His sister seems to have a side that he doesn't know about.
Gu Lianzhou glanced at the tightly closed bathroom door, his suspicions and vigilance growing. He typed a few lines of code, copied the document, and sent it to a confidential address.
He took out his phone again and made a call.
"Did you see what I sent you?" He frowned as he listened to the reply on the other end of the phone. "You said this folder was locked with special code?"
What is it that's so confidential?
How could she know these things?
He tapped his fingers unconsciously, "How long will it take to decode this folder?"
"A few days? Okay, I'll wait for you."
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped.
Gu Lianzhou erased the traces, closed the laptop, and heard the rustling sound of wiping a body coming from inside. For some reason, a sense of unease crept into his heart.
Is she really in control?
Driven by intense unease, Gu Lianzhou pushed back his chair, got up, and quickly returned to his room. He opened the bedside drawer, took out a small black medicine bottle, unscrewed it, and poured the medicine into his palm to examine it closely.
...
After drying her hair and changing into her pajamas, Shen Zhiyi came out to find the room empty.
"Brother?" She circled the house but couldn't find him.
She frowned and looked at the desk.
The pen has shifted.
The seat angle has also been altered.
She stopped in her tracks.
"Looking for me?" A deep, cold male voice suddenly came from the doorway.
Shen Zhiyi suddenly turned her head and saw Gu Lianzhou standing at the door against the light. His tall figure almost blocked the entire door frame. He was dark and gloomy, like a messenger of hell shrouded in shadow. His expression was completely obscured, and she could not see his face.
The voice was just very cold.
Just like when she first met him, it was cold.
Shen Zhiyi's heart skipped a beat.
"Where did my brother go?"
Gu Lianzhou paused for a moment, then strode closer, his sharp face gradually becoming clear.
The sense of oppression grew stronger and stronger.
"Go find this." He shook the black medicine bottle in his hand, his voice indifferent and flat, yet more terrifying than any roar. "When did I start changing what I give you every day to vitamins?"
He suddenly leaned down, grabbed her chin tightly, and forced her to look up and meet his gaze.
His deep, dark eyes were like two gushing wells, filled with chilling intent.
"When did you find out?" He gritted his teeth, forcing out the question, his breath hot on her face, his anger barely contained. "Hmm?"
"All this time, your obedience and docility have been an act for me, haven't they?"
Shen Zhiyi bit her lip, her breathing became rapid, and her eyes instantly reddened.
"Speak!" Gu Lianzhou's temples bulged with veins, his face filled with the anger of someone who had been fooled. "Shen Zhiyi, how many more things are you hiding from me?!"
"Is it fun to lie to me? Huh?!"
He gritted his teeth and roared, his grip tightening.
"say!"
Shen Zhiyi felt a sharp pain from his pinch, and tears quickly welled up and rolled down her cheeks.
"Drugs?" Her voice trembled, unable to believe it. "You drugged me?"
She gripped his wrist, trembling like a broken doll in his palm.
Large tears fell like raindrops onto his hand, leaving a wet trail between his thumb and forefinger.
"Brother... what did you give me to eat?"
She seemed to be struggling to breathe, and broke down, saying, "So all this time, all the kindness you've shown me... teaching me... spending time with me, even kissing me... was just to control me?"
"It's all fake...?"
Her tears flowed even more fiercely, her shoulders trembled, and the light in her eyes gradually faded, turning into a despairing emptiness. She even bit her lip until it bled, yet she kept muttering, "So... getting close to me, taking care of me, was all just to use me..."
"It's all fake... fake..."
You don't like me at all!
Gu Lianzhou hadn't expected her reaction. His brows furrowed deeply, and he suppressed the stinging pain in his heart, gritting his teeth as he asked, "What are you acting out now?"
The pressure on his hands unconsciously loosened.
Her tears inexplicably irritated him, and even made him feel a bit self-loathing.
Shen Zhiyi forcefully pried his hands open.
Her face was deathly pale. She wiped her face haphazardly with the back of her hand, but the more she wiped, the more tears she shed.
"Since you don't believe me, and since you hate me so much, I'll just leave! From now on, I'll never get in your way again!"
Her shoulders trembled, and her long hair clung to the wet patches on her cheeks, making her look exceptionally pitiful.
But she somehow found the strength to push him aside and run towards the door.
His frail figure swayed and trembled in the dim light, like a lost lamb, forlorn and helpless.
Gu Lianzhou's heart clenched.
"Shen Zhiyi!" he shouted sternly.
Shen Zhiyi, however, fled even faster, running barefoot downstairs like a startled bird.
