Chapter 198 Kidnapping

Just as the man turned to leave the room, she caught a glimpse of a dilapidated candlestick in the corner. The edge of the candlestick was as sharp as a blade, gleaming coldly in the dim light.

Lin Xihe took a deep breath and forced herself to remain calm as she spoke, "Big brother, I know I can't escape, and I don't want to struggle anymore. But I'm terribly thirsty, could you give me some water?"

Upon hearing this, the man was taken aback at first, then a frivolous and lewd smile appeared on his face: "Oh, so you're giving in already? But don't worry, I'm much better at taking care of people than those Gu Qinghuai and Ji Zhuo. Drink some water to moisten your throat, so your voice will sound better later."

After saying that, he deliberately raised an eyebrow at Lin Xihe before walking out of the house, muttering, "This lousy place is so bad, it's hard to even find a sip of water."

Lin Xihe didn't have time to think about the identities of the man and the woman from before. She continued to pretend to be scared, lowering her head slightly.

The man whistled and strode out of the room. As his footsteps faded into the distance, Lin Xihe's heart pounded violently, as if it would burst from her chest. She took a deep breath, mustered the last of her strength, and struggled to move her bound feet across the rough ground.

Her eyes were fixed on the candlestick in the corner, her only hope.

One inch, two inches... Finally, she reached the candlestick, her hands trembling as she rubbed the rope on her wrists back and forth against its sharp edge.

The sharp candlestick chafed her wrist, tearing it open and drawing blood down her arm.

But she paid no heed, her mind only focused on escaping.

Before long, the ropes on her hands were worn away, and she quickly used the candlestick to cut the ropes on her feet.

She then returned to her original spot, loosely re-wrapped the rope around her hands and feet, pretending to still be bound, and quietly waited for her chance.

Just then, the man hummed an off-key tune as his footsteps approached.

Lin Xihe's heart clenched. She immediately picked up the candlestick from the ground, hid it behind her back, drooped her head, and pretended to be extremely weak, even deliberately keeping her breathing soft.

The man walked up to her, and a nauseating stench wafted towards her.

He held the bowl close to Lin Xihe, a lewd smile on his face: "Come on, little beauty, open your mouth and drink some water."

Lin Xihe slightly raised her head, her eyes filled with fear and obedience.

When the man brought the bowl to her lips, she deliberately tilted her body and banged her head against the bowl in his hand.

With a "splash," water was poured all over the man.

"You damned piece of trash!"

The man instantly flew into a rage, his smile twisting into a ferocious fury, and raised his hand to slap her.

At this critical moment, Lin Xihe seized the opportunity, gathered all her strength, gripped the candlestick tightly with both hands, and smashed it down hard on the man's head with all her might.

With a muffled thud, the man's eyes widened in disbelief. His body swayed, and he fell straight to the ground.

Lin Xihe didn't have time to check if the man was alive or dead; she scrambled out of the room.

Only then did they realize that they were in a dilapidated mansion. In the courtyard, several kidnappers, hearing the commotion, surrounded them menacingly, wielding sticks.

One of the kidnappers saw Lin Xihe run out and shouted, "Damn it, this woman got away! Chase her! Don't let her escape!"

Lin Xihe didn't have time to think much before turning around and running towards the back of the house, where there was a dense forest.

The kidnappers gave chase, shouting obscenities: "You little bitch, see where you think you can run! Once we catch you, you'll be sorry!"

Lin Xihe frantically weaved through the woods, tree branches like sharp blades, slashing her cheeks and arms, drawing blood, but she felt no pain whatsoever.

Her eyes were fixed on the road ahead, on the path to escape.

Suddenly, a hidden stream appeared before us. The water was not deep, but the current was rapid.

Without the slightest hesitation, Lin Xihe leaped into the stream.

The icy stream instantly enveloped her, and she drifted downstream with the current, the whistling wind and the rushing water filling her ears.

The kidnappers chased the kidnappers to the stream, but when they saw the rushing water, they were filled with fear and dared not go into the water rashly.

They paced back and forth along the creek, cursing loudly.

But soon, two of the bolder kidnappers exchanged a glance, gritted their teeth, and jumped into the water, splashing up a large spray, and chased after the direction where Lin Xihe had disappeared...
