Chapter 168 Don't even think about taking her away

"What do you mean?" Lin Xihe was extremely anxious and hurriedly chased after him.

Ji Zhuo walked straight inside, seemingly ignoring her.

Lin Xihe grew increasingly anxious, took a few quick steps, and reached out to grab Ji Zhuo's sleeve.

Ji Zhuo stopped in his tracks, his gaze not falling on Lin Xihe's face, but fixed on her hand resting on his sleeve, his eyes icy and chilling, as if they could freeze a person.

Lin Xihe quickly withdrew her hand as if she had been burned.

Is he implying that she's dirty?

Thinking of this, Lin Xihe's heart clenched, and a sharp pain spread through her, but she still immediately whispered, "I'm sorry."

"Don't come again."

Ji Zhuo's voice was flat and calm, almost indifferent, but those few simple words were enough to make Lin Xihe feel ashamed and want to disappear.

Lin Xihe was well aware that her behavior would be unbearable for most men.

However, no matter how utterly despicable she felt, no matter how much Ji Zhuo loathed her, and no matter how much she could avoid appearing in front of Ji Zhuo and getting in his way, she was determined to bring her daughter, Tang Bao, back no matter what.

Lin Xihe tried her best to keep her voice calm: "Lord Ji, I will not bother you again, and I humbly request that you return Tang Bao to me..."

Upon hearing this, Ji Zhuo's originally calm face instantly turned angry.

He lowered his head slightly, and even though he tried his best to restrain himself, his calm words still carried a chilling undertone: "Don't push your luck. Get out."

This was the first time Lin Xihe had been so overwhelmed by Ji Zhuo's sinister aura that she felt almost suffocated. She looked up at Ji Zhuo's face and her breath caught in her throat.

After Ji Zhuo finished speaking, he strode into the mansion.

Lin Xihe suppressed her sadness and hurried after her.

The two walked almost one after the other, and the gatekeeper was caught off guard and didn't have time to stop them.

Ling Shuang, Ling Xue, and Mo Wusheng, who were following behind Lin Xihe, wanted to step forward, but were stopped.

"Miss!" Ling Shuang called out anxiously from behind.

Lin Xihe glanced back hastily, but before she could respond, Ji Zhuo had already walked away.

She couldn't care less about Ling Shuang and could only quicken her pace to catch up.

Ji Zhuo strode forward, his anger surging, feeling as if his lungs were about to explode.

It was late at night, and the mansion was completely silent except for the sound of a few people's footsteps.

Lin Xihe jogged along, and when she glanced back, she found that Lang Feng was following behind her. The three of them then headed towards Ji Zhuo's courtyard, one after the other.

As they arrived at the courtyard gate, the chill emanating from Ji Zhuo intensified, his anger almost materializing into mist, making the surrounding air feel colder.

Upon reaching the gate, he stretched out his hand, and his hurried steps abruptly stopped the moment he touched the gate.

His gaze fell on a house not far away, the anger in his eyes softening slightly, replaced by a barely perceptible tenderness and concern. After a moment, he turned slightly to the side and gently pushed open the courtyard gate, his movements slow and deliberate, as if afraid of making the slightest sound.

Lin Xihe took in all of this and secretly guessed that the room Ji Zhuo was looking at was most likely where her daughter Tang Bao lived.

She could clearly feel the surging yet suppressed anger emanating from Ji Zhuo, but the way he opened the door so carefully, even considering the slightest sound, was enough to prove that he loved Tang Bao from the bottom of his heart.

After entering the room, Ji Zhuo could no longer suppress his anger. He slammed his fist heavily on the table, making a dull thud.

Lang Feng watched the two of them walk into the house one after the other, and stood at a distance, somewhat at a loss, wondering whether he should go in or not.

In the darkness, Lin Xihe's body suddenly froze.

Ji Zhuo's heavy punch slamming onto the table felt like it had struck her heart, making her feel as if she had truly experienced the force. Her face burned with pain, her heart ached terribly, and every nerve in her body throbbed as if being deeply pierced by fine needles.

"A-Zhuo..."

Her lips trembled slightly, her voice as faint as a whisper, drifting out gently in the darkness, carrying endless fear and sorrow.

Ji Zhuo was filled with rage at the betrayal and was completely unaware that Lin Xihe was following closely behind him.

Upon hearing that familiar call, his body stiffened abruptly. Then, his mocking words, filled with resentment, pierced straight at Lin Xihe: "Miss Lin, are you so reckless? You can just barge into any man's room?"

Lin Xihe bit her lower lip, took a deep breath, suppressed her grievances, and took a step forward. Her voice was soft but firm: "I've come to pick up Tang Bao from school. Thank you for taking care of me during this time."

Upon hearing this, Ji Zhuo scoffed.

He turned around, his face grim, and pressed closer to Lin Xihe with each step, as if each step was treading on Lin Xihe's heart.

"You want to take her away? Do you think you have the right?"

“I...I am her mother.”

Lin Xihe's voice trembled slightly, and under Ji Zhuo's relentless pressure, she seemed increasingly unsure of herself.

Ji Zhuo suddenly reached out and grabbed her chin tightly, the force of his grip so great it seemed he wanted to crush it.

He leaned closer to Lin Xihe, his tone full of sarcasm and disgust, each word like a venomous snake spitting its tongue: "Mother? Is there really such a shameless woman as you in this world, who can still climb into someone else's bed so easily after giving birth to a child?"

Lin Xihe's face turned deathly pale instantly.

Faced with Ji Zhuo's questioning, her lips trembled, but she couldn't utter a single word. All the grievances and helplessness in her heart were choked in her throat by this unspeakable pain.

Ji Zhuo increased the pressure on her hand, and a piercing pain shot through her chin. Her body moved backward uncontrollably until she had nowhere left to retreat, and her back slammed heavily against the door with a dull thud.
