Way out

Way out

In a previous life that seemed like a dream, Yuan Ming sat alone on the throne, with the weak and powerless Prime Minister Wen Cunxiao sitting below him.

The wine glass rolled to the side. He knelt on the ground, his pupils dilated, blood flowing from the corner of his mouth, and every word he said was tearful: "Your Majesty, why do you do this?"

Why would he do this? Yuan Ming held the medicine bottle with his broken fingers. Inside the bottle were pills, and with a light touch, they turned into powder.

Upon learning that Wen Cunxiao had secretly helped Yuan Zi harm her, Yuan Ming began to slowly prepare the poison. She patiently tested it on several ministers, observing their painful expressions. After all, taking it once or twice wouldn't kill them, so it was perfect for dealing with a group of noisy rats.

Wen Cunxiao should have died quietly from vomiting blood in a few days, but Yuan Ming felt that the time was too unbearable.

She originally wanted to chop off Wen Cunxiao's head with a knife, but then she thought, this poison has been in use for so long, but no life has been taken by it, which is such a pity.

So Yuan Ming poured half a bottle of wine into the wine given to Wen Cunxiao, enough for Wen Cunxiao to see the King of Hell.

Wen Cunxiao's eyes widened, as if an invisible hand was squeezing his throat, choking him. Even so, he struggled to crawl to Yuan Ming's feet, staring blankly at Yuan Ming's ghostly face, as if he had a thousand words to say.

Yuan Ming leaned closer to him, curious about what his last words would be. A curse on himself? A concern for his family? Or perhaps a lament for the ending?

Wen Cunxiao's pale lips opened and closed slightly, but Yuan Ming heard him say, "I am guilty of you."

These words seemed to have drained all the life out of him. He couldn't catch his breath, and his body fell stiffly down the stairs, never to get up again.

You feel ashamed of me, Yuan Ming sneered, "As if I can forgive you just by saying that." She kicked Wen Cunxiao's body away and limped to the door of the hall.

Outside the hall, the moon is bright and the stars are sparse, the sky is clear, and there are occasional lights dotting the sky.

"This is clearly the human world, but I feel it is even more desolate than the wilderness."

His past life took sad steps and stumbled into Yuan Ming's heart in this life.

Yuan Ming gently stroked the medicine bottle. The pills inside were no different from her previous life, but she was the different one.

Why had she suddenly had the idea to ask Rulan to come up with a name for this little pill? Perhaps in a past life, she had been proud of creating this little pill. After all, she had read countless medical books and expended countless efforts to come up with it. However, back then, she must have felt a bit more disgusted with her creation.

"Yuan Ming, Yuan Ming!"

The sounds of worry woke Yuan Ming from his memories. When he raised his eyes, he saw Rulan's worried expression.

"Did I say something wrong?" Rulan slowly moved her body and leaned against the door, like a child who had done something wrong.

"No!" Yuan Ming replied hastily, "You're well aware of my problem. I'm just imagining things, right? I'm just imagining things."

Yuan Ming explained with gestures and excitement, which made Rulan laugh in the end.

Yuan Ming breathed a sigh of relief. She also found that she seemed to be easily lost in memories. In her memories, she was immersed in the scene, as if she was experiencing all the emotions again. When her thoughts returned to her present life, the emotions of her past life affected her calm lines and tightened, and she frantically tried to regain control of her body.

Yuan Ming knew that she had never completely escaped from her past life. The madness buried deep in her heart was a stigma, telling her all the time: You have never truly escaped from pain, nor have you ever truly been reborn.

Yuan Ming paused and said, "Rulan, I have to go out for a while. Remember to leave the door to the yard open tonight. I've been climbing over the wall for a few days and I've almost forgotten what it feels like to go through the main gate."

"Are you going to poison me?"

"Almost, but I want to hand someone a knife first."

Rulan tilted her head, her face full of confusion, but when she thought about Yuan Ming's deeds, she would never be the one who suffered.

But Rulan couldn't help but start to worry again, muttering, "You have to be careful out there. I heard from my master before that before doing anything big, you should check if your personal belongings are damaged. If they are, don't do it. There's a high probability that something will go wrong. You should check it out too."

Yuan Ming smiled softly, put away the medicine bottle and ran straight to the courtyard gate, saying in a clear voice: "Before I do something, if my personal belongings are broken, I will smash them to pieces. Knowing that the master is going to do something and still breaking it, it is a lack of tact."

"Hey, can we still do this?"

In the blink of an eye, Yuan Ming disappeared.

Rulan shook her head: "They came and went in a hurry."

After Rulan put away the herbs, she followed Yuan Ming's instructions before leaving and pretended to close the gate, but in fact the bolt was only lightly covered.

At this time, Rulan looked through the crack in the door and found a guy who needed to be sent away.

"General Zhong, why are you here?" Rulan asked hypocritically.

Zhong Yingqi answered sincerely, "Um, I wonder where His Highness has gone? My words a few days ago angered His Highness, so I came here today to apologize."

Rulan rolled her eyes and said, "General Zhong, please wait a moment away from the door. I'll go call Yuan Ming."

Zhong Yingqi did as he was told.

Rulan ran into the room, took out the wooden board that Yuan Ming had used to smash the door before, and threw it towards the door with all her strength.

