Chapter 162 Mangshen Mountain Range (2)
But it's not easy to travel in these mountains, and besides, similar races are probably all here.
"The second type are those that eat poisonous plants, so they must be poisonous beasts. I'll teach you the 'Poison Classic,' Uncle. You can use what you've learned to drive them away."
"Me?" Shan Wu asked in surprise, "I don't know many words."
"Such high cultivation level, yet still illiterate. Truly a gifted individual," Ji Rong thought to herself, her beady eyes rolling slightly.
He said, “Uncle, your cultivation is so profound, and you have been an emperor for many years. Your understanding of magic should be better than mine. Besides, it is not convenient for me to use magic right now.”
Shan Wu thought about it and agreed, then said, "Teach me."
So Ji Rong moved her wings and claws to take a storage ring full of spirit crystals, and then released her roots to continuously take out and absorb the spirit crystals from the storage ring. Soon the ground was covered with spirit crystal fragments.
Then she commanded the golden leaf with the "Poison Scripture" inscribed on its veins, which materialized from her chest and landed on Shan Wu's head. She whispered in his ear, "Uncle, relax and don't resist. I will now teach you the 'Poison Scripture.'"
Shan Wu nodded, and Ji Rong's leaf suddenly grew to a gigantic size, slamming down on Shan Wu's head.
When Shan Wu was struck by the giant leaf, a "Poison Scripture" forged from spiritual energy instantly appeared in his head. Upon entering his brain, this "Poison Scripture" forcefully integrated with his flesh and blood, imprinting these knowledge inscriptions into Shan Wu's mind until it was exhausted.
Fortunately, Shan Wu was highly skilled and physically strong. If he were just an ordinary cultivator, he would surely have become an idiot if Ji Rong had forcibly instilled knowledge into him.
After absorbing the "Poison Scripture", Shan Wu exclaimed excitedly, "Good niece, you actually have such skills! I understand! But, I have never seen or heard of the things mentioned in this."
"Well, all that work for nothing."
Panting heavily, Ji Rong lay on Shan Wu's back and thought viciously, "This Uncle Shan Wu really only grew to this level by accompanying the Mountain and Water God. If he were to cultivate on his own, he would at most reach the Mortal Demon Realm."
Ji Rong imprinted knowledge into Shan Wu's body, but Shan Wu didn't know how to use it, so the two of them could only rely on Shan Wu's four legs to walk slowly.
Ji Rong then struggled to take out a small storage ring filled with spirit crystals and stuffed it into Shan Wu's mouth, saying, "Uncle, the spiritual energy outside is poisonous and cannot be inhaled. This small storage ring has no restrictions, so you can take it and use it yourself. I'm going to take a nap."
"Wake me up when you run out of spirit crystals, and I'll gather some more for you. Let's get past the Mangshen Mountains first."
Ji Rong fell into a deep sleep. Perhaps it was because of the tension she had felt over the past few days, or perhaps it was because she was carrying the crumbling deity on her back. She even had a dream again.
She dreamt that the perfect Mountain and Water God was facing away from her, waving his six arms and searching around in the desolate Wild God Mountain Range. He found something that shimmered with gold and stuffed it into his chest.
Ji Rong immediately flapped her wings and ran over to ask, "My Lord, are you alright? What are you doing? We're still on our way, let's hurry."
The Mountain and Water God was very short today, and his voice was strange. He said in a muffled voice, "Wait a little longer. I haven't collected all my divine attributes yet. I am not a god yet, so I can't leave."
Ji Rong tried to pull Him with her wings and claws, but grasped at nothing; the God's body was extremely slippery today.
So Ji Rong shook his claws, spread his wings, and said, "What's there to search here? Aren't we still going to the Source Stream? You can just soak in there and that will be enough."
The god suddenly turned around and looked at her. He saw that his rotten flesh was covered with poisonous insects like manes, and his bones were haphazardly intertwined, shining with golden light. He did not have six hands, but rather six arms made of interwoven poisonous insects. He exclaimed to Ji Rong with joy, "Really? Is what you said true? I'll go with you right now."
Upon seeing this fellow, Ji Rong felt a chill run down her spine. As this monster said he wanted to go with her, poisonous insects swarmed towards him as if heading home. She retreated while shouting, "No, I've mistaken you for someone else! You're not the Mountain and Water God!"
The monster, enraged, grabbed Ji Rong with its two insect arms and said, "You're the one who barged in and woke me up! You're the one who admitted I'm a god! You're the one who told me to go with you!"
Ji Rong was terrified and broke out in a cold sweat. She wanted to transform into a celestial being and escape, but she felt as if she were carrying a mountain on her back and couldn't move.
In her anxiety, she glared and shouted, "Put me down right now! I'm a bird, and if you don't let me go, I'll eat all the insects off you!"
After calling out that, she felt calmer. She grinned and continued to call out to the insect-like monster, "Who are you? I mistook you for someone else, but you haven't told me who you are."
"Who am I?" The monster chewed on these words, a mournful tone like the chirping of insects escaping from his mouth, two streams of putrid liquid gushing from his eyes. He said, "I am a traitor of the Witch Clan, a prisoner of the Witch God's authority. I am no longer worthy of being called."
With that, he put Ji Rong down and walked away. As he left, the insects orderly slung themselves off his body and waited nearby. Golden light gradually emanated from the strange man's body.
The insects that were waiting nearby grabbed the golden light and swallowed it, then scattered in all directions, satisfied.
Ji Rong chased after the insect monster, shouting, "Wait, don't go! You still haven't told me where we are!"
The man looked back at her. By then, all the insects on his body had fled, leaving only a broken golden skeleton. He opened his mouth and silently uttered a sentence, which then scattered on the ground with a "plop".
Then Ji Rong woke up. She was still on Shan Wu's back. Shan Wu had wrapped them in a protective shield and was running forward at high speed. The monsters that had been surrounding them were no longer there.
Ji Rong hurriedly grabbed Shan Wu's neck with her wing claws and said, "Uncle, stop for a moment, I need to take a look."
Shan Wu stopped, Ji Rong stretched her feet, then turned her head and listened to her back. "Thump, thump, thump," she could still hear the strong beating of a heart on her back.
Still worried, she moved the leaf a little closer, peeking through a crack. Only when she saw the shriveled, fleshy ball of the mountain and water did she feel relieved. She said, "Uncle, put me down. Give me something good to drink, lots and lots."
Shan Wu put Ji Rong down, took a bottle of jade dew, poured a cup for Ji Rong, and poured a cup for himself. Then he transformed into a celestial being, put his claws into the leaves that Ji Rong had spread out, and wiped the mountain and water all over with the jade dew. Then he filled Ji Rong's cup again and said, "Nephew, drink more. What happened to you just now?"
With the mountains and rivers safe, Ji Rong felt completely at ease. While drinking the jade dew, she asked Shan Wu how long she had slept. After calculating that they had been in the Mangshen Mountain Range for three days, Ji Rong sighed. At this rate, they would have to walk in the mountains for another ten days or so before they could get out.
Ji Rong told Shan Wu about the dream she had just had, but Shan Wu couldn't figure it out either. So they rested for a while and then continued on their way.
On the fifth day, Ji Rong suddenly felt that the scenery along the way was very familiar. She looked around carefully and occasionally asked Shan Wu to stop. When she asked Shan Wu to stop for the third time, she asked him to clear away the newly grown grass and pointed to the monument she had pieced together, saying, "Uncle, look, this is the monument we pieced together. We are trapped."
