Chapter 60 Desolate Wilderness

After the car stopped, Hera felt someone lift her out of the car again.

After being lifted down, the instructor put some kind of thing on her wrist, and then she was carried away again.

The road was bumpy, and there were birdsong and the sound of footsteps on the grass all around.

Based on the scent of grass that Hera smelled, Hera deduced that she must have been carried to a desolate wilderness.

After stopping, the instructor placed Hera on the lawn.

"Thank you for your help, for keeping you still for so long." Hera recognized the voice as that of the female instructor who had carried her away.

"Training is about to begin. Lie here for another ten minutes, and then you can move around." The female instructor then put something in Hera's pocket and left.

Hera remained completely still throughout.

After lying there for ten minutes, Hera slowly raised her hand and removed the mask from her eyes.

What comes into view is a clear blue sky and white clouds.

Hera got up, looked around, and realized that she was indeed in a jungle.

The green grass, the big trees, the bushes, and the sunlight shining from the horizon are all there.

Hera then reached into her pocket, wanting to see what the instructor had given her.

Then he took out a few pieces of fruit candy.

Hera blinked, then put the four candies back into her pocket.

He stood up from the grass and patted the grass that was stuck to his body.

Hera began to feel confused. The instructor only told her that this was special training, but did not tell her what the purpose of the training was. As a result, Hera did not know what to do next.

Hera lowered her head and recalled the experience that Xinglan had told Gu.

They drugged the trainees, abandoned them in the wilderness, and subjected them to special training...

But after thinking for a long time, Hera still couldn't remember. There was nothing Xinglan could do. She had only told Hera what to do when she first entered the training camp. As for the training plan, Xinglan pretended to be mysterious and said, "You have to figure that out yourself."

Hera raised her head and stopped thinking about it. At least she was certain of one thing: there were other recruits participating in the training, but they were just scattered around.

This is thanks in part to the fact that Hera didn't need to sleep or be drugged.

Otherwise, if you suddenly woke up and found yourself in the middle of nowhere, you would be extremely confused.

Hera looked again at the bracelet that was being worn on her wrist.

It's called a bracelet, but it's really just a rope made of special material tied to the wrist. As for its purpose, it's most likely for location tracking or to check on the safety of new recruits.

After all, Xinglan had said that no matter what kind of training it was, the instructors would always put the safety of the new recruits first.

Hera lowered her hand and began searching for the other recruits.

Hera walked on the lush green lawn, occasionally reaching out to push aside branches blocking her path.

Strangely enough, even though it's autumn, the vegetation here is as lush as in spring.

However, Hera didn't pay much attention to the details. It was just that this aimless search for people made Hera feel as if she had returned to the time when she had not yet become a human.

She remembered that after she turned into a dog and tasted human food, she began searching for humans everywhere.

Just like now, we're searching aimlessly, and even the locations are pretty much the same.

The difference is that last time it was to hunt humans, while this time it's to help humans.

However, the smell in this forest felt strange; a peculiar odor permeated the air, which an ordinary person would definitely not be able to detect.

But Hera's dog-like nose could easily detect it, and the scent masked other smells in the air, making it even more difficult to find Hera.

Suddenly, Hera smelled a human scent in the air, and the scent was very familiar.

Hera stopped, checked the direction of the smell again, and then ran towards it.

Hera's figure darted swiftly through the jungle, as if the rugged and complex path didn't exist at all.

As Hera drew closer, the scent grew stronger and clearer, and Hera finally recognized who the owner of the scent was.

Slowly, the faint sound of a girl crying could be heard coming from in front of Hera.

"Waaaaah~!"

"Where am I...? How did I end up here after just one nap... Sister Hera! Ye Yiqing... where are you...?"

I'm so scared to be alone..."

Coco slumped on the lawn, tears streaming down her cheeks and onto her military uniform, soaking a large patch of it.

Suddenly, the sound of running footsteps came from behind. Coco stopped crying and looked up in the direction of the sound, puzzled.

The sound of running grew closer and closer, and the sound of footsteps trampling on the grass was incredibly clear.

Coco listened to the approaching footsteps with red eyes, her heart leaping into her throat.

She tried to stand up and run away, but her legs were numb from kneeling for so long that she couldn't move them at all.

The bushes were parted, and Hera walked over with her expressionless face.

"ah--!

"Don't eat me! Don't eat me! I'm only 17! I've never been in a relationship before, and I don't want to die!" Coco closed her eyes tightly in terror, waving her little hands frantically in the air.

"You can't date in the training camp," Hera's voice drifted over.

Coco's body stiffened noticeably, then she immediately opened her eyes and looked at Hera.

"H-Hera, I...I must be dreaming."

Coco rubbed her tear-filled eyes and looked at Hera again.

Seeing that the other person was still standing there, and realizing that he wasn't seeing things, he realized that the other person wasn't seeing things.

Coco excitedly pushed herself up with both hands and threw herself into Hera's arms, bursting into tears again.

"Waaaaah~! Sister Hera, I thought I was going to die and be left to rot in the wilderness all by myself. You scared me half to death."

Coco wiped her tears on Hera's clothes and continued to sob, "Where am I? Why did I wake up in this godforsaken place...?"

“The instructors carried us here; they said we needed special training,” Hera answered calmly, a stark contrast to Coco’s terrified expression.

"Special training?" Coco looked at Hera with tears in her eyes.

"Yes, the instructor told me himself." Hera nodded honestly.

Coco breathed a huge sigh of relief, as if all her strength had been drained away, and slid off Hera, lying on the lawn.

"I was so scared! It was just training. I thought I'd been kidnapped by human traffickers and taken to the mountains to be someone's wife." Coco breathed a sigh of relief.

"Since it's training, what's next? And what will the training consist of?"

"have no idea."

"Oh, it's okay. I feel relieved to have Hera with me." Coco said, trying to stand up and hug Hera, but she fell back down again after only standing halfway up.

"Ugh... my legs are so numb..."