With a clang, the wide board hit the wooden door. The sound was loud and intimidating, and with a little skill, the wooden door would not be broken. This was the method Yuan Ming taught her specifically to deal with Zhong Yingqi.

Zhong Yingqi, standing a few feet from the door, couldn't help but twitch his eyes when he heard the noise. A few seconds later, Rulan began to persuade "Yuan Ming" to calm down, feeling a sense of pride at having finally managed to stop a fight.

Rulan walked to the door and said to Zhong Yingqi through the wooden door, "General, you heard it too. Yuan Ming has been taking medicine to reduce her internal heat recently. She is very angry and irritable. Her illness is really difficult to treat. Please go back first."

Zhong Yingqi took a deep look at her, and Rulan suddenly became nervous. Fortunately, Zhong Yingqi just took a look, then stood up and said goodbye and left.

Rulan breathed a sigh of relief as her heart, which had been hanging in the air, finally settled down. Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the wall - Yuan Ming came back so soon!

Rulan looked up with joy, and was petrified on the spot.

The man who climbed over the wall sat loosely on it, kicking the wall, da, da, da, again and again, hitting Rulan's heart.

Rulan forced a smile that was uglier than crying and asked, "General Zhong, will the view be more beautiful if you sit up there?"

Zhong Yingqi showed the same look he had when he first met Rulan, and said without mercy, "Hasn't His Highness brought you up here? I heard that His Highness has been climbing over the wall quite frequently lately."

After saying this, he tilted his head and smiled, full of sarcasm.

Yuan Ming always suspected that Rulan was on Zhong Yingqi's side. This was a huge injustice for Rulan. Rulan never forgot the way Zhong Yingqi interrogated her at the beginning.

In the dim tent, Zhong Yingqi sat alone on the general's chair, like an unshakable mountain, looking at her with cold eyes. His deep and cold expression scared Rulan so much that she trembled.

Even more infuriating was that after the interrogation, he changed his face again, acting like a scoundrel, and took advantage of Yuan Ming's coma to get her to talk. He was so unpredictable that it was hard to predict him. If Zhong Yingqi hadn't become "normal" after Yuan Ming woke up, she might have hated him even more than Yuan Ming hated Doctor Jiang.

"Miss Rulan, please take me to see His Highness Yuan Ming."

Not a request but a statement.

Go see Yuan Ming? That's a difficult thing to do.

Rulan said embarrassedly, "General Zhong, why don't we just wait here for her to come back?"

Zhong Yingqi: "..."

Outside Zhang He's mansion, Yuan Ming climbed over the high wall with ease and happened to run into Fang'er hiding in the corner.

"Is that corner your home? You stay there all day." Yuan Ming brushed the dust off his hands and pulled Fang'er up.

Fang'er was crying, and Yuan Ming found that her hands were covered with bruises.

"Being beaten again?" Yuan Ming said in a low voice.

Fang'er didn't answer, but just cried silently.

Yuan Ming's brows were tinged with annoyance, and the madness in his heart was about to burst, and his face was unfriendly. Fang'er saw this, her eyes widened, and her feet involuntarily moved back, each step was accompanied by obvious tremors.

"Come here." Yuan Ming said.

But Fang'er was like a frightened quail, doing nothing but trembling.

Yuan Ming suppressed her madness and suddenly felt sad for Fang'er. She investigated Fang'er and would not listen to her one-sided story. So based on the few words Fang'er said, she traced the clues and found Fang'er's parents.

Fang'er was indeed a commoner girl that Zhang He had forcibly abducted. Seeing her beautiful appearance and graceful figure, coupled with her poverty, Zhang He easily abducted her to his cruel golden house, where he would occasionally pluck her and then leave her to fend for herself. And Zhang He, that bastard, enjoyed the pleasure of controlling these weak women, which was truly disgusting.

Yuan Ming said in a cold voice, "There's a dilapidated house in the southeast corner of Mucheng. Inside is an elderly couple named Wang. The neighbors call them beggars and say their daughter was kidnapped a year ago."

Yuan Ming looked at Fang'er coldly and asked, "Is that you, Wang Fang'er?"

The moment she heard the news from her parents, Fang'er could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground, tears streaming down her face like crazy, her eyelids red and swollen from crying.

"Crying your eyes blind won't change anything. In the end, your parents will ask me about you, and I'll say you cried blind, your family will be sad, and your enemies will laugh."

Upon hearing this, Fang'er looked up at Yuan Ming. Yuan Ming finally showed his first smile after climbing over the wall, but the smile was cold, with only a few fleeting traces of pity.

"Want to know about your parents?"

Fang'er nodded hurriedly. Yuan Ming squatted down and looked at Fang'er at eye level.

"Your father wanted to come find you, but his legs were broken by Zhang He's guards. Your mother had no choice but to cry like you did, until she went blind. The two elderly people could only wait to die in the drafty house. This is the scene I saw."

Fang'er screamed and was stunned.

Yuan Ming added fuel to the fire: "Winter is here, you should understand that they won't make it to spring."

Fang'er couldn't bear the blow and fainted.

Yuan Ming calmly pressed Fang'er's Ren Zhong acupoint until Fang'er woke up, and then brought her back to the cruel reality.

Fang'er murmured in a faint voice, "What should I do?"

Yuan Ming took out the medicine bottle and handed it to Fang'er at the right time, giving her some advice.

"Only by relying on yourself can you find a way out."
