Chapter 14

On Saturday, the weather was not good. The sky was gloomy and it seemed that a rainstorm was brewing.

Gu Qingyue got up and looked at the dark sky outside. She sighed and said, "It looks like it's going to rain."

"It's supposed to rain heavily." Shu Miaomiao put a hand on Gu Qingyue's shoulder and turned her head to look at her carefully. Her lips were stained with red lipstick, and her deep eyelids were drooping. "Are you wearing makeup?"

"Well, I'm going out soon."

Gu Qingyue left the balcony and turned into the dormitory.

Shu Miaomiao followed in and asked curiously: "Who are you going to meet? Let me guess, is it Song Xiaoshu?"

"Congratulations, you guessed wrong." Gu Qingyue smiled slyly, "I went to see my seventh aunt's play."

"Oh." Shu Miaomiao looked a little disappointed.

At one o'clock in the afternoon, Gu Hengsheng sent a message.

[Five minutes later, go downstairs.]

It was raining heavily outside. Gu Qingyue took a folding umbrella. Shu Miaomiao was taking a lunch break. She quietly closed the door, walked through the corridor and went downstairs.

Through the glass windows of the stairwell, you can see that the rain is getting heavier. The tiled floor of the stairs is wet with water marks and a humid steam.

Gu Qingyue pushed open the glass door, and the wind and rain blew in her face. She opened her umbrella and held it in front of her, revealing a pair of round almond eyes.

A black car drove into view. It was the Fokker.

Gu Qingyue got into the car and casually put the umbrella under her feet. She closed the car door, blocking out the wind and rain outside.

The heater was on in the car. Gu Hengsheng was wearing a white shirt with a round-neck beige sweater on the outside. The simple colors suited him very well, and he looked gentle and steady.

Gu Qingyue felt that the feeling he gave people was like a cup of warm water placed in green grass, peaceful and comfortable.

The bottom of the car was covered with a soft brown carpet. She wondered what it would feel like to step on it barefoot. Her eyes shifted slightly. The brown carpet where the umbrella was placed was soaked. She pursed her lips in annoyance and said, "I have bad news for you."

"What?" He looked confused.

"The umbrella wet the carpet," she said.

Gu Hengsheng laughed and glanced at her sideways: "Is that all?"

"Yeah." Gu Qingyue looked at his back, "You're not angry?"

"Should I be angry?" Gu Hengsheng asked.

Gu Qingyue heaved a sigh of relief and said, "Then I'm relieved."

Gu Hengsheng shook his head and smiled.

Because of the rain, the traffic conditions on the road were very bad.

I had to stop the car almost every time I came to a traffic light and wait until I got to the theater. Fortunately, I didn't exceed the time limit.

There was a large flow of people at the theater entrance, and it was obvious that Gu Sang's drama troupe was quite famous.

Gu Hengsheng put away his umbrella. Gu Qingyue followed him and asked, "Have you ever seen Qi Gu's play before?"

"No, I was abroad when she was working in the troupe," he said.

Gu Qingyue said softly, "Oh."

The two entered the theater. There were already quite a few people sitting in the audience. There were red chairs in the middle and blue chairs on both sides. Obviously, the area where the red chairs were placed was the best viewing area.

Gu Qingyue followed Gu Hengsheng to the fifth row, the best viewing area. Just as her back touched the chair, Gu Sang sent a WeChat message asking if they had arrived at the theater.

Gu Qingyue held the mobile phone, the light from the phone screen illuminated her face, covering her face with a layer of soft light. A strand of hair fell between her lips. Gu Qingyue blew lightly, and the hair gently fell from her lips.

The lights above dimmed, and the curtain on the stage slowly shrank to the sides.

Today's play is Chekhov's "Platonov", which tells the story of the male protagonist Platonov, who lives a depressed and negative life and is entangled in the emotions of four women.

Gu Qingyue watched the show absent-mindedly until it ended. The only thing she remembered was the line, "Hamlet is afraid of dreaming, and I am afraid of living."

She suddenly looked at Gu Hengsheng, frowned, and said, "Are you afraid of life?"

People were moving around, so Gu Hengsheng couldn't hear clearly and asked, "What did you say?"

Gu Qingyue shook her head: "Nothing."

Gu Sang called Qingyue and asked her, "Have you and Third Brother left?"

Gu Qingyue held her phone in one hand. The noise was so loud that she had difficulty hearing it. She followed closely and glanced back at Gu Hengsheng: "He hasn't left yet."

"Oh, then let's have dinner together later. I'll introduce someone to you."

