The morning light shone down, illuminating the tall, slender figure lying on the sofa.
Bo Xu slowly opened his eyes.
The high fever had been brought under control by the medication, and his mind gradually returned to clarity.
His gaze swept around the room.
It landed on the smooth, brand-new sofa back.
There was no one inside.
So was everything before just a hallucination for him?
He recalled the obscene and erotic fantasies he had during his high fever, and how he had pinned her down on the sofa and kissed her countless times...
Bo Xu reached out and touched his lips.
He sat up, feeling a bit of a headache.
Her pajamas slipped down.
His gaze swept across the area, then immediately froze.
New?
With her slender fingers, Bo Xu picked up the brand-new pajamas and suddenly turned her head to look at the coffee table.
On the cold marble countertop, there was an electronic thermometer and a cup of used fever-reducing medicine.
His eyes widened in shock. He picked up his phone and quickly swiped through the call log.
Upon seeing the name "Chen Zhiyi" listed first in the recent call log, his thin lips pursed tightly.
He called her.
Could it be that all of this... wasn't a dream?
Bo Xu paused slightly, then dialed a number for Qin Luo.
Is Shen Zhiyi at the company?
Qin Luo said, "Zhiyi took the day off today. She said she's moving in the next couple of days."
Bo Xu: "Understood."
"Please reschedule my afternoon meeting for tomorrow."
He hung up the phone and glanced at the thermometer on the table.
Shen Zhiyi lay on the bed in her rented room, a fever patch on her forehead, poking at Xiao Xu's portrait on the suspended island, and lamented, "It's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault..."
She never expected that her words would actually come true, and she developed a fever.
Xiao Xu: "Are you feeling better, sister? Did you take your medicine? Is someone taking care of you?"
"Why did you suddenly get sick..."
Shen Zhiyi blushed slightly as she thought about the cause of her illness.
But she didn't dare tell him when he was 19.
He simply said, "What else could it be? It's all because you, at 29, have been exploiting me too much, which is why I got sick."
“That old man is no human being,” Xiao Xu said. “If I were by my sister’s side, I would definitely take good care of her and make sure she doesn’t get sick.”
"Is it hot, sister?"
"I wish I could hold my sister. It's so cold here, and my body is freezing. I could help cool her down."
Shen Zhiyi thought to herself, "Your embrace isn't cold at all..."
Hotter than a rolling stone...
Hard and hot...
As she thought about it, her cheeks flushed even more.
No, I can't think about it anymore...
My head is spinning...
She tore off the fever-reducing patch and was about to replace it when the doorbell rang.
Shen Zhiyi thought the medicine she had ordered had finally arrived. She put on her slippers and got up, feeling dizzy, to open the door.
She opened the door and saw Bo Xu standing outside.
He seemed to have fully recovered, wearing an open camel coat over a black fitted turtleneck cashmere sweater, looking both noble and elegant.
She looked completely different from how sickly she was yesterday.
Looking into her eyes, they were no longer confused, but filled with intense scrutiny and aggression.
Shen Zhiyi felt her body burning hot when she met his gaze.
"Mr. Bo?!"
She instinctively took a step back. "What brings you here?"
Bo Xu's gaze swept over her flushed face, and he reached out and pressed his hand against her forehead.
"Shen Zhiyi, do you have a fever?"
He suppressed his deep worry, took a step closer, stared intently at her, and asked in a commanding tone, "Tell me, how did you get sick?"
He hoped she would tell him that what happened yesterday was not an illusion or a figment of his imagination.
Rather, it actually happened—
He kissed her.
And she never refused.
