my uncle scared me, please hit him for me.”

"I can't beat your uncle, son. Good luck to you." Chu Yong ran into the house with his camera, adding before going in, "Serves you right for fighting with your uncle over a wife."

Chu Wen: "..."

This can't be his biological father!

As Lu Shishi carried her son back into the house, she laughed and scolded, "Chu Yong, you still say your son is a coward, but you're even more of a coward than him."

"There's nothing I can do. I'm a scholar, and he's a martial artist. The difference in strength is obvious, and I have to admit it," Chu Yong said with a grin.

Li Xiyue laughed so hard she couldn't stand up straight; this family was so funny.

After playing with firecrackers for a while, red envelopes were handed out inside. Li Xiyue and several children were filled with red envelopes, and they were all smiling from ear to ear.

After handing out the red envelopes, Aunt Tian took a group photo of everyone.

As the Chu family's new favorite, Li Xiyue easily secured the center position and sat next to Old Master Chu.

After the family photo was taken, the New Year's bell rang, and the family had a late-night snack before leaving.

"Happy New Year." Chu Xun escorted Li Xiyue back into the house and gave her a hug.

Li Xiyue replied with a smile, "Ah Xun, Happy New Year."

"Are you tired? Get some rest." Chu Xun kissed her forehead.

Li Xiyue stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips.

Chu Xun closed his eyes, not daring to look into her eyes, afraid that he would lose control.