Gu Qingyue hung up the phone, stopped and went to see Gu Hengsheng.

Gu Hengsheng raised his eyebrows and said, "What?"

"Seventh Aunt said that we should wait for her for a while." Gu Qingyue explained.

Gu Qingyue happened to be standing at the entrance of the passage. Someone behind her was about to come down. Gu Hengsheng raised his hand and held her arm, leading her towards him. Gu Qingyue didn't stand firmly and took two steps back, her back pressed against his chest. The two of them were very close in an instant. His warm body temperature instantly embraced her, and Gu Qingyue subconsciously stood up straight.

An inexplicable feeling of heat rose in her ears. Gu Qingyue lowered her eyes, let out a sigh, and raised her hand to touch her hot ears.

Gu Sang introduced someone to you. He was a foreign-looking man with a handsome face, deep eye sockets, and a pair of charming eyes. Foreigners tend to look mature, but Gu Qingyue couldn't tell his age.

Gu Sang took the man's hand and smiled, "My boyfriend, Andreas."

Andreas reached out to shake hands with Gu Hengsheng, looked up and down at Gu Qingyue who was standing next to Gu Hengsheng, leaned close to Gu Sang's ear and said something in German.

Gu Qingyue didn't understand, but vaguely felt that it might be related to her.

Gu Sang had a strange look on his face and replied with a funny tone.

Andreas smiled apologetically: "Sorry."

Gu Qingyue had no choice but to ask Gu Hengsheng for help. She tugged at Gu Hengsheng's sleeve. Gu Hengsheng looked down at her. Gu Qingyue whispered, "What are they saying? I don't understand."

Gu Hengsheng glanced at her and slowly shook his head. Gu Qingyue thought that he didn't understand German either.

Gu Hengsheng drove the car and took a few people to eat.

Gu Sang and Gu Qingyue sat in the back seat, and Andreas sat in the passenger seat. Andreas spoke humorously, and there was a lot of laughter in the car.

Gu Sang asked Gu Qingyue: "How do you feel today?"

"This is my first time watching a play, so I'd better not show off in front of you."

Gu Sang smiled.

Gu Qingyue asked again: "Do you have any performances coming up?"

"Well, we're going to Yanjiang tomorrow."

"Are you in such a hurry?" Gu Qingyue frowned slightly.

By the time they finished dinner, it was past seven. Since Gu Sang had a flight to catch the next day, they didn't stay too late.

Gu Qingyue sat back in the passenger seat. She rolled down the window a little, and the night wind blew a strand of hair on her cheek. She raised her hand to hold it down. Her cheeks were slightly red, and her eyes were slightly hazy. Because she had been drinking, her lips were bright red, like a flower in full bloom, waiting to be picked.

At the banquet, Andreas heard that she could drink quite well, so he coaxed her into a few drinks. Gu Qingyue, in a fit of emotion, also drank a lot. Now she felt a little dizzy, probably a little drunk.

She looked at the street scene outside the window for a while, then withdrew her gaze with boredom, looked at the man in the driver's seat, and mumbled, "I seem a little drunk?"

Gu Hengsheng tilted his head to look at her, observed her carefully for a few seconds, and asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"

"No, I just want to sleep." She frowned slightly.

"Rest for a while, I'll call you when we're there," he said.

Gu Qingyue nodded softly, leaned against the window, closed her eyes, but did not fall asleep. The car slowly stopped, and at the same time, she opened her eyes.

She glanced out the window and saw some classmates passing by the dormitory from time to time, and some of them glanced over here.

Gu Qingyue opened the car door and got out.

Gu Hengsheng held the steering wheel with one hand, and caught a glimpse of the girl turning back out of the corner of his eye.

Gu Hengsheng rolled down the passenger window. Gu Qingyue put her hands on the window, leaned forward, and looked at him intently: "If you have time someday, can you make me borscht again?"

Gu Hengsheng stared at her.

Gu Qingyue's heart was beating fast. The moment she waited for his answer, she seemed to be back to the day when she checked her college entrance examination scores. It was also like she was standing on the edge of a cliff, with life and death hanging by a thread.

The rain had stopped long ago by now, and the dim yellow light from the street lamps was reflected in a shallow pool of water, like golden shredded paper scattered on the ground.

In the long night, the smell of grass after the rain wafted over, and Gu Qingyue sobered up a little. Just now, under the influence of alcohol, she asked impulsively. He did not answer for a long time. Gu Qingyue closed her eyelashes, bit the corner of her lip helplessly, and was about to speak to save herself.

He relaxed and said, "Okay."
