"What? My visit to see Xihe has surprised Lord Ji so much?" Gu Qinghuai's expression was indifferent, and his tone was distant.
Looking back on the previous year, they had met several times. Although they weren't exactly inseparable, their relationship was harmonious and amicable. They would even have a drink or a meal together.

He felt that Lin Xihe was now completely obedient to Ji Zhuo, and her heart and eyes were full of Ji Zhuo. The two even couldn't wait to hold hands under the table.
Gu Qinghuai felt that his persistence at that moment might only cause Lin Xihe more trouble.
He suppressed his resentment and grief, feigning composure as he chatted casually with Ji Zhuo, replying, "Well, the people there are just uneasy because of the frequent comings and goings of the army. It's not difficult to appease them."

Ji Zhuo continued speaking slowly and deliberately, his tone revealing no emotion, yet he was clearly not giving Lin Xihe a chance to speak.
"How is the situation in Nanzhao?" Gu Qinghuai asked.

Upon hearing Mu Ruoyan's name, Lin Xihe was about to ask about his whereabouts when she asked, "What about Ayan...?"
However, Ji Zhuo interrupted her once again.
Gu Qinghuai in front of him was already enough to make him jealous, and she still had to ask about another one.
Ji Zhuo, seemingly oblivious to Lin Xihe's anxious expression, continued, "General Gu, it's been a long time since we last met. You couldn't even attend my wedding banquet with Xi'er. Why don't you stay today? I've prepared a small feast, and we can catch up..."
