"Do you think I'm useless?" Su Wanwan asked as she leaned on Jiang Shengjun's shoulder.
Before her parents passed away, she always liked to suppress all the things she wanted to say.
After her parents passed away, she resolved to stop hiding her true feelings and became much more relaxed in front of Jiang Shengjun, laughing when she wanted to laugh and crying when she wanted to cry.
Jiang Shengjun sat side by side with her on the swing, which swayed with their rhythm.
He handed her a handkerchief to wipe her tears, and naturally put his hand on her shoulder and hugged her.
Su Wanwan felt safe resting her head on Jiang Shengjun's strong shoulder, silently wiping away the tears on her cheeks.
Jiang Shengjun held her and gently answered her previous questions.
"What kind of person is a useful person, and what kind of person is a useless person? Perhaps everyone has different standards of judgment. If you think that being able to control your emotions makes you a useful person, then you are indeed quite useless in your own mind right now."
He hit the nail on the head, peeling back the layers of Su Wanwan's heart every time.
In Su Wanwan's mind, his greatest wisdom was that after peeling her skin open, he would stitch up her wound and then carefully protect its health, preventing it from leaving a scar.
He continued, "Wanwan, I won't judge whether you're useful or not, but I know that although you tend to get emotional over small things, you always remain calm and rational when it comes to important matters. That's my honest feeling from being around you."
He seemed quite clear-headed, and reminded Su Wanwan, "The limbic system of a woman's brain is indeed wider than that of a man's, which makes women more emotional than men. It's perfectly normal for a small emotion to be amplified in you."
Su Wanwan felt a warmth in her heart after hearing this, feeling that Jiang Shengjun was like a mentor on her life's journey, always able to rationalize her actions.
Jiang Shengjun leaned his head against hers and expressed his concerns, "Actually, I'm quite scared too. I'm scared that you'll grow up, but I'm also scared that you won't."
Su Wanwan lowered her eyes. She could understand the other person's original intention in saying those words. She also understood that Jiang Shengjun was afraid that she would leave him after she grew up, and that she would remain in a state of sadness and depression if she did not grow up.
She then comforted Jiang Shengjun, giving him positive feedback.
Standing up, Su Wanwan swore to Jiang Shengjun under the magnolia tree: "I will grow, but I will never leave you. This is better for both of us. Go to the company and do your work. I will grow."
As the wind blows, the magnolias in the garden bloom in full glory.
In the Jiang family's old house, she carried gifts and went to Su Suqin's chess room, mustering up her courage to knock on the door.
Before they could even start, Grandma Fu received a phone call and came out from outside, muttering to herself.
"Stop rushing me, where is Ayan?"
"At the hospital? I'll go see her right now."
"Why?
"A double suicide?"
...
Su Wanwan smiled politely at Fu Yan's grandmother.
She had no impression of Fu Yan, only that the name sounded familiar, and she didn't think about the argument between Ouyang Maomao and Fu Yan yesterday.
At this moment, she was only concerned with building a good relationship with Su Suqin.
"Oh dear, we're one short, we can't play."
Su Suqin smiled and said to her two sisters, "Why can't we play? I'll play two roles, one person playing two characters, isn't that good enough? Let's continue."
Su Wanwan saw that her opportunity had arrived.
She knocked on the door and said, "Grandma, can I have one too?"
Su Suqin's smile vanished instantly.
She felt that all her previous efforts had been ruined by Su Wanwan. She had worked so hard to save the Jiang family from their predicament, and now that they had finally recovered, she had encountered a bankrupt, ordinary person.
She is not worthy of her grandson at all.
Seeing that the atmosphere was a bit tense, the other two old ladies said gently, "Alright, alright, we're just one short, let's add her."
Even though Su Suqin wasn't too keen on it, she didn't want to spoil her friends' fun, so she agreed.
Su Wanwan knew this was an opportunity given to her by heaven, and she wanted to cherish it and try her best to seize it.
Sitting in the seat where Grandma Fu Yan had previously sat, Su Wanwan received a bad hand of cards, but as she drew more and more, she managed to get a pure suit.
A pure suit is the highest possible hand in mahjong.
While drawing cards, Su Wanwan took the initiative to greet the three women and introduce herself: "Hello, grandmas, my name is Su Wanwan. I might be a little reserved since this is my first time playing cards with you, but I'll probably feel better after a few more rounds."
Su Suqin's other two friends took a liking to Su Wanwan immediately upon seeing her, and after introducing themselves, they kept praising her.
The grandmother in the emerald green cheongsam sitting to Su Suqin's left spoke first: "Wanwan is a very nice name. My surname is Zhao."
Then, pointing to the grandmother in a white cheongsam sitting to Su Suqin's right, he said, "You can call this grandmother Leng. She also has a nice but funny name, Leng Jing (meaning calm)."
Su Suqin's expression also changed subtly at this moment. She was no longer as stern as before. She only complained to Grandma Zhao, "Oh dear, why do you always introduce her to others? And it's always the same routine."
Su Wanwan suddenly felt a sense of warmth, and the atmosphere eased considerably as they played mahjong.
Grandma Leng suddenly asked, "Did something important happen to Qu Mingzhu just now? Why did she leave in such a hurry without explaining anything?"
Su Wanwan politely replied, "Are you talking about the grandma who just went out? It seems her grandson committed suicide for love."
"A double suicide!" Apart from a slight change in Su Suqin's eyes, the other two grandmothers were completely shocked.
