Chapter 67 Feeding Medicine

Because Ling Shuang was unable to enter Gu Qinghuai's courtyard, Lin Xihe had no choice but to let her return to the mansion first, while she stayed behind to take care of Gu Qinghuai.

Lin Xihe had always thought that Gu Qinghuai was stubborn, but today she truly witnessed just how stubborn he could be.

The next morning, a guard carefully brought over the freshly brewed medicine, and wisps of steam rose up. However, Gu Qinghuai seemed not to hear it, not even lifting his eyelids, still intently staring at the book in his hands.

He didn't initiate a conversation with Lin Xihe, his face was unnaturally pale, and he would occasionally suppress a cough. His appearance made people feel inexplicably aggrieved.

Lin Xihe saw this, but dared not easily reveal her worries.

Unfortunately, Gu Qinghuai's servants all stared at her expectantly, their eyes filled with sorrow and hope, as if silently urging her to persuade the general to take his medicine.

This left Lin Xihe quite embarrassed, and she could only give a few perfunctory replies with a dry laugh.

As noon approached, the medicine that had been delivered remained untouched. The servants were frantic and hurriedly reheated it.

When the medicine was heated for the fourth time, Lin Xihe finally couldn't suppress her anxiety any longer. She took a few steps forward, picked up the bowl of medicine that was still a little warm, and went straight to Gu Qinghuai.

She frowned and urged, "General Gu, you should drink this medicine. If you keep dragging this on and don't get better, I'll have to stay here and take care of you forever."

Gu Qinghuai continued flipping through the book, only replying lightly, "It's not that I don't want to drink it, it's just that I don't have the strength to lift this bowl of medicine."

Upon hearing this, Lin Xihe felt her head buzz, feeling both angry and anxious. She glanced at the thick military book in Gu Qinghuai's hand and replied irritably, "That book you're holding is much heavier than this medicine bowl. You were holding it steadily this morning when we were eating, so why can't you hold the medicine bowl now?"

Gu Qinghuai's lips curled up slightly. He didn't refute, but simply nodded, his tone still calm: "Yes, it's just too heavy to lift."

Seeing his shameless act, Lin Xihe thought to herself that he was clearly trying to take advantage of her. She gritted her teeth, made up her mind, and said, "Fine! I'll feed you."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qinghuai's eyes flashed with barely suppressed joy. He quickly threw the book in his hand onto the table, turned around neatly, and looked up at Lin Xihe expectantly. His obedient and waiting-to-be-fed appearance was completely different from his usual imposing general image.

Lin Xihe reluctantly brought the bowl of medicine to Gu Qinghuai's lips.

Gu Qinghuai turned his face slightly to the side, acting like a child: "Drink it straight from the bowl?"

"Such a big man, a tall guy of 1.9 meters, why are you drinking with a spoon instead of just drinking from the bowl?"

"Who says men can't drink with a spoon? I really can't drink from a bowl."

"Alright, alright, Gu Qinghuai." Lin Xihe sighed deeply, resignedly picked up a spoon, scooped up a spoonful of medicine, and slowly brought it to Gu Qinghuai.

The moment the spoon lightly touched Gu Qinghuai's lips, he quickly turned his head away, pouting and muttering, "Hot."

Lin Xihe's eyes widened in surprise. The medicine was practically cold, so how could it be hot?

She frowned slightly, and asked with a hint of anger, "Gu Qinghuai, are you getting revenge for me not taking care of you yesterday?"

Gu Qinghuai feigned innocence and replied, "It's hot, blow on it."

Lin Xihe was both angry and helpless looking at him, and in the end she was so angry that she laughed.

She gritted her teeth, forcing herself to suppress the urge to beat Gu Qinghuai up, bent down, gently blew on the almost cold medicine, and then held the spoon to Gu Qinghuai's lips again.

Gu Qinghuai's lips curled up slightly, but his eyes were fixed on Lin Xihe's pretty face, which was flushed with anger, as if he were bewitched.

After a long while, he slowly opened his mouth and drank the medicine in the spoon in one gulp.

His gaze was so intense and focused that it made one feel as if he were touching Lin Xihe's soft lips, not a spoon.

After swallowing the medicine, Gu Qinghuai murmured with a satisfied look, "This medicine is actually a little sweet."

Lin Xihe rolled her eyes at him, annoyed, and snorted, "Heh."

Thus, for every spoonful of medicine Lin Xihe fed him, Gu Qinghuai would make her blow on it first, otherwise he would stubbornly refuse to drink it.

Gu Qinghuai felt that the dosage of the medicine seemed unusually small, and it was finished in just a few sips.

After taking his medicine, Gu Qinghuai was in a great mood. He looked at Lin Xihe and said, "Xihe, let me take you out to play."

Upon hearing this, Lin Xihe hurriedly waved her hand in refusal, saying while tidying up the medicine bowl, "With your health, you should save yourself the trouble. If His Majesty finds out that you've taken leave from court but still have the energy to take me out to play, what will become of you?"

As she spoke, she placed the medicine bowl properly, then moved a stool from the round table in the distance, and began to grind ink.

Gu Qinghuai watched her busy figure and asked softly, "Am I making you feel too constrained here?"

"Okay, as long as you know what I mean, then get well soon so I can go home." Lin Xihe replied casually, picked up a blank sheet of Xuan paper from the table, and started doodling with a brush to pass the time.

Seeing this, Gu Qinghuai, still unwilling to give up, suggested, "If you find it boring, I'll give you two calligraphy templates to copy?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Xihe seemed to have heard something out of the blue. She stopped what she was doing, looked up at him, and replied with a look of disdain, "Brother, what are you saying? Isn't that even more boring?"

In her opinion, reading makes her sleepy, let alone writing. If she had a phone right now, she would rather read novels than draw and play here.
