Chapter 8 Hidden Moon Sword

Chapter 8 Hidden Moon Sword

After a full hour, Huo Gannian finally heard the sound of Yun Chen's feet hitting the wall of the well.

Yun Chen jumped out of the well, kicked off his suede shoe covers, and ran out of the grass. He saw Huo Gannian closing his eyes and taking a nap, looking bored as if he was about to fall asleep.

"Young Master, the jade pendant has been found."

"Um."

Huo Gannian slowly opened his eyes and was stunned.

Only a pale and thin "boy's" face appeared before my eyes.

The black hair that was usually tied up high was now stuck to the temples, and water kept dripping down, making the big eyes blink non-stop, like a well-behaved and wet puppy.

Yun Chen was soaked and shivering in the night wind. He knelt on one knee in front of him, stretching out his delicate and white little hand.

In the palm of his hand, which was covered with wounds from the gravel at the bottom of the well, above the crisscrossing bloodstains, was a small jade mandarin duck pendant.

He sniffed lightly, and a crisp, clean scent came from Yun Chen's palm.

He avoided looking into those straightforward and beautiful big eyes, turned his wheelchair and entered the stone building.

She followed him in and immediately felt much warmer.

"This is the Han family's eldest daughter's ancestral jade pendant. When we were engaged, she sent it to me as a token of her love. Later, the Han family broke off the engagement and wanted to take back the jade pendant to avoid giving others a reason to disturb the Han family's eldest daughter's engagement again."

He finished speaking and looked at her reaction.

The "boy" with a somewhat feminine air was blinking his eyes and listening attentively.

It was the first time she heard this cold-faced young master say so many words in one breath, and she felt she had to prick up her ears and listen carefully.

But for the first time, Huo Gannian did not see the carefully hidden sympathy on the faces of the people around him.

He said, "You must have heard that the eldest daughter of the Han family got married a few days ago."

She nodded, "I remember, it was the day when the young master called me 'dog eyes'."

The corners of his mouth twitched slightly, and there was obvious displeasure in his eyes.

She shut up obediently, thought for a moment, and then handed over the jade pendant she had been holding with both hands.

He lowered his eyes to look at the jade pendant, snorted softly, pinched a corner of the jade pendant with two slender white fingers, and lifted it up to look at it.

His eyelashes were very long and lightly covered his face, making it impossible to see the emotions in his eyes.

But she keenly felt that he was not sad.

Whether it was when he left the house alone in the middle of the night on the day of the eldest daughter of the Han family's wedding, or when he asked her, who was good at swimming, to retrieve the jade pendant tonight.

She felt that he was not "Huo Gannian who was abandoned by his lover" at all.

His mouth was one step faster than his brain, Yun Chen said:

"Young Master, are you going to throw this jade pendant in the faces of the Han family?"

The Huo Gang has been expanding rapidly in business in recent years. Yun Chen had heard that the various branches under the Huo Gang have been making moves recently, and they seem to be looking for an opportunity to swallow up the Han family, a major salt merchant.

Hearing Yun Chen's question, Huo Gannian couldn't help but raise his eyebrows, his eyes lit up slightly, and the corners of his eyes curved in a playful manner:

"But a few days ago, I went to the wedding ceremony alone in the middle of the night on the Han family's eldest daughter's wedding day. Doesn't that mean I'm very sad?"

Yun Chen showed his neat teeth and smiled:

"Young Master shouldn't be going to watch the wedding ceremony—he's going to recognize the eldest daughter of the Han family."

Seeing that his eyebrows were raised higher, and there was even a hint of smile in his eyes, indicating her to continue, she said:

"My guess is that the young master is going to acknowledge the face of the eldest daughter of the Han family. Later, when he takes over the Han family, he can throw the jade pendant in her face, letting her and the Han family know the consequences of disrespecting the young master. And using 'breaking off the engagement' as an excuse will give him a legitimate reason for a business war!"

Good job!

This was the first time in all these years that someone had guessed exactly what he was thinking!

Everyone said he was heartbroken because his engagement was broken off.

Little did he know that he was extremely opposed to the marriage between the two families, and he had no idea how many times he had argued with Mr. Huo back then.

And he had never even met the eldest daughter of the Han family! What kind of sadness was that?

He also threw the jade pendant into the well when he broke off the engagement.

Is Huo Gannian the kind of person who is bound by the love between his children?

Besides, when it comes to recognizing people, wouldn’t it be better to do it yourself?

But the constant sympathetic looks from the people around him really made him irritated, and he didn't want to say a word.

He wanted to know how many noses and eyes the eldest daughter of the Han family had, so he asked someone to get a portrait to look at. The people around him suddenly understood and felt sad for him.

He wanted to know the date and place of the wedding ceremony. After the people around him carefully reported it, they deliberately changed the subject with jokes.

It seemed comforting, but in fact it annoyed him so much that he almost had a heart attack.

Everyone thought he was "broken by love," but in fact, he just wanted to know which daughter of the Han family was the real one! That way, he wouldn't be unable to recognize her when they met in the future!

He simply went alone to have a quiet look.

Right now, it feels so good to finally be understood!

