Ten minutes later, Geralt had a smile on his face, holding two fist-sized nuggets of gold in his hands, and was very happy.
Although the nest of the human-faced monster bird was filled with rotten meat, bird droppings and bones, and smelled worse than a sewer, the white wolf searched skillfully and found two natural gems in addition to the two nuggets of gold and some coins.
Wayne did not choose the two more valuable gold nuggets wrapped in unknown excrement, but took the two shining gems.
This made Geralt like him even more. As a veteran who was good at eating, drinking, gambling and whoring, although he earned much more than ordinary people, he was not as good as ordinary farmers in spending money.
Demon hunters do dirty and dangerous work every day, and are discriminated against by many unruly people. They are also mutants, so they are generally under great psychological pressure. In order to relieve their own pressure, almost every demon hunter is a frequent visitor to taverns, brothels, and casinos.
It is not surprising that the wages earned by risking one's life are spent in a few days, and most people live in poverty.
As a modern man, Wayne actually doesn't care about these small amounts of money. He has a flexible moral bottom line. In the future, as long as he is willing, whether it is robbing the rich to help the poor, or robbing the robbing thieves, or investing in business, the money he earns will definitely not be comparable to that of the witcher's commission.
Instead, it is the brothers in the Wolf School and other highly skilled demon hunters that he cares about.
In this medieval magic age where the strong prey on the weak, only by mastering power and uniting those who have power can you resist danger and control your own destiny.
After crossing the lake, the two walked along a mountain road towards the back mountain. After walking for more than ten minutes, when a huge cave appeared in the distance, Geralt slowed down and said to Wayne behind him:
"Wayne, there is a Cyclops in the cave ahead. Many demon hunter apprentices died at the hands of this monster named Old Spearhead."
Seeing that Wayne was a little surprised, Geralt added:
"This is part of the final trial."
"Apprentices who take part in the trial must find a way to pass through this cave guarded by a Cyclops."
"In fact, Cyclops are dumber than trolls and move in a clumsy manner. They are very powerful and spend most of their time sleeping in caves."
"As long as the apprentices are quiet enough and don't make any noise, they can pass through the cave safely."
Wayne nodded, thought for a moment and asked, "Should we kill this Cyclops this time?"
Geralt paused, looked up at Wayne, pondered for a few seconds, and said, "Wayne, since we are going to team up to complete the mission in the future, we should get to know each other better."
"I have always believed that monsters with intelligence are intelligent creatures just like humans, and there is no distinction between high and low."
"As long as he doesn't endanger the safety of others, I won't actively hurt him."
"I hope you'll agree with me on this."
Seeing White Wolf's frank conversation, Wayne also smiled sincerely and said:
"You know, Geralt, I am a half-elf, a non-human race, and now I have become an alien in the eyes of others, a demon hunter."
Hearing this, Geralt looked at Wayne deeply, nodded gently, then took out two bottles of white demon hunter potion from his waist bag, put one of them in Wayne's hand, and said:
"This is a cat potion. It can enhance our dark vision and allow us to see things in the dark."
"Just follow me now. Be careful and don't make any noise. We will sneak out of the cave quietly and don't wake up Old Spearhead."
Wayne nodded. His agility was higher than that of the average demon hunter, so stealth missions like this were not difficult for him.
Soon, after the two drank the cat potion, they walked into the cave one after the other.
After so many years, Geralt seemed to be quite familiar with the route in the cave. He led Wayne and moved slowly along the wall. They sneaked in the dark for five or six minutes before they climbed up to another high ground through a platform.
As they moved forward, a huge snoring sound continued to linger in their ears, and became louder and louder as they moved further forward.
However, Geralt ignored the source of the snoring, but quickly led Wayne along the wall and walked for another five minutes before finally finding the exit of the cave.
Before leaving the cave, out of curiosity, Wayne turned his head and looked towards the source of the sound.
I saw an ugly giant, about four or five meters long, lying on a flat ground with a huge wooden stick on his back. He was wearing only simple animal skins, with one hand on his belly button and the other hand stuffed in his trouser pocket. He was snoring comfortably and sleeping soundly.
Seeing this scene, Wayne felt happy. Perhaps in the mind of this Cyclops, those witcher apprentices were the monsters who broke into his house and tried to hurt him.
Now, no new witcher apprentices have come here for decades, allowing this guy to live a stable life.
After watching for a few seconds, Wayne followed Geralt out of the cave, and when his eyes adjusted to the sunlight outside, a strange scene appeared before his eyes.
They saw five tall and strange creatures made of huge rocks gathered around a big pot on a flat ground a few dozen meters away from them. They were eating food and playing around. They could even hear some strange singing, as if they were holding a celebration.
They looked ugly and their movements were slow, like drunk fat men. Although their words were stuttering and unclear, it was certain that they were human language.
Geralt, who was walking in front, turned around and made a shushing gesture to him, and whispered:
"This is a tribe of trolls. They are monsters that can barely communicate and are considered an intelligent race."
"Don't talk nonsense later. I will negotiate with them."
"These guys have lived here for hundreds of years. They are quite familiar with us demon hunters. Let's try our best to avoid conflicts."
"There are a lot of them. If they fight, we might get hurt."
