“Just like you, I’m spending the New Year with my mom,” Li Peiyu replied calmly.
"Doesn't he not have a mother?" Wang Boyang asked, his face filled with disbelief.
“They just found us out of the blue. We told him to go to Country Y,” Li Peiyu explained.
"So he's going to Country Y? When is he leaving?" Wang Boyang frowned, anxiously asking, his voice unconsciously rising a few decibels.
"They said they're already at the airport."
As soon as Li Peiyu finished speaking, Wang Boyang pushed open the door and rushed out like the wind.
He hailed a taxi and kept urging the driver to speed up.
The image of Gu Yan about to leave alone at the airport kept flashing through Wang Boyang's mind, and he was extremely anxious. He wished he could fly to Gu Yan's side immediately.
Wang Boyang had only one thought in his mind: he had to catch Gu Yan's plane and couldn't let him face it alone.
He wanted to protect Gu Yan, whenever he was vulnerable.
Gu Yan suddenly appeared at his house that day because he was saddened by this matter.
He regretted not asking sooner. How painful it must have been for him to keep such a big thing to himself for so many days.
The worst part was that he kicked Gu Yan out that day. Thinking about this, Wang Boyang's heart ached.
He called Gu Yan more than a dozen times along the way, but no one answered. He became even more anxious.
Finally arriving at the airport, Wang Boyang's eyes darted anxiously through the crowd, searching for Gu Yan's figure.
He didn't even notice the fine beads of sweat on his forehead as he kept running towards the various waiting areas.
Outside, a huge plane is roaring as it takes off.
Wang Boyang watched intently as the plane gradually ascended into the air.
Gu Yan is probably on that plane, and it has already flown away because he didn't answer the phone.
Gu Yan has to face the person who abandoned him alone.
Moreover, Gu Yan was silently grieving at this time, but no one was there to comfort him.
The thought of these things felt like a thousand sharp blades piercing his heart, causing him immense pain, as if the whole world was collapsing in an instant.
He couldn't bear to see him suffer even the slightest harm.
Finally, turning his head, he saw Gu Yan in a corner.
Gu Yan sat there quietly, his eyes filled with confusion and unease, his hand tightly gripping the plane ticket.
Wang Boyang's eyes lit up instantly, and he rushed over in three steps at a time.
When Gu Yan saw someone in front of him, he looked up, and the gloom on his face was instantly replaced by surprise.
Wang Boyang stopped in front of him, panting heavily.
His breathing was rapid, and his chest heaved violently.
"Why are you here?" Gu Yan's voice was filled with disbelief and barely concealed excitement.
Without saying a word, Wang Boyang snatched the plane ticket from Gu Yan's hand and ran towards the ticket counter.
Gu Yan was bewildered by his sudden action, so he quickly picked up his bag, pulled his suitcase, and chased after him.
"What are you doing, Wang Boyang?" Gu Yan shouted loudly behind him, his voice full of doubt.
Ignoring Gu Yan's shouts behind him, Wang Boyang ran wildly, with only one thought in his mind: he had to catch this plane.
Finally, he ran to the ticket office.
Wang Boyang slammed the plane ticket heavily on the counter with a "bang," and said breathlessly, "Hello, are there any tickets left for this flight?"
The staff member glanced at the ticket and replied very politely, "First class is sold out."
"Economy class." Wang Boyang's voice carried a hint of urgency.
"Yes, we have more." The staff member gave a standard smile. "Please show your ID card."
Wang Boyang frantically rummaged through his backpack for his ID card, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead, but he couldn't find it anywhere. "Damn it, where did I put it?"
Gu Yan hurriedly grabbed the bag from Wang Boyang's hand and helped him search. They found the ID card in the outermost compartment. "Isn't this it?"
"Oh," Wang Boyang said with a sigh of relief, and quickly handed his ID card to the staff.
But Gu Yan stopped him.
Gu Yan gripped the ID card, his brows furrowed, somewhat incredulous. "You...you're coming with me?"
He couldn't believe that Wang Boyang would actually be willing to go to Y country with him.
“Yes,” Wang Boyang nodded without hesitation, his eyes firm and determined.
Did you bring your passport?
Wang Boyang was stunned, as if he had been doused with a bucket of cold water.
He intended to go home, so he wouldn't be carrying his passport with him. Besides, his passport was at his home in H city.
Gu Yan humbly and politely said to the staff, "I won't buy it, thank you."
Gu Yan said to Wang Boyang, "I appreciate your kindness, but I'll go by myself."
Wang Boyang grabbed Gu Yan's arm and said, "Come home with me to get your passports. We'll go to Y country together tomorrow."
Gu Yan said, "No, your family is waiting for you to celebrate the New Year."
"Anyway, I won't let you go alone."
Looking at the stubborn and dazed Wang Boyang, Gu Yan felt a warm current run through his heart.
"No need for that, I'm not a child."
"Don't force yourself." After saying that, Wang Boyang forcibly refunded Gu Yan's ticket.
"Let's go home and get our passports."
"Okay." Gu Yan's melancholy dissipated, replaced by a bright smile.
Afterwards, the two hurriedly hailed a taxi and rushed to the high-speed rail station.
Throughout the journey, Wang Boyang was visibly annoyed and couldn't help but say, "I called you so many times just now, and you didn't answer a single one."
Gu Yan said, "My phone was in my bag, and the ringtone was too quiet, so I didn't hear it."
"Can you turn the phone volume up to the maximum in the future? I'm in a hurry..." The words "I'm so anxious" were on the tip of his tongue, but he didn't say them. Instead, he said, "It's causing too much trouble."
"What could possibly be delayed? Do you think I'm like you, with so many work calls?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Boyang fell silent, but his expression turned slightly unpleasant.
Next, the two boarded the high-speed train and sped all the way to H City without incident.
As soon as he stepped out of the high-speed rail station, Wang Boyang's eyes quickly scanned the area, and he soon saw his Uncle Wang waiting for him with a big smile.
Wang Boyang led Gu Yan into Uncle Wang's car.
As soon as he got in the car, Wang Boyang asked impatiently, "Uncle Wang, is my dad home?"
"I won't be here right now, but I'll be back tonight to welcome you back."
"Oh," Wang Boyang responded, paused for a moment, then turned to Gu Yan and said, "Could you stay with me in H City for one night? We're leaving from H City tomorrow, is that alright?"
“Okay.” Gu Yan nodded without hesitation.
Upon hearing Gu Yan's agreement, Wang Boyang's face instantly lit up with a bright smile, his eyes gleaming with joy.
He said excitedly, "Great! I knew you would agree."
The car drove smoothly on the road, and Wang Boyang's mood was as bright as the sunshine outside the car window.
He began to enthusiastically introduce the beautiful scenery and delicious food of H City to Gu Yan.
Wang Boyang said with some regret, "There are so many great places in H City, but unfortunately we don't have enough time to take you around."
"Next time, if there's a chance, let's come together again."
"Um."