He was in a good mood, his eyes and eyebrows showed a happy expression of breaking the ice. Just as he was about to speak, he heard her continue:

"Just like a dog leaves a mark when it pees, Young Master, go and recognize the face of the eldest daughter of the Han family with your own eyes, so that you won't lose face by throwing the jade pendant to the wrong person in the future."

The corner of his mouth, which was about to rise, froze abruptly.

Staring at her sincere and pure face, his expression was half sunny and half cloudy, like thunder and lightning, and it froze again before he said in a cold voice:

"You bastard, all you say is bullshit!"

She grinned, and the youth's innocence only grew.

He glared at her, then his gaze fell on her unarmed waist and said:

"There's a sword hanging on the wall of the study in the central hall here. Go get it."

She took the order and left, and returned a moment later with her sword, but the place was empty.

"Young Master?" she called out.

The only responses she received were the sound of the wind and the chirping of night insects.

Unable to believe that a disabled person could move so quickly, and worried that he might have an accident, she quickly used her martial arts skills to climb up lightly along the corner of the stone building.

When she climbed to the fourth floor, she finally saw Huo Gannian.

There was no surprise. He pushed the wheelchair with his hands and left the yard in the blink of an eye when she took out the sword, panting as he went back to Beining Hall.

She quickly caught up with him using her lightness skills, flew in front of him and landed, blocking his way.

"Master, why are you running so fast?"

For some reason, she clearly felt his body stiffen.

"Young Master, this is the sword you asked for." She knelt on one knee again and presented the sword.

From above, a somewhat uneven and unnatural voice came:

"Please keep it for me first."

After saying that, he turned his wheelchair and left with a rumbling sound.

She felt puzzled and wanted to ask again, but she heard a cry of surprise from the other side. Huo Gannian's personal servant Runhe came over and exclaimed:

"Young Master, why are you sweating all over? It must be very cold if you get blown by the wind!"

After saying that, Runhe looked at Yunchen with dissatisfaction, as if blaming her for not taking good care of Huo Gannian.

Yun Chen spread his hands with an innocent look on his face as he watched the master and servant leave, then excitedly began to look at the sword in his hand.

For people who practice martial arts, a handy weapon is very important.

For a master like Yun Chen, the sword is like a brother or sister, and like half of his life.

Yun Chen had no money, so she always bought her swords from street stalls.

Fortunately, I didn't have much chance to use the sword with great force, so I just made do with it for several years.

Her sword broke a few days ago, and she has been empty-handed ever since.

But she didn't expect Huo Gannian to reward her with a sword.

Although she didn't have the money to buy a good sword, it didn't mean she had never seen a good sword.

Once upon a time, she followed her mysterious master to learn martial arts and happened to see her master's sword.

How should I put it? Some people look kind at first sight, while others look ferocious at first sight.

Her master's sword shone with silver light and could cut through iron like mud. Just one glance at it made her feel a chilling chill, a kind of bloody chill that could not be felt without killing thousands of people.

She still remembers the feeling of being shocked by a sword.

The deepest part of the scabbard's texture even contained old black blood stains, which might have been left behind by some wronged soul.

But even though she had seen swords before, she was still amazed when she got Huo Gannian's sword.

Huo Gannian's sword has a scabbard engraved with a pattern of a hidden mountain and a moon, and the scabbard has lotus-shaped edges, which looks gloomy and cold on the surface.

When the sword was opened, it was as slender as the tail of a star, and the blade was extremely thin with a slight bluish-green tint.

This sword exudes a cold and dangerous aura that says "don't mess with me".

But how could an expert swordsman restrain himself?

She couldn't help but touch the sword blade with her thumb, and a deep bloody cut was instantly left on it.

The red blood stained the sword, revealing a sinister beauty.

She looked at her bleeding thumb and felt as if she was being scolded by Huo Gannian's sword again.

Yun Chen was very worried about this sword that was obviously worth a lot of money. He didn't know whether to use it or keep it for display.

She didn't dare to leave the sword lying around, so she had to carry it with her, holding the sword while on duty and carrying out her duties.

As expected, everyone looked surprised when they saw her holding Huo Gannian's "Hidden Moon Sword" and couldn't help but look at her twice.

Seeing that she was simple, straightforward and approachable, they couldn't help but look confused.

Only Ye Yan was worried. He felt that this might be Huo Gannian's intention for Yun Chen to draw his sword and commit suicide.

Ye Yan felt it was a pity.

During the days he spent with Yun Chen, he had realized that this little guy was too honest and spoke without thinking.

But his advantage is that he has great skills, a simple mind, and is very intelligent, and he often understands things at a glance.

"What a pity, what a pity." Ye Yan always said this to Yun Chen who was guarding with a sword.

Yun Chen thought he was saying it would be a shame to give the sword to her, so he smiled calmly:

"It's a pity, so I don't plan to use it. I plan to save some money to build a temple to worship it."

Ye Yan knew she had misunderstood, and just as she was about to explain, she heard a voice full of contempt interrupt her:

"Hmph, you have to worship it! This Hidden Moon Sword is a family heirloom of the Huo family. It once killed Prince Dong Yan and was once the young master's personal belonging. It is priceless. A tiny bit of iron filings can buy your life. I really don't know why the young master would give the Hidden Moon Sword to a country bumpkin like you!"
